Frontline careers against covid-19 had real loss, says Caged

A survey based on official data from the General Register of Employees and Unemployed (Caged) shows that most careers that today are mobilized to combat the spread of the new coronavirus and to care for the sick, pandemic victims, suffered a real drop in maturities in 2019.

Salaries of professionals hired last year as nurses, bilogos, biomedical, biotechnologists, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, holders of a higher education diploma, lost purchasing power due to the readjustment below inflation. According to a note distributed to the press, the hiring of nurses in 2019 had an average value of R $ 3,309.99 – 3.08% above the value of the previous year (R $ 3,211.23). The percentage below inflation, measured by Wide Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which over the past year was 4.3%.

The contractions of biomedical doctors had an average value of R $ 2,557.18 – readjustment of 3.08% over the average of the previous year (R $ 2,481.61). Among pharmacists, the rate of increase in remuneration was 2.94% – from R $ 3,125.57 in 2018 to R $ 3,217.48.

In the case of biotechnologists, the increase in the average value of contracts was 2.17% – rising from R $ 3,603.71 to R $ 3,681.96. Chemists saw an increase of 1.34% – from R $ 4,279.07 to R $ 4,336.34.

In terms of percentages of adjustments, the worst situation found was that of bilogos – the average salary paid on new hires fell by 0.7% between 2018 and 2019. “The amount received by professionals went from R $ 3,102.22 to R $ 3,080.63 ”, notes the platform note.

According to Quero Bolsa, the careers of medicine involved in the prevention and care of patients “had a real salary gain”. According to the comparison, “on average, medical doctors received R $ 6,596.75 in 2019, an increase of 6.65% in relation to 2018, when the salary paid was R $ 6,185.47. Infectious disease physicians received R $ 6,958.02, an 8.17% increase compared to 2018. In that year, the average salary was R $ 6,432.4. ”
