The contradictions in Eddie Diaz have sucked me in, I'll admit. He gives great insightful life and love advice that he takes none of. He's former Texan army with a silver star— an all American hero — but only enlisted to run from his responsibilities. He's a Paramedic who joined Fight Club. A self-sacrificing single father who somehow leads a double life as a high roller. He has to be dragged into any new romance kicking and bitching but once there will pleasantly play house (right up until he does something dramatic to blow it all up). He obviously has commitment issues but has no problem emotionally and legally committing to his best friend. He doesn't believe in religious indoctrination or the supernatural but is very Catholic. He's Latinx and speaks fluent Spanish yet claims to watch Telenovelas for no reason other than to 'practice Spanish'. He's a regular, mentally stable guy. He's the least normal of them all, nor is he anywhere close to mentally stable.
So, I've seen a couple stories where Danny is Damian's clone. How about we reverse it?
Danny was born Damian Al Ghul, being raised to be an assassin since he could walk. However, he had a good heart, and eventually his mother overstepped around him (maybe she killed one of his favorite caretakers? Maybe he saw her killing someone with a loving family?), causing him to decide to leave the League next time they let him outside.
He was discovered by the Fentons, got adopted, and had his name changed from Damian Al Ghul into Daniel 'Danny' Fenton. Over the years, his time in the League slowly faded from memory, only remembering that one moment that drove him from them.
Talia, meanwhile, tried to create another baby, but found she didn't have any more DNA from Bruce. However, she did have plenty of Damian/Danny's DNA, so she decided to simply clone her son, making sure that this one would never get it in his head to run away. She decided to let the memory of her first son go, completely overriding it with the new Damian, as if he had been the first son and not merely some clone, forcing everyone in the League to keep the fact a secret.
So, things continue on, Danny becomes Phantom, Damian becomes Robin, so on and so forth. Eventually, one of the Batclan stumble upon Danny and take an interest in him once they realize he looks like Damian.
They actually don't think that he's a clone, because he's older than Damian and records show him having a history older than Damian, so they believe that Talia had another child, which Damian is already a little salty about, because it means that his status as the heir of the League and potentially his title as the only blood son of batman are completely meaningless.
Unfortunately, their investigations lead to the League figuring out where Danny is, at which point Talia drops by and decides to reveal in front of everyone that Danny is the original Damian and Damian is a clone meant to take his place.
The only one who takes it well is Danny, who tells everyone to get off his porch before he activates the home defense systems because he does not care for this drama.
[ID: A Scum Villain comic. Shang Qinghua puts his hand on a desk to tell Shen Qingqiu, "You're a good bitch." (Shen Qingqiu says, "No I'm not.") Then Shang Qinghua gestures to himself and says, "I'm a bad bitch." (Shen Qingqiu says, "No you're not.")
Then the two strikes poses, Shang Qinghua kicking up a leg and throwing out a peace sign as he grins widely and Shen Qingqiu smirking with one hand under a chin and the other holding a fan. Light, stars, and hearts radiate from them as they exclaim, "That's why everyone hates us." End ID] (from @/princess-of-purple-prose !!, thank you btw, i hadnt thought to do this before!)
Maybe my favorite thing about re4 remake is all the moments that feel distinctly human, in a really heartbreaking way. Like when the game makes me go ‘oh my god that’s just Some Guy in a horrific situation’
All of the Ashley moments count as this for me but I wanted to post my top 3 Leon/Luis moments because they’ve been replaying in my head for days:
1. Luis turning his head away when he thinks he’s about to witness Leon being murdered by Mendez:
This one took me a little while to notice but it feels so sad because it’s like, to me he obviously just doesn’t want to have to watch another person die for what he perceives to be a direct consequence of his actions 😭
2. The way Leon’s voice cracks on the word ‘up’ when you look at this human sacrifice situation:
It reminds me of 21 year old Leon tbh.
3. Leon’s little stumble when he tries to get up and rush to Luis when he collapses after saving Leon from Krauser (this one is so owie to me)
“Were you trained as a dancer?”
“An acrobat. My whole family are acrobats.”

“Some people see a magic trick and say, ‘Impossible!’ They clap their hands, turn over their money, and forget about it ten minutes later. [..] And then there are the ones who stay awake, running through the trick again and again, looking for that skip in perception, the crack in the illusion that will explain how their eyes got duped; they’re the kind who won’t rest until they’ve mastered that little bit of mystery for themselves. I’m that kind.”

I have some advice to writers in fandom: if you start to feel like fandom is making you dislike your own writing, get the hell out. Do not wait, do not pull halfway out, fucking go. Fandoms are vicious and there are people out there who make themselves feel better by tearing others down. Waiting for likes teaches you to externalize your sense of self-worth. Reblogs and follower counts become unspoken competitions.
Leave with your sense of self-worth intact. Loving your writing is worth more than anything you could possibly get out of fandom, I promise you.
