Book of the Week: To Be a Virtuous Wife

My Synopsis: Qu Qing Ju lives by one philosophy: here for a good time, not a long time. That means eating well, dressing beautifully, and, due to lack of modern entertainment, outmaneuvering all the tyrants who bullied her original host. It doesn't hurt that this life comes ready-set with a handsome husband in tow. Said husband, He Heng—between scheming against his brothers for the throne—just wants to know if his new wife has always been this interesting.

My Actual Review: In order to understand Qu Qing Ju as a character, you need to understand that despite her being a girls girl, that doesn't mean she'll take shit. So she's all for empowering the women around her—as long as they don't fuck with her bottom line. For the characters who meet that condition, she coexists peacefully with them, and they love her. Fuck with her, though? You'll never have another peaceful day, if you’re so lucky to even have a long life. There's probably more I could say about He Heng, but honestly, the thing that most stuck with me was how much man just really loved his wife and desperately wanted to know she loved him back.

As much as this story involves the main character getting revenge against those who transgressed against the original host, I feel like a good deal of tension in the story comes from He Heng trying to convince Qu Qing Ju that he is not a useless man that'll abandon her the moment something new and shiny comes along. Lots of narrative discussion about the role of women in ancient China, the unreliability of men, and how women need to be able to depend on each other for aid rather than clinging to the power of others in hopes of earning a secure life, which is a common discussion in all of this author's josei novels. Speaking of which: content warnings for the usual with this author, including underage marriage, pregnancy, etc. (if you want to count it, since technically the mc transmigrates in as an adult, but the original host's body is a teen). Other than this, a little bit of suspense and a whole lot of comedy is the mood of this novel!

A/N: Time for some good and wholesome (mostly) cuddles and domestic goodness.

Blade isn't the biggest fan of cuddles but if you really crave them then he will oblige, but you need to let him be the one to start them. However if you let him cuddle you then you need to be prepared for a little hand wondering, particularly under your shirt as his hands can get a little cold. Keep them warm and he'll keep you warm.

Dan Heng gives minimal cuddles on work days but on the weekends he's all over you to make up for the lost time. A little lazy with them though, waddling over to you while you're making something to drink in the morning and wrapping his arms loosely around you as best as he can and letting his chin rest on your bare shoulder which he then kisses for good morning and beckons you back to bed for more.

Gepard is a huge fan of cuddles with you. Can't get enough actually and will spend his days off almost glued to your side. Likes to lay his head on your chest and look at you while you massage his scalp, and its in moments like those that he will let you hear some of his singing, before he gets embaressed by it due to your soft chuckle.

Jing Yuan doesn't even need you to ask to cuddle with him, he just naturally does so, pulling you into his lap even in his office and going over the papers that you have for the day. It feels much better to work while cuddling such a pretty woman like yourself then to be all alone in his office. But you might want to stop moving around so much, otherwise it won't be his papers that will be spread on the table.

Kafka only cuddle with you after she'd teased and overstimulated you thoroughly and you're shaking in her lap. You look so cute like that, flustered and needy for more of her attention. Just how she likes. She knows you can't handle another make out session so for now you can wrap yourself around her, let her pet you and tell you what a good girl you've been until you calm down.

Sampo loves cuddles with you at any time of day or night. You can feel free to take him by the hand and drag him over to the bed, push him down and bury your face in his neck and not let him get up for hours on end. You're so demanding, but he knew that when he started dating you. He'll give you all the attention and kisses you need, free of charge.

Welt cannot fall asleep after a long day without cuddling with you. He does love his job but every day he looks forward to going home because he knows you'll be waiting to embrace and kiss him. If you're in the mood he might initiate a lazy make out session for a little while before he pulls you against his chest and kisses your forehead.

he'd fill jars of little strips of paper of just compliments he's used on you before, or even square-ish paper filled with little doodles of you, or the both of you

kind of clingy, in a good way though! just attaches himself to you and stuff when you don't pay attention to him, he doesn't communicate too well so bare with him!!

tingyun spends time with you, and sometimes even brings you along when she has work! besides yukong doesn't mind~ and of course, this wouldn't be a tingyun post of mine without me saying she would tease, and would love when you get flustered from her silly words!!!! and would love physical touch ngl?!?! like falls in love all over again when you cuddle her, now you get to see her red!
