#man it is so rough to follow someone because you like their star wars opionions#but every time they talk about buffy the vampire slayer its the most absolutely rancid take I've ever seen#like admittedly they watched the show as a teenager and got latched onto a certain perspective way back when#but i have had to witness posts from them such as 'angels redemption story is actually the best and most accurate ever'#and 'spike is a victorian colonizer which is why he only kills slayers of color and also he's lying about slayers having a death wish'#what an absolutely boring reading of the show!!#like yeah spikes character is inherently racist the entire damn show is inherently racist#name me one character of color that isn't some brutally murdered cultural caraciture and/or near hated by the fandom#not to mention i think its pretty well established that buffy does have a death wish through season 5#which is further elaborated on an expanded through season 6#i think the slayer death wish is compelling!! it's interesting!! it's tragic!!!!!#saying 'actually no spike is an unreliable narrator' like I can see your point (with a heavy dose of death of the author) but its so boring#it simplifies buffy and the slayers and puts too much glitter on their horrible sacred destiny#also like fine spike is a colonizing british victorian dude#but then we're gonna have to have a really long conversation about giles
