my cousin started bawling her eyes out today bc she received a turkey carving knife that was older than i am when she was expecting some nora fleming stuff
#ok ok this is misleading bc 1. it was a good bawling hers eyes out not a bad one and 2. it was bc it was our grandfather's and he taught#her how to carve a turkey with that knife and it was a bit of a jumpscare for her bc she Knew she was getting nora fleming stuff#but she didn't know she was getting anything associated with him#(he's been dead for years but my grandma just recently moved out of their house and all her gifts were items from the house which she#either couldn't bring with her but couldn't get rid of/had some connection to us bc of well. money constraints.#and most of us knew what we were getting in advance. i personally had the decency to forget what my gift was 10 seconds before it was#handed to me. confusing everyone in the room bc i'd known for months and everyone else had known and known that i'd known for months#but it was a pair of chicken statues that she'd had over her stove for years and had gotten when i was a little kid#so they were like. a Much more significant thing for me than for anyone else bc she loved those chicken statues and i was like 4 when she#got them so i vastly overestimated the significance of chicken statues in your average adult's life + i'm significantly younger than all my#cousins so they'd already solidified their idea of 'items associated with grandma' by the time the chickens were around)#romeo.txt
