satsuki is a light sleeper; she kind of has to be with a little kid, a trouble-making sister, and the job that she has. so she's well aware when nicolette opens the door to her room, even if the slayer does a good enough job of being quiet, and she's just awake enough to remember that the other woman should still be resting in her own bed. a small sigh pushes itself from her nose.

" you should be in bed, " satsuki murmurs, dark eyes sliding open to stare at nicolette. she hasn't got it in her to push or scold her, though, and truthfully, nicolette's wounds are well on the mend... and maybe the kakushi doesn't particularly want her to go ( she's been so busy, preoccupied with too many patients and not enough help; she's hardly seen nicolette ). satsuki shifts over and lifts her blanket, expression soft.

" c'mere. "

she won't ever admit this to nicolette, but satsuki still gets nervous sometimes. like now, as they face each other on their sides, she can feel her heart beating a little faster. she can tell it jumps when she reaches over to brush stray hairs from her lover's face, trailing fingertips along the curve of her jaw, and it hammers at her ribcage as if looking for an escape route when satsuki presses closer to kiss nicolette. she feels ridiculous at the giddy feeling that rises in her chest when the slayer returns her affection ( she can feel her smile against her lips, and her heart flutters like it has wings ).

it's embarrassing. it's embarrassing how much she likes it, how much she likes nicolette.

" did you come here just for kisses? " satsuki smiles, but it's hardly teasing. she looks too smitten. " you could have those whenever you wanted, you know. no sneaking required. "
