7x08 FINALLY FIXING CHONI

I've had issues with Choni for years. As much as I wanted the ship to work out, watching Cheryl dominate Toni's entire plot in seasons 3 & 4 was pretty rough. As I said in one of my video essays, I don't necessarily mind the fact that Toni becomes super whipped for Cheryl. I think it made sense for Toni's desire to save and placate Cheryl to rob her of herself. It's tragic and interesting to essentially watch Toni's heroic hubris fall against the raw power of Cheryl's untreated mental health problems. Toni wanted to save Cheryl, but she couldn't because love doesn't actually cure madness. However, the problem has always been that the writers have never explored what that means for Toni...The tragedy of her love for someone whose problems consume them both, whose personality consumes them both... UNTIL NOW.

When Toni left the Vixens and told Cheryl she'd lost herself, I shit you not, I screamed out loud. I was SHAKING. I felt like I was in a fever dream. FINALLY. Toni FINALLY tapping the brakes on her infatuation with Cheryl Blossom for her own sanity. I have never felt so alive.

Season 7 is actually making me fall in love with Choni. THEY ARE ADDRESSING THE ISSUES. I have cautiously high hopes for the rest of the season with these two.
