I (and many MANY very loud people) never liked William's personality from FNaF 6 onward because he just... didn't sound like he was suffering. The Evil Mastermind schtick just wasn't what Springtrap was meant to be like. When Willy was alive and actively building human juicers and systematically setting up haunted robots? sure. but the springlock suit was his punishment. His slice of hell on earth. he wasn't supposed to have fun in 6, but old peanut head got written that way anyway.

I think it's a lot more enjoyable in DBD, though!

It's like The Entity has taken the physical pain away. Years of torture and torturing have drove him crazy, and now he gets to really enjoy himself doing what started all this nonsense in the first place: dicing up people who are weaker than him for fun <3 with no physical pain blocking him

What I really find cool is how much they highlight the fact that William Afton/springtrap is just a full-on psycho (in DBD) who just wants to hurt others

Which I like more cause I view Afton as a man who wanted to hurt first, figure out immortality to escape his own actions
