A movie, he said. It was not the first time that Shinji had chosen to come out here, ever since he'd chosen to follow Keiko one day. How irritating. He could have moved, for he didn't feel attached to the land, but he had not done so. Of course, he'd treated his former captain (or his captain? he didn't know.) with a wary, suspicious tolerance. No, he didn't trust him. After the way things had gone in those final years between them? No. Aizen didn't trust him any longer, but he tolerated him. Of course, there were days when he didn't wish to be bothered and on those days, the kido barriers were given only to permit certain people within their walls.
Shinji had yet to earn that right.
Aizen had learned his lessons, after all, learned what Shinji sought to teach him, even if the words had not been entirely meant for his own ears. But he had learned. All the same, it was with a begrudging sort of tolerance that the blonde was allowed to even step into the territory that Aizen claimed for himself and today seemed a day more tolerant than most.
He'd only stared at him for a minute or so before he'd turned and headed back into the house he'd built, silently leaving the door open. It was not a refusal at the least.
❝ I hope that you brought your own snacks. ❞
Yes, it would still be some time yet until Aizen was comfortable allowing this man near his domain, near him. Gin would understand why, if he were here; he would comprehend the reasons as to why Aizen did not settle around the blonde - would know what the lack of refusal to play proper host meant too to Aizen. But he was letting him inside, at least.
It was progress, of a sort.
