The way Obikin naysayers reject the ship on the basis of Anakin having said Obi-Wan was the closest thing he had to a father - as if that fact ISN’T the fundamental basis for Anakin’s co-mingled longing/attraction for Obi-Wan given his psychological makeup in the first place - is genuinely puzzling to me.

When Anidala itself is so blatantly the product of Anakin’s Oedipus Complex, why is it so difficult to see that Obikin could so easily spring from the same well of longing?

#it's just more puritanical bullshit tbh #and puritans eschew critical thinking on narrow-minded principle #I mean I was a teenager when the PT came out #and the concept of Obikin when I first learned of the ship made perfectly natural sense to me #firstly Obi-Wan is hot AF and there's only 16 years between them #Obi-Wan's honestly just in that annoyingly attractive middle ground where his added maturity makes him hotter...#...but he's not actually old enough to be your father lol #and he and Anakin basically spent upwards of a decade living in each other's pockets while Anakin was a hormonal teenager #and the number of teenagers that are attracted to people much older than them is in fact extremely common #additionally Anakin never had a father so there's a specific sort of longing in him that could only be satisfied by someone older than him #and I say this being fatherless myself and having frequently experienced attraction to older men specifically *because* they're older lol #and them having ''fatherly'' vibes only added to the attraction rather than detracted from it #my random ramblings #me talking to myself in public about Star Wars #obikin
