Frederick Barnes (No. 47)

Played By: Robert Sean Leonard

"Barnes has always operated with a certain level of... detachment—always the designer, the seller. Never the delivery agent of his own weapons. But if Barnes is now willing to use his work to kill indiscriminately, then he is, quite literally, the most dangerous man in the world."

A former military scientist and known genius who worked in creating and developing WMDs for the U.S. military under DARPA, now a chemical weapons killer for hire.

Anti-Villain: Barnes is motivated by love for his son and takes no pleasure in his acts, acts which are nevertheless monstrous.

All for Nothing: It's all but stated that by the time the FDA finishes testing the cure he developed for his son's rare condition, the boy will be dead.

Character Death: Liz shoots him to prevent him from injecting his son with an untested cure. This, notably, is an action Liz comes to regret or at least question.

Even Evil Has Loved Ones: His son.

Faux Affably Evil: He acts like most of Robert Sean Leonard's characters—calm, very polite, somewhat awkward. Then he lets a trainload of people die horrifying deaths.

I Did What I Had to Do: He will go to any lengths to save the life of his son.

Mad Scientist: A genius at designing biological weapons, he's gone off the deep end and started publicly using them to commit mass murder.

A Million Is a Statistic: He'll sacrifice the whole damn country in pursuit of a cure for his son's rare condition.

Papa Wolf: Willing to kill thousands, even millions, to save his son, Ethan.

Put Your Gun Down And Step Away: He pulls this on Liz. It works the first time. It doesn't the second time.

Well-Intentioned Extremist: He is just trying to cure his son from a rare disease.

Would Hurt a Child: Barnes is willing to murder a child amongst the other train passengers. Even after seeing the boy, he continues with his plan without hesitation.

I really loved it I'll be honest

Great length of video - one hour - long enough for ppl who want entertainment to last through the week, and for 1-sit-watch typ'a viewers

Also love that they're doing something new + creative!! Me personally, I love fashion from runway to street fashion - it all interests me so much - so the people who really invested themselves in that video? They were absolutely stunning.

And you know how I love a George Clarkey + ATV guest feature - I feel like George really hit well with this video where he gets to experiment with character which feels quite fitting to his humour - ArthurTV - he's slightly less like that but in a way, he utilised his awkwardness within the "wine 'pon it" segment (will post clips tomorrow.)

I think in the different genres of sidemen videos: Game Shows, Travel, Money-based challenge, creatives - I like creatives most. Creatives and miscellaneous vids where they bring new ideas to the table - like the YLYL (I realise it's a very common concept: but it's not rly on the sidemen channel), THAT was a smash hit video imo.

All in all?

I'd give it a 10/10, I feel like it all really balanced out well.

Only slight qualm?

I love me some BambinoBecky but bloody Hell is she a tough host to watch. I don't know whether producers made the room more silent than it was or people just didn't laugh at much she said - but that was the only unenjoyable watch.

Least to Most Likely:

Edmund Bertram & Fanny Price: It is all very proper. They probably have sex with their clothes on after the wedding.

Fitzwilliam Darcy & Elizabeth Bennet: She would have been down, he wasn't. He later congratulates himself on his excellent self control.

Edward Ferrars & Elinor Dashwood: There were definitely smooches, but after that roller coaster of a courtship, Elinor wants things legal and in writing. Also, just because something feels good doesn't make it right, MARIANNE.

A little about Mercer County Ohio

Mercer County lies at the Western border of Ohio with Indiana. It was organized in 1824 but first created in 1820 and named for a Revolutionary War general: Hugh Mercer. As of the 2020 census, the population was 42,528. You may or may not know the county from its largest (population 10,935) city Celina, which began growing in the 1880s after oil deposits and natural gas were discovered nearby. In our modern day, Mercer County's economy relies on manufacturing--Crown Equipment Corporation, Reynolds and Reynolds, and aluminum manufacturing--as well as agriculture.

About the flag

On April 4, 2002, the County Commissioners adopted this official county flag for the first time in its history. The celebration of Ohio's 200th Birthday was the catalyst for the endeavor. Over thirty designs were received from students, residents and workers of Mercer County. The commissioners accepted the flag created by a group of nine individuals employed by Fanning/Howey Associates located in Celina, the county seat.

The Ohio Channel

Barn –  Mercer County’s strength and heritage in agricultural is clearly represented by the silhouette of an 1800’s style barn.

Three amber bands –  The three bands across the bottom of the flag represents the different colors of crops as they ripen and are ready for harvest.

Lighthouse –  The lighthouse is a symbol for Grand Lake.  The largest man-made lake in Ohio and a natural resource as well as recreation for Mercer County.

Six Beams of Light –  Each of the six schools in Mercer County is represented by their prevalent school color as a beam of light coming from the lighthouse:  red for St. Henry, orange for Coldwater, gold for Parkway, green for Celina, blue for Marion Local, and purple for Fort Recovery.

Foundation of Lighthouse – The foundation of the lighthouse is comprised of  fourteen stone blocks, representing the fourteen townships in Mercer County, Ohio.

I've seen the Blacklist episode, "Frederick Barnes" that saw Robert Sean Leonard play the main titular villain and holy crap, he was amazing in it.

To see him go from being an ordinary man to a mass-murderer who used a gas to kill many people, first on a train and then in a court room, all because he wants to find a cure for his dying son while blending in with his surroundings was chilling.

That role in the Blacklist has made me believe RSL is incredible at playing evil men and he really should guest-star in more TV shows as a villain.
