Myths of the Realm Spoilers Below
I’m disappointed in how long it took me to realize that the instances are named after the Charites... but knowing that the first is Aglaia (Derivative of Aglaea), and the upcoming second is Euphrosyne, the third is definitely going to be Thalia, which is kind of perfect, since the first boss will be Thaliak. But what I think is the most interesting question is- given that the names of the Myths of the Realm series are all rooted in Greek, the implication is that the Twelve and their realm have some connection to the Ancients, due to the shared Greek naming scheme. But what will that connection be? We know that nearly all of the Fourteen share names with Greek gods (Emet-Selch is Hades, Lahabrea is Hephaistos, Elidibus is Themis, Loghrif is Gaia, Mitron is Artemis, and Fandaniel is Hermes, though Pashtarot, Altima, Emmerololth, Halmarut, Deudalaphon, and to my knowledge, Igeyorhm and Nabriales’ true names are unknown), so the names for the wings of MotR also sharing names with Greek deities is impossible to ignore, but is also very confusing, considering that from what we currently know, the Twelve came to be in the Time of the Twelve, the age before the First Umbral Calamity but after the Sundering. I doubt the writing team would take the easy way out and just say “Oh, the Ancients’ naming scheme just hadn’t fully died out yet, hence the Greek names”, and I’m confident there must be a deeper reason. Maybe the Twelve were Ancients who survived the Sundering, or something along those lines? That could explain their deific powers- perhaps they’re simply some echo of the Ancients’ creation magic.
I don’t really have a point with this. Just speculation.
