"Happy birthday, buddy!" Andy had come up behind the boy and tugged him into a one armed hug, the other busy ruffling through the mop of curls on his head.
"Watch it!" Rabbit wiggled from his grip, but there was no hiding the grin on his face when he turned around. Without missing a beat, he pulled the young man into a tight hug, which was returned full heartedly. "You're home! I thought you'd be out partying with your fraternity." He teased, "Or whatever frats do. Wear togas and get STDs."
Rolling his eyes, Andy let go of him and gave him a playful pat to his cheek. "I mean you're not entirely wrong, but I've avoided the STDs." He said and smiled for him. "I guess I didn't want to miss out. Eighteen's a big birthday."
Oh. Rabbit blushed and rubbed the side of his neck. Ever since Desmond had shown him that letter, Andy made it known he didn't feel the same, but stuck around anyway. He was really grateful. Having a friend like Andy Campbell took a lot of the edge off at school and after he joined the swim team, it practically disappeared. He was still Rabbit, but no longer the sole target of the school's ire. However, it didn't change the fact that he still had the world's biggest crush on the guy. "You really didn't have to stop by for that, dude. It's just a birthday."
Andy tilted his head and smirked, "If you want me to go, I will." He said, "But you won't get your present."
Blinking, Rabbit narrowed his eyes and pursed his lips. "...What sort of present?"
"You'll just have to follow me and find out, huh?" Andy grinned and pat his cheek again, "C'mon."
The two walked and talked. It was easy to catch up with Andy, he was so receptive and curious and just genuinely interested in the things he said. Rabbit told him about how his senior year was going, about the books he read, and everything that was going on with the swim team. They skipped over the issues at home, not because he couldn't tell him, but because he wanted this to stay happy. It was rare he got to see him ever since he'd gone off to college.
Andy did the same. He told Rabbit about his classes this semester and the baseball team and what they actually did in the frat. He talked about the friends he made and the clubs he joined, but every time Rabbit tried to ask him about any romance, he quickly dodged the question. He was used to that; Andy was very private about his love life. And honestly, it was probably a blessing that he was, Rabbit wasn't sure what he'd do with the resulting jealousy if he ever did talk about it.
"Where the fuck are we going?" Rabbit glanced around. They were close to the local park, but Andy wasn't leading him to the grounds. Instead, he veered off the pathway and into the tree line. "Andrew!"
Laughing, Andy peeked back and grinned. "Trust me, Jonny!" He said, "We're close, I promise."
He did trust him. Rabbit trusted him with his life. Huffing, he followed along until they reached a tiny clearing. In the center was a blanket spread out and a cooler on the side. Andy had set up lunch for them. Swallowing, his face grew to a hot red and watched as the young man bounced over and plopped himself down. Andy pat the spot next to him and smiled, "Surprise!"
Rabbit stumbled over and sat down, his eyes wide as he glanced everything over. There was a little gift bag in the center of the blanket with a card attached that Andy quickly nudged towards him. "Open it!"
Giving the boy a nervous glance, he went for the bag first. Inside was a book-- The updated foraging guide. Rabbit grinned and quickly started flipping through it. "I've been meaning to buy this! Thank you!"
"Keep digging." Andy mused, his smile warm and cheeky.
Reaching in again, he pulled out a tiny velvet box and blinked. Tilting his head, he opened it to reveal Andy's class ring. Rabbit's brows furrowed. Why? What was that for? He had one of his own he never wore; why would he give him his? When he glanced up to ask, he was met with a warm kiss. It was tender and slow and it made his heart beat so hard, he thought it'd escape and run away.
Andy broke first, his green eyes searching Rabbit's bright red face and puzzled expression. He was adorable. "You told me if I ever had an answer to pull you aside and kiss you." He said, his voice soft but happy. "I should've done it earlier, but I was too chicken... Jonny, I've been in love with you from the day we met. I hope it's not too late to say it."
Rabbit sputtered, his eyes wide. He tried to talk but couldn't. Yes! Yes, of course, yes! He loved him too! Whimpering, he tackled the boy onto the blanket and kissed him again. It was longer and open and curious-- Every pent up emotion and refrained touch came out all at once. His hands were on him, sliding over his arms and chest before holding his cheeks. Andy did much of the same as he returned the heated kiss, his own hands shaking a little as they finally got to give in to touching him. Wide fingers slid up the back of Rabbit's shirt and traced at his spine while his chin tilted up to give him more access to his mouth. Rabbit was just as sweet as he always imagined.
Pulling away with a pant, Rabbit grabbed the box and slid the stupid ring on his middle finger. They were going steady. Fuck! Andy barely got out a laugh before Rabbit was on him again, straddling while he kissed into his mouth.
Andy moaned; he couldn't help himself. He laughed against the lips on his as he felt the shudder roll up through Rabbit's body. Well. It was his birthday, wasn't it? He'd only planned for a picnic, but this was secluded enough time give him a little more. Lapping at his tongue, he broke the kiss with a soft pop and panted. "Lay down on the blanket." He breathed, watching Rabbit blink at him again. Giggling, he nodded him over. "Just lay down."
Rabbit did as he was told and kept himself propped up on his elbows. "What's the matter?" He asked through breaths, "Did I do it wrong? That was the first time I ever-"
Snorting, Andy smirked and shook his head. "I've got another present. Just relax." He said and moved to lay between Rabbit's thighs. Glancing up at him, he laughed again at the look on the boy's face before undoing his belt and zipper. With red cheeks, he bit his lip and eyed the start of tenting beneath his underwear. Andy pulled them down a little and stared with shiny eyes. Wrapping his fingers around his cock, he gave a few tentative strokes. He was pretty even here, pink at the tip with a strong vein down the underside. Fuck, he shouldn't have waited so long.
"Andy!" Rabbit sputtered again, his face beet red. "Y-You don't have to- Hrk!" A pair of soft lips enveloped him, the wet tongue that'd been in his mouth just seconds early rolling slow around the tip. Gasping, his hand knocked the hat off Andy's head and his fingers quickly slipped into his hair. "Oh my god-"
The older boy laughed and pulled back to kiss the vein he'd been admiring, drawing his tongue along it and feeling it pulse. Glancing up at Rabbit, he snorted again and took him back in to suck. As Rabbit writhed and whimpered and tugged at his hair, he hummed to him, soft and cheeky.
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Jonny. Happy birthday to-
Rabbit choked and whined out. His hips bucked and his body froze as he spilled himself into the mouth of the boy he'd been in love with for four years. One last tug of his soft hair, he collapsed against the blanket and panted. When he glanced up again, it was right in time to watch Andrew lick up a little of the dribble from his bottom lip before using his thumb to swipe away the rest. That went between his lips too like he was too eager to waste even a little of it. Rabbit felt like someone had set him on fire.
Crawling up to lay beside him, Andy smiled and leaned in to kiss his cheek. "Sorry for taking so long, Jonny." He whispered to him, "Forgive me?" Rabbit watched him with soft eyes and nodded, still trying to catch his breath. "Y-Yeah."
Andy grinned and quickly tackled him down again, stealing a deep kiss from his lips. "Good, 'cause there's more for you where that came from."
