listen . sukuna only broke up with you because he was so fucking terrified of commitment – after years of failed relationships (he always picked partners who were toxic for him) and trauma he never addressed in therapy (burying your feelings does not make you fine), the fact that you genuinely loved him and wanted to spend your life with him despite his faults freaked him out. he thought you deserved somebody better than he was, somebody who wasn't a piece of shit, so he ended it in the most unhealthy way possible.

but that didn't suddenly make him stop being in love. even if he didn't want to face it, he Loved You A Lot. the sappy, i'll kill somebody for them i want to make them tea in the morning kind of love. the kind that had him at your beck and call whenever you needed it, picking you up from girl's night at the bar and driving you halfway across town to go home. all that breaking up with you did was make sukuna feel even worse than he did before. where he thought that being alone again would quell that fear of vulnerability, he instead found himself looking back on old photographs and memories you shared every night when the 9pm thoughts hit. he didn't want to be alone – he wanted you, forever, but he was too much of a coward to admit it.
