Animal Symbolism

I love diving into using animal symbolism for my muses !

For Niah, I usually use the Dove as the animal that represents her peaceable nature, kindness, reservedness, and hope - purity of heart when it comes to being sincere in her dealings with people. She does her best to be real instead of wearing a mask like everyone else. It's the most fitting animal for her character. This also appeals to her interests in birds and cherishing life, whether it's people, animals, or the natural world. At a deeper depth, the Wolf fits her person as well, which displays her ability to utilize insight and wisdom in certain circumstances. There's a sense of loyalty/unity towards ones close to her, and a quiet confidence that surrounds her, and again, a connection to nature.

Spike is a bit of another story, for just one animal alone is not enough to showcase the whole spectrum of his character. Really, I use four animals that represent him, which falls in line with my Ravenous Beast headcanon for him. The Dragon, Wolf, Snake, and Cat/Tiger- all four creates a chimaera that bespeaks of his predatory, violent nature he keeps subdued. I'll eventually make an entire meta about the representation of these animals for him, but for the most part, these animals encapsulate his primal instincts, such as greed, violence, vengefulness, etc, to name a few. However, one of these animals possess something small, which is ' love' that flickers in the darkness of his being.
