Honestly, I always wondered what would have happened if Aegon II had blamed his mother's loyal lapdog for the rumors about Rhaenyra's sons. It would make sense in the eyes of Viserys' court because Cole never made his hatred towards the Princess secret and was constantly pitting her sons against Alicent's. Seeing as how Cole doesn't have a political leg to stand on and he failed to keep an eye on the kids resulting in Aemond getting maimed, the King would be enraged and immediately strip him of his cloak and send him to the Wall in disgrace. I don't think even Alicent would protest because at least Cole is taking the blame for something that she did.

The drabble is nothing serious. It's just an idea I came up with because as much as I loathe Aegon II, I know the little shit would come up with a way to punish his younger brother for accusing him of spreading slander against his sister's sons. Aemond being Aemond would hate his brother more than ever and make it his sole mission to get back at Aegon for every slight and every hurt. Those two are like pale reflections of Viserys and Daemon...except they now want to kill each other. Plus, it would spare Lucerys of Aemond's obsession.

It's a what-if fanfiction where Aegon puts his Hightower cunning to good use and immediately places all the blame on Criston Cole because he knows he didn't spread those rumors and decides to save his own skin by spitefully placing all the blame on Criston Cole. In doing so, he inflames his younger brother's hatred even more, depriving himself of Aemond's reluctant loyalty and earning a lifelong enemy.

The Greens are already a mess. What if they fractured from within and turned against each other like rats because of pettiness, cruelty, and obsession? It would force Alicent to realize that she obsessed over Rhaenyra so much that she neglected to raise her sons properly. By then, it'll be too late.

Like I said, nothing serious. Greens fighting each other fascinates me.
