every several months i get about *this close* to writing a spelling reform manifesto like an absolute asshole. UNLIKE absolute assholes though my spelling reform proposals do not involve pretenses like “phonetic spelling” that rely on the illusion that there is a correct phonetic version of each written word that is consistently underlying in every dialect or even idiolect tho
