hello icha!!!!! learned from my mistakes and typed this out in a separate document. first i have to say im feeling a very deep connection with citron as of late bc i was giving myself a pep talk abt like physics and i told myself "face up and man the music!" and was like "...is that wrong. theres that song called man against the music isnt there... yeah it must be right" and. well i realized later. i also think the phrase "dont cry because it happened, smile because its over" is very good. also I’m halfway thru creating a very eclectic list of like. a Pokémon team for each a3 character which is… something. kinda knew it would happen to me. might take a while for me to finish it tho now that I’m halfway bc I’m suddenly having a crisis like “wait shit I’m only confident on my understanding and characterizing of like 4 characters am I good enough” so… it’s slow going lol. anyways. i finished that damn physics thing I was giving myself a pep talk about and so am treating myself to autumn/winter. happens that watching these events is also like. the only thing which reminds me to actually like. log into a3 lol. i am so bad at gacha games. probably a good thing in the long run. ok starting from the top!

hisoka going "zzz" as his reaction made me immediately go... oh dear, please dont fall asleep in the bath and guess what happened. yeah. good thing homare was there lol. speaking of i fucking adore homare and his poetry. id buy his collection. i also wish there was a collection like if there was a master list of every poem he says in like. at the very least main story. if not i will literally do it myself. i love homare so much im like him in that back when i had to play dodgeball id always be like kufufufu they cant hit me if im friendless enough that no one pays attention to me but like in my case it actually worked out. on the subject of the pillow fight tho, hisoka's crazy strong pillow fight throw... one more mark on the list for suspicious, maybe assassin occupation. this event made me realize how much i missed winter like. i saw the stranger pretty recently (which has caused the effect of be being like "taichi!! thats my boy!!" in my head everytime he shows up lol but anyways i havent gotten to a winter play yet so im VERY hype. especially bc this seems like it stars hisoka and homare??? like oh!! oh!!!! also detective fiction... im swooning. i also just enjoy the hisoka homare dynamic a whole fucking lot i think its nice how homare was like "yeah im ride or die for this funky lil amnesiac, why wouldnt you be?" and its just like. nice. feel like hes always reaching out to hisoka which is like. man homare is so nice.

back to chronology. ofc sakyo goes cheap for the hot springs lol. on brand as ever. was very hype for the azuma sakyo dynamic bc all i remember is like azuma trashing everyone including sakyo at some game or the other in one of the winter chapters and it was very good. or was this a clip in like a stage play? either way it was delightful. at first i misinterpreted taichi going "…" after azuma and sakyo said theyd never been on a field trip bc like. taichi being quiet or noncommunicative... after going thru autumn troupe act 1 it makes me fear for my life a little lol. anyways im glad he was just like planning fun times. speaking of taichi tho we got a tasuku taichi pair for etudes!!!! im not spoiling myself for later events but i hope to GOD tasuku and taichi do like a lead co lead in SOMETHING or at least like some mixed troupe event i want them to talk!!!

also dunno if this is an intentional pun but i enjoy that its called high spirits at the hot spring bc like oh theyre having fun but also bc like. "spirits" is used to refer to a certain type of alcohol i think? which is cool. dunno if its intentional but i liked that. anyways the talent show. taichis moving rendition of single ladies... ok i know it said single fellas but like. we know. wonder if that line was a different song in japanese? its not too old at ALL tho imo. anyways the way banri and juza being themselves Are the entertainment... flashback to when banri slaps juza live on stage instead of doing a stage slap lol. my reaction to azuma essentially went:

azuma: I can offer to bare my soul, and a little more ;)

izumi: what do u mean by that???

me: hey tasuku and omi were shirtless what's ur problem with azuma

anyways i reread and from what i understand they were maybe only flexing and doing a gun show? which like. no wonder it didnt last too long then lol. also explains why they didnt have shirtless sprites i suppose lmao. i am SO curious abt what azuma ended up doing tho that fade to black is so mysterious! did he tap dance? did he pole dance? the world will never know...

oh also im not like super familiar with azuma yet but my read on his personality is definitely like "I am so touch starved All The Time but I will be chill. :) :) this is fine :)" like he just seems to rly like being around people! just like basking in presence whether or not hes rly talking that much.

i enjoyed that juza mentioned pillow fighting with his lil brother... thats nice! i think a lot of this event was just focused on ppl having fun over the drama lol bc it got wrapped up sooo quick. i liked the bit where sakyos worried that izumi was out late searching for him tho it was so sweet. table tennis match was very fun although id argue calling hisoka and juza the two quietest tho lol like... banri exists so juza isnt quiet. just like inevitably. finally, the event cg!!! azumas hair tied up... so nice! thats how I tie my hair up sometimes tho it doesnt look nearly as nice lol. taichi rambling abt his first love for so long tho... lol. ill be honest i have to reread autumn bc i was not aware of this whole situation until it came up in the stranger and i like inferred from there. the end of this event was nice! it was cute. i dont rly have much thoughts on it but im so hype for the winter play

lmao i'm glad the events help you remember to play a3, i'm sure that by the time you'll be done with the events you will have unlocked so much of act 2 you won't have to worry too much about it. Anyway i'm glad you treat yourself to good things :3c

of course Hisoka fell asleep in the bath. tbh this event was a lot of "Hisoka almost dies in a spring house multiple times if it wasn't for his troupesmates". Between sleeping in the bath and almost swallowing the table tenis ball... where would we be without Winter, and especially Homare, taking care fo him.

I'm SO GLAD you like Homare that much! he's so so good! i'm sure there must be a masterlist somewhere, or well. can be done anytime i guess?? but yeah Homare is fantastic and LDJFDLKFJDF the evil plan to avoid dodgeball from both of you.. this is incredible DLKJFDLKF. But yeah alas he's loved by his own so he gets hit smh.

And yeah Hisoka is just acting sus huh.

I'm sO GLAD you like their dynamic! yeah i adore it too. Homare was so quick to leap into taking care of Hisoka? Like i mean he immediatly called him sleeping beauty when they first met, and immediately decided to be his roommates to watch over him, and then he did everything to take care of him and it's just so sweet. Homare has such a big heart he's so gentle with Hisoka. Homey and comfortable, whenever Hisoka admits it or not ahah.

ahah wouldn't be Sakyo if he didn't need to stay cheap. BUT YEAH the Sakyo/Azuma dynamic is pretty good. oh the event you talk about i think is in some of his very first backstage storyes (that you can read if you have them since they're at this point of the chronology). There's one where they play a mafia game and Sakyo is warry of Azuma because "people like him are those you need to worry about the most" and Azuma is just ":) you wound me :) i would never :)" and then Azuma wins the game and starts to mess with everyone. It was so fun. and yeah i see which clip you mean for the stage play!! it's so so fun they have such a neat dynamic and i loved to see it in this event as well.

and omg worrying about Taichi while he was just there preparing a fun time! this child really would have worried us all back then huh

but AHH YEAH TASUKU TAICHI.... It's such a neat dynamic! ofc i won't say anything but man i love the potential of their stories, as the two ex Godza boys. To see them bond and be comfortable with each other always make me so soft.

your read on Azuma's personality feels pretty spot on to me ahah omg. Staying with what you know about him, the fact that with his job and all, he seems like he's starving for connection while also terrified to make himself emotionally vulnerable. He loves staying with people, listening to them, caring for them, and he's touch starved as hell (i mean it's his job) but he doesn't seem to really know how to be on the receiving hand of affection. there's a flair talk, i can't remember where, with Omi at some point, where Azuma compliments him, and Omi is just "mhm.. but you know i think that it's more about you" and ends up complimenting Azuma in depth and it let Azuma dumbfounded because he didn't expect Omi to trick him at his own game, while Omi just genuinely don't get why Azuma is reacting that way. He gives he gives he gives, and he's genuinely happy with that, but he seems to have difficulties to take, or to demand for something, while also starving for it. I have so many emotions for Azuma.

Any mentions of Juza's little bro are the best things. I love this type of mention TwT

And yeah it was such a laid back event. Honestly deserved after the crying fest that was The Stranger imo. It's good to relax once in a while and it was nice to have them have fun. There was the bitterness of both Azuma and Sakyo's past that was always a bit looming but everyone was working so hard for them to enjoy themselves that the joy just overtake any sadness i loved it.

And yeah the Table Tennis match was so fun and chaotic LMAO. I love the dynamic between Juza and Hisoka. Just two usually quiet boys who like sweets. Except that yeah like you say, as long as Banri is around, Juza cannot be 100% quiet. Rip.

THE CG WAS SO PRETTY i loved seeing it. And omg you can share your hairtips with Azuma how nice :D Azuma manages to make everything look beautiful smh....

Oh yeah Taichi and his first love! if i recall he mentions it quickly at the begining, that Yuki reminds him of his first love, and he says that again at some point - then the fake Portrait he does he mentions his first love again. And since then it's been a reccuring topic so yeh :3c

but yeah! this event was really sweet and laid back, not much to say about it, but it was nice to have it at all!

Why is Syo your favorite person from utapri?

so before i ramble lets make a cut cos ure in for a ride

long story short, i started SL since day 1 with only 1 purpose

apparently despite me loving this guy and tier 1-ing his event, he never loved me back because during that whole time i only pulled gacha banners with reiji in it and i only got him like a few times (say hes SR id only get him after 900prisms at LEAST) and needless to say i never got any of his gacha URs 

worst case was force live reiji which i prolly spent over 2k prisms and he came home AFTER the stupid card got added into the permanent pool. 

oddly enough during this time i found syo’s talking voice rly hot but it kinda felt like a guilty pleasure cos i didnt want to betray reiji, also i dont wanna go to jail but big jaguar syo is really cute.

i went on hiatus after a year of playing SL cos i mentally broke from reiji not coming home, i also had some falling out with utapri friends over best boys and whatever at that time too (couldnt bear to see them on my SL friend list when i go online) i still came back to the game every now and then for anniversary stuff /free pulls/ certain events and reiji didnt come home during anniversary obviously

but u know who came home though? syo. (except 3rd anni but we dont talk about that) i felt that he was there to support me this whole time its just that i never noticed it

time skip to 2 years later which is now, i realised im probably a closeted shimono/ syo fan this whole time so i came back to SL with a different mindset hoping ill stay in this game longer this time

if youre solely asking for character then fair warning because whatever i say next cant fully convey what i feel about syo exactly since i suck at words.

i definitely like syo because shimono voices him but honestly syo is such a warm character, hes been through so much and is still a pretty genki (energetic) boy, i rewatched his specific moments in utapri and i just.. admire his strength, you feel? man’s mentally tougher than ill ever be and i realy... have no words other than i admire that quality of his.

i love the tone shimono uses when syo’s being gentle (to haruka or anyone alike) it contrasts with his usual screaming and what not (its kinda similar to how i feel about Kimetsu no Yaiba’s zenitsu but less extreme. 

i love his character design, he looks so good! I would choose him in otome routes without knowing the seiyuu behind it, its aesthetically pleasing for me to look at him, ever since i started SL. (Yeah that’s cos hes a fashion icon, Snek.) in my defense i have shit taste in fashion so that doesnt mean anything to me but yeah i do kinda love how he dresses and ignores the stereotypical masculine traits with his skirts and nail polish 

while i didnt particularly like his singing at first, his future songs other than oresama rondo were pretty good (even before i got into liking shimono, cosmic runner/Chging our song and otokogi zenkai go fight rly slaps)  and i tried giving his singing another chance and now i think even oresama rondo is pretty good as well ww, shimono san has worked so hard im so proud of him..

so yeah i love his looks his personality his voice p much the full package(? as for reiji, im sure there are other fans that will take better care of him than i ever will, since he never found his way home (i probably still like him though, hes just not #1 anymore i think)

i havent done one of these since imaginary numbers huh. ok then, event review of that- golden week/waltz

Story- 5/10. im half glad it didnt end up being the dr roman angstfest that a lot of fans wanted it to be (hated that in cf, absolutely insulting to a good character/good characters). tho im sure itll come back into play eventually, esp if the fans want it. the actual story was meh, not bad but not any emotion tbh. ill take what i can get. i think if it had been like the first 2ish yrs of fgo i wouldve enjoyed it a lot more, but stuff like later part 1, 1.5, and all of lb 5 save atlantis has sapped all my enjoyment of that sorta stuff.

Free servant- 6/10. i dont feel super strongly towards ecchan, negative or positive. i really dont like the entire concept of “servant universe” bc its so forced and contradicts itself just by existing (”the lore doesnt matter” the lore never fucking mattered and you know it), and takes something that could be cool (like, that is, another planet in distant space where the same characters live but like. in space! which would be funny and fun) but gives it the most pretentious explanation and name that it takes all the fun out of it. i do like her monty python reference (tho thats another bag of worms towards my gripes at fgo, how that has to only be for jokes and the actual arthurian stuff is super irritatingly pompous and self absorbed) and her design is cute enough, and foreigner is appreciated bc i dont like a lot of them (or dont have interest in rolling them lol)

Gacha servant- 5/10. i mean, conspiracy theories that werent proven correct that i had, i wasnt expecting them to be, but who doesnt hope to see your favorite literary character appear? even if its unlikely. as it was i have no desire to roll so im happily sitting this one out and saving for sigurd/nemo/whoever

Event gameplay- 7/10. it wasn’t bad? it wasn’t anything new, but it wasn’t annoying which is nice. i hear its like summer 3 and i can see the similarity. its less complicated than that imo. in all i dont mind it. i liked the center mechanic and getting to listen more to the insert songs (still sad none of the last 4, since i rlly like scathach’s song esp), i found i rlly like serenity’s one!

Other- 6/10. the costumes were the central part imo, since they were pretty nice. i had almost all the featured servants (no jeanne or altera) but id rather have had okita get an outfit. i dont hate neros outfit, tho a lot of ppl give her hate. i mostly feel bad for ushi bc the side of her thats always pushed makes me more inclined to look at her unfavorably, but who she really is i dont have a problem with. in any case im annoyed no okita costume, but i can hope for the future/rerun/ect. a costume shop in the game permanently would be nice (adding in longtime teased outfits like apron or school outfit medusa, maid deon and sailor astolfo, ect). myroom was ok, i liked the pre event one much more than any of the event ones, and im a little annoyed it changed so frequently (preferred ecchan apt over miss crane studio, since we arent even supposed to be able to see it? what)

Overall- 6/10.

there was a lot of hate and i think the event wasnt marketed the best tbh. i think the fgo team is. not really the best at this or not trying since other games/series have become very popular, and its a little frustrating/disparaging to see (not that the fans are helping it any). tho tbh i probably enjoyed this as much as i wouldve a prototype, or tsukihime, or whatever other thing collab, heck i probably enjoyed it more than those two. i guess more than this ofc i wanted an extella collab (archimedes when) and i wouldnt mind arcade if it meant getting setanta. but thats that, i think a costume shop/regular costumes could improve fan reaction but idk and really it doesnt matter to me what fans think.

as far as other events since imaginary numbers:

christmas: 4.5/10. didnt hate it as much as like. the saber wars 2 (killed halloween) or req or meihouso (for what they did to my boy), but def abt the tier of guda4, ect. i didnt enjoy the free servant much, mostly bc it felt really joyless to have a santa that doesnt even dress up as santa (i know thats the haha funny joke but it was rlly boring compared to arcade’s cute suzuka)

tengu event: 4/10. mostly for (we dont talk abt this), but besides that kinda meh. i didnt really like the plot mechanic of the event, it felt really forced w the “chibi cu-style servant is cute uwu” thing thats forced in our faces for the millionth time w nothing new added. the new servant seemed like she should be gacha, which was annoying (felt like they only had a new servant bc of no free servant at gudaguda 5)

galatea event: 5/10. it wasnt like anything good or bad? just kinda meh. galatea is fine but i had no interest in rolling for her.

valentines: 5/10. also meh. not really anything of interest. im still peeved that they do that annoying thing w chocolates so i only used lockon chocos this year.

white day: 4.5/10. ces were even worse than last years, and the story was really meh as well. i dont care either way abt no new servant, but im glad they gave the black and red “phantom thief” aes to amakusa, bc it means hopefully if lupin (or anyone else) appears they wont be haha funny reference (unless its to lupin the third bc that would be good)

Spring 2017 Preview

This season is hype. Lots of adaptations I've been waiting for.

1 Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasuka? Isogashii Desuka? Sukuttemoratte Iidesuka?: Surprisingly, out of all the LNs I read in preparation for this season this was far and away my favorite. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's a goddamn mastapeece. I just don't know how they're going to squeeze the whole story into one cours.

2 Sakura Quest: If this show is even half as good as Hanasaku Iroha and Shirobako it's an AOTS candidate. P.A. Works' working women series is one of the best things out there and I hope this show carries the tradition on.

3 Hinako Note: Another early favorite for anime of the season and one glance at the key art should make it obvious why. It's not a Kirara anime but it's definitely got the atmosphere and the cute girls. Plus, it looks like it's going to be lewd, which really puts it over the top.

4 Shingeki no Bahamut VIRGIN SOUL: The first series was one of the best shows of 2014, and Cygames only has more money now. Hopefully it maintains that same fun, Hollywood action-adventure feel of the first series with the new protagonists.

5 Eromanga-Sensei: A good series where I'm not sure who best girl is, but it's definitely not the imouto, which is funny considering this is the new series from the creator of Oreimo. Muramasa is probably my favorite through three volumes of the LN, but Elf-sensei is good too, plus there's some Kido-hyan in here...

6 Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho: Another one I've read the original of. It's pretty good 王道 fantasy, and the second arc is pretty feels inducing. It's a little darker than your average anime fantasy, I think. The main thing, though, is Zero is angel, but I'm still upset she's not being voiced by Ayaneru.

7 Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Gekijou: I quit playing Deresute late last year, but this should still be pretty great. I hope Rinapoyo is in it... SINCE SHE SURE ISN'T IN THE GACHA AS AN SSR

8 Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata♭: I keep forgetting this is airing this season but holy shit am I ready for Kasumigaoka Utaha (and her kuro pansuto) to come back.

9 Busou Shoujo Machiavellism: One of the top candidates for Blade Dance anime, this one with some really good looking character art and animation and an amazing blondenblu voiced by Hidaka Rina.

10 Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Record: Ahh, a good ol' kettou anime. Last couple seasons have kind of lacked a traditional Blade Dance anime but this one definitely checks all the boxes.

11 sin Nanatsu no Taizai: The figures were pretty, uh, nice. I expect there will be too many titties for a lot of people but I've watched all of High School DxD so I'm inoculated against them already. Bring on the big American tts.

12 Ren'ai Boukun: Looks like a solid romantic comedy with some over-the-top characters. Guri is adorable and Hara Yumi plays a chijo.

13 Sword Oratoria: This is a spinoff of Danmachi, the problem is that Aiz Valentine or whatever the fuck her name is (I never did learn how to spell it) was always the most boring character in that show anyway. Forget the spinoff, I want more of Hestia and cute boy Bel.

14 Clockwork Planet: This was the one LN that I wanted to read before the anime aired but didn't have time for. Clockpunk with lolis I guess. The cast is good, including Nanjolno as the male protagonist, so I'm looking forward to it.

15 Granblue Fantasy The Animation: I just started playing Granblue last month so this should be interesting. Cygames has all the money so hopefully they're pumping some of it into A-1 for this show. I just hope Cagliostro shows up.

16 Alice to Zouroku: Loli and curmudgeonly old man is a time-tested formula for HNNNGs, even in 3D, and with the power of 2D it could be even better.

17 Sakurada Reset: Honestly, it seems kind of boring, but Takayama Katsuhiko knows how to write good, feels-driven adaptations so it might be good. From what I understand, the LN it's based on is immensely popular.

18 ID-0: I have no idea what to expect out of this after the most recent trailer. Hopefully it's a cute as one is led to believe.

19 Tsugumomo: Not gonna lie, the only reason I'm even aware of this series is because for years now the artist of the original has posted nude drawings of all the characters on his Pixiv account (they're pretty good). Hopefully that means the actual series is pretty lewd too.

20 Gin no Guardian: Hadn't heard about this until the other day. The trailer makes it look pretty cute, but it's a "trapped in a video game" story and I'm pretty sure the goofy cartoon stuff is only going to be right at the outset. Not a lot of high hopes.

21 Re:CREATORS: They won't let me watch the trailer for this, but it has girls. I guess it's another VRMMORPG anime or something. The staff is pretty high quality, with Aoki Ei both directing and writing, so it could be interesting... But the last thing Aoki Ei and TROYCA worked on was the detestable Aldnoah Zero.

22 Seikai suru Kado: I actually missed this when I was going over next season's anime yesterday, but it sounds like a high concept SF show about a Japanese diplomat slipping into a fantasy world. The premise gives me GATE flashbacks, but surely nothing can be that bad...

23 Frame Arms Girl: I hate the CG, but I'll at least give the first episode a try only because the human protagonist is a girl. Really not sure why they went the Busou Shinki route with this instead of just doing a sci-fi military action show.

24 Tsuki ga Kirei: No idea what this is. The "story" icon on the official website is greyed out which is pretty rare. Art style is kinda weird.

25 Makeruna!! Aku no Gundan!: You really did it Soramaru.

26 Twin Angel Break: I never saw the original Twin Angel shows but it's got Kayanon so count me in. Funnily enough the key visual just reminds me of Flip Flappers now.

27 Idol Time PriPara: Why you do this Takara Tomy. If you fuck this up Amamiya will lay a 10,000 year curse on your families.
