cha’s note: like i said on discord, a door i’m definitely leaving open, because i really enjoy writing with you, and all our dynamics so far, so i’d be 100% comfortable with the idea of shipping too! there are a lot of possibilities for them i think, like one of them (or both) having a crush since childhood/teenage years, that only materialises as adults (yes this is inspired by your lovely answer to that ask); or they could indeed be highschool sweethearts, also a possibility. considring their respective evolutions, their years of friendship, i have a feeling that them evolving from that to something else would be bound to have its challenges for them (fear of a ruined friendship/lsing the other should things go sour, fear of change and novelty, distance if they live apart, etc, to name but a few). again, just some idea if that’s a road we want to take!

cha’s note: i feel like they already have a very solid established canon friendship, and that it doesn’t really include a siblings-type relationship (if anything akiteru has adopted tadashi but that’s it vbjhvbf i think they stand on very equal grounds in their own way, so besides tsukishima taking yamaguchi under his wing when they were kids, i’m not sure how the other options would apply to them)

cha’s note: there again, they’re not really antagonists, but they definitely have potential for conflict as they grow, probably much to everyone’s surprise around them every time vbjfgvb yamaguchi may be a puppy but we know he’s not afraid of butting heads with his best friend to help him and show some tough love when he feels tsukishima is not listening. 

SHIRABU & GOSHIKI

cha’s note: okay these two are clearly a chaotic mess, and you know what, it’s part of their charm. shirabu is one of goshiki’s unfeeling, cold senpai, they butt heads all the time, probably would never have spoken to each other if it weren’t for volleyball. suggestions here include probably their relationship evolving a bit after the interhgh qualifiers, since goshiki was only in his first year, shirabu the new starting setter, so after the 3rd years retire, they no longer have tendou or the others to keep their disagreements in check. but they probably both want what’s best for the team, so perhaps they can learn to stick together, even if their personalities don’t mesh well. goshiki is the new ace after all, he and the setter need to sync up :’) bonus roomates/flatmates possibility for the dorms at the school or after highschool if they go to the same uni.

cha’s note: yes ngl they do kind of give me strong unruly siblings vibes, shirabu being perpetually annoyed by goshiki but still loooooowkey watching out for him (aka the winter camp where he berates him but still pushes him to ask ushijima questions while he still can), goshiki trying to look cool in front of his senpai but failing miserably because...... he’s goshiki. if that doesn’t scream siblings dynamic, i don’t know what does (bonus senpais trying to appease the tensions between them and watching them like “ah yes, the kids are fighting again).
