People need to stop saying Ned without context, because I am getting some very confusing Game of Thrones whiplash

hi rhi! just checking in bc i had an epiphany (maybe??) about oikawa, after thinking about the ned fulmer cheating on his wife thing for arguably longer than i should. hear me out though, because this might get long and ramble-y (and frankly might not even have a point to it </3)
i like to think that ned fulmer liked the idea of a wife much more than he liked ariel. he’d constantly mention her in his videos but only as “my wife”, not “ariel”, despite the fact that everyone knew who ariel was. she was also a public figure and it was no secret who she was married to as well. this isn’t to say ned didn’t love ariel, that’s between them, but i will never not find this “wife life” psychology interesting. i really need to contemplate majoring in some form of human studies at this point.
as for oikawa in near all of your fics with him, it’s pretty easy to say he is infatuated with the idea of a wife too. in some form or another he wants permanence with the reader and his “relationship”, whether that’s marriage or marking her as his in some way, shape, or form. this information isn’t new, of course, but the contrast between oikawa and ned are so unnecessarily interesting to me bc they’re both in love with the idea of a wife- and both only really refer to their relationships as how they are (yes i know thats probably for reader not having a true name in fic sense but i like to think he would still refer to reader as his wife regardless). the only major difference is that oikawa only has eyes for one wife in his fantasy. reader.
it’s obvious to us that oikawa wants a family. wants to “settle down” and whatnot. but because of the parallels between his infatuation with the wife life and reader, reader is unfortunately roped into his obsession, and therefore now the only one oikawa has eyes for.
ned fulmer is (i assume) mentally healthy, unlike oikawa (and every single character in your fics, love it though), and doesn’t become unhealthily obsessed like the way oikawa does. he doesn’t have a true person he admires to associate with his love for the wife life, so the philosophy outweighs the love he has or thinks he has for his family.
oikawa, in that sense, is different. he of course wants a family first, and has always been infatuated with that idea from what i can assume from your writing. but because he falls hard for whatever he may see in reader too, he has a face associated with the wife life. he doesn’t necessarily call reader by name, only whittling her down into being his wife, and in that case objectifying/dehumanizing her, but i feel like we already know he does that based off the fact that he is willing to chain her up and break her legs rather than let her do something that goes against what he wants, aka the perfect wife.
i’m aware this doesn’t have a true point to it that we didn’t already know, but compared to the ned fulmer situation i find it so interesting. ALSO to justify this whole rant being called an epiphany i will say that this was more of an epiphany bc all of this was more subconscious maybe(?? please let me have this its like 4 in the morning and i’m not entirely cohesive, obviously)
anyway, i love your fics rhi, and i’ve been binging any and all oikawa fics despite the fact that i can hardly recall the titles (IM SORRY) to bring in specific instances </3
- ps idk if the emoji anon thing is still a thing but i’d love to stake my claim on 💍 or 🧣 anon if they’re available </3
okay, so i can't really talk about the whole ned fulmer thing because tbh i had no idea who the man was or what the hell the try guys were until suddenly everyone was talking about it. at one point i genuinely thought people were trying to gaslight me into believing that everyone knew because... sounded fake, but okay ghfjdkjhgfjdk
what i will say is that for some of the characters i write, marriage is meaningless. some would entertain if it was something the reader wanted (which, again considering 95% of my readers are firmly in the 'i hate you' camp.... doubtful), but you're just as much theirs with or without some stupid piece of paper saying so. and i would probably say the same thing in regards to wanting kids, for every character who wants to breed like bunnies, there's another who has zero desire in sharing the reader with little snot nosed gremlins any time soon.
oikawa sees marriage and motherhood as ties more than anything else. he (in the fics he's married ofc) continually calls attention to that bond to remind her that she's stuck with him. bound to him. it's a reminder that he won, she's not getting away, and he wants that reminder to sink in deep. she's his. it's both a victory flag and a blow to the reader's defiance in one. a term of 'endearment'.
which isn't to say that he doesn't want a family, he absolutely does, but he also loves coming out on top. it's not so much that he wants the reader because he wants a wife/mother to his kids, more that because he's obsessively gone off the deep end with the reader, he wants everything with her.

All the sources I've seen just say he cheated which is shit but I guess I'm missing something worse. As an RT fan, where would you say it falls on the scale of "Geoff having an open marriage and hooking up with another adult from a dating app with full knowledge & consent of his wife", to "Ryan groomed and abused countless vulnerable young women"? With whatever the fuck Adam was doing somewhere in the upper middle of the bad end.
christ, this question is loaded
i'm gonna speak as a try guys fan first since, y'know, that's what this whole situation is about. for anyone looking at the tags who don't know who the try guys or ned fulmer specifically are, he, zach kornfeld, eugene lee yang, and keith habersberger were a group of friends who left buzzfeed in late 2019 to create their own independent company. this is important to note because with all 4 of them being founders, that automatically gives them power over the employees in smaller positions.
i'm of the opinion that cheating is bad no matter what because it's an active decision done by the person/people doing the cheating. it's so fucking easy to just... Not cheat on your partner(s), so i believe anyone who decides to do so is a self-centered asshole, to say the least. in this situation, ned is in an objectively worse position because not only did he cheat on his wife ariel, he cheated on her with someone he employed (alex herring).
now speaking as an rt fan, i feel that comparing the situations between ned and ryan (i'm not touching everything with geoff and adam again because that's more or less resolved) is appropriate to a very specific extent. i covered most of that extent half-jokingly in this post i made hours before ned got kicked out of the group. along with both men's cringy-ass notes app "apologies", i think as of right now, that's where the comparisons between the two should end.
basically, ryan's ordeal is SO much worse, without a fucking doubt, no arguments about it. with that in mind, i still think the both of them are shitty, self-centered human beings, but ned is the """""better""""" of the two. not by a lot, but... You Know. as for the other guys you've mentioned, it's up to you to form your own perspective based on the facts and opinions i have shared here. there's no point for me to do that for you because i can't and shouldn't dictate how others should feel about all of these situations. that'd be fucking stupid. i'm not putting what ned has done on a full scale because, at least how i see it, it should be, first and foremost, seen as its own thing before being compared to other similar controversies of varying degrees.

A Summer to Remember Ch4
CW: internalized homophobia
the f slur and queer used as a slur
[Ned Pov]
My eyes fluttered open to the sound of birds early in the morning. It was still dark outside. I looked down at Maude who was spooned into my arms. I recalled the conversation we had last night. As much as I wanted to hide from it, it was clear that I was homosexual. . .a queer. The word queer made me wince for some reason. I was gay, I was a gay man. It made too much sense. I bit my lip suddenly remembering something that happened in my youth. I remembered being in a group of.  . . secular non-Christian people. It was the early 70s and no one knew where I was. They didn't have to know. It was simple teen curiosity; there was a desire to explore the world that was kept away from me. Again, I always had an innate curiosity to understand. It's impossible for a person to be perfectly free from sin. It was only human nature to have sinful tendencies. What I'm trying to say is I tried marijuana. It wasn't that bad. I actually felt less stressed than I  usually was but let's not focus on that. There was this boy. This boy who was good with the guitar. He had long hair and wore blush from time to time. He called himself bisexual. I remembered how comfortable I had gotten with him one afternoon where we all were hanging out by a river. I remember the smoke and the lesbians who had made love in the shallow water. There were s'mores and homemade tea. By all logic I should have felt scared I was there; I wasn't.
I got up close to him by my own will, I remember. He asked me if I had ever kissed a boy before. I hadn't. He asked if I wanted to. Despite the quiet guilt in my soul I nodded. We kissed and kissed again and again until I got a hang of the rhythm. I liked it. The more I reflected on the memory, I remembered how much I enjoyed it. I stared at the window thinking while watching the warm glow of sunrise touch the curtains. I really am gay aren't I?
I looked down when I felt Maude move and wake up. She stretched her arms and legs and blinked awake. She smiled at me, "Good morning."
          "Mornin."
She pressed a small kiss on my cheek and sat up.
"You don't have to do that kind of stuff to me if you're not comfortable."
"Hm? Oh. .I'm sorry it just felt natural I don't know. Are you uncomfortable?"
"No, not at all. . .shouldn't I be uncomfortable?"She shrugged. "It doesn't mean anything inherently romantic to me. . .does that sound silly?"
I shook my head, "I don't think so. .but I get what you mean."
She rubbed her eyes and played with her hair.
"So. . when you said you where gay last night do you mean. .?"
         "That I'm a. . . lesbian? Yeah, yeah I think I'm a lesbian. Sounds right."
  "That's just lovely Maude."
She frowned, "Is it? I. .thought it wasn't right to be. .-"
I laid there thinking for a minute, "Is it really wrong?"
        "I'm not sure. . "
"It's just love. I can't see what's so wrong about it. . . Maude I. .I kissed a boy when I was younger." Why did I suddenly feel ashamed? It was just a kiss. Imagine what my uncle would say. He'd probably call me a f*gg*t or something. What would Reverend Lovejoy say? I suddenly felt sick to my stomach.
"Oh? Hm. . . was it nice?"
"Yeah. ." I stared at the wall again.
"Are you going to tell them?"
"Me?"
    She nodded.
"I'm not sure. You?"
        "I'm too scared."
"I understand." I pet her upper back to comfort her.
[Maude pov]
After breakfast we followed Tim and Helen led us to the Rock climbing area. There was this gigantic wall in front of us. It had multicolored rubber rocks that I adored. It wasn't my first rodeo with rock climbing. I had climbed with Ned plenty of times. I smiled up at them with anticipation. I had on some white tee from a church event and
jean shorts that reached my knees.
"Now this exercise is supposed to encourage teamwork and support in each other. When this world brings you down you need to have someone to encourage you." Helen explained as Timothy put on a harness. Helen looked at me puzzled as I put on one myself.
"What? It's not on backwards is it?"
"Oh, no it's just that. . ." She trailed off looking at my harness. She bit her lip lightly for a second before her concentration quickly returned. "Well I was going to have Ned climbing the wall but that's fine that works. . .Maude, are you sure you can?"
"I've done this many times." I smiled and laughed.
"Oh. Okay." She said a bit surprised.
Was it just me or did she blush? Was she checking me out. . .? No, no it had to be my imagination. I dismissed any other possibility of why she looked at me like that.
Once me and Tim were set up we started our climb. I made a speedy start grabbing onto each rock I saw available. It was fairly easy. I made a mental note of the colors. I loved them. Red pink yellow pink orange red blue green red turquoise. I focused on the rocks and moving.
"You got this Maude!" Ned cheered. I smiled and kept on climbing. I glanced over at Timothy who was only a couple feet from the ground. It seemed I had more upper arm strength than him. I wouldn't have guessed.
"I believe in you Timothy! You're doing great. One at a time." Helen cheered, encouraging him. God bless her, she's so sweet. He nodded and slowly found himself a bit higher. At some point I got stuck.
"Go left, use your legs!" Ned coached. I nodded and did as he advised. Tim had caught up with me before I made my way ahead of him again. Before I knew it I was at the very top.
I sat on the wall and smiled as Ned clapped for me. Helen was clapping too. So cute of her. I stared out at the trees and the shimmering lake as Tim was making the rest of his way up. Do I like Helen? I asked myself. Of course I did, she's been my best friend for years. But, Ned was also mine for longer. Yet, something in her sparkled that hadn't in Ned. Every time I had saw her, things we're better. I felt . .giddy. Oh. . .oh. I do love her. I love her more than anything. My chest had ached. Oh God, I love her.
"I'm so proud of you!" I looked down at Helen who was cheering at her husband who loved her too. She loved him. She loves him, not me. She's straight, I think. It didn't matter anyways. I sighed. Still I couldn't help but smile. I was in love and couldn't do anything about it. I wonder how Ned was coping with this yearning. I then faced the wall and quickly leaped my way down. With gravity and my emotions taking over me I couldn't help but laugh. I landed on the ground giggling. "That was fun." I snorted and covered my mouth blushing. But then she laughed too. "Oh Maude, that's adorable." She put an arm around my shoulder. Oh God I could kiss her right now. She's so close yet so far from reach. So I just stood there blushing and smiling. Tim slowly but surely came down with a bit of a dizzy stumble. Ned was close and caught him. For a moment the two men were arm in arm. Tim smiled bashfully and a tad embarrassed.
       "Thanks."
Ned stared at him a moment before helping him stand-up straight. "You did great, Reverend." Neddy said smiling. The poor thing. He must feel the same ache in his soul. He has to.
[Ned pov]
Later that day I found Timothy by the river. He was just sitting there watching it flow. I had to ask. I needed to know what he thought on the matter. Despite everything, I felt in my soul it was right and only natural. But I just needed to know. You always need to know, it'll be death of you, Ned. I sighed and walked up to him before sitting by him on the grass by the sore. "Hi Reverend."
"Ned, we're friends, you can just call me Timothy. Really I insist."
"Of course. Timothy," his name was so intense. Calling him by his name was so tender and intimate it almost felt wrong. "I wanted to talk to you about something. Well, I at least wanted to hear your thoughts on the matter."
"What is it?" He looked at me slightly exhausted. I felt a pang of guilt. He probably wanted a break from being asked things everyday. It had to be exhausting. But I needed to know. I knew it was important.
"What do you think about homosexuality?"
"Hmm. . ." He hummed and looked out on the lake. "Sexual deviance isn't a good thing."
"Deviance?" I felt a bit hurt. Was it really cheating if my wife knew how I felt. I mean, it would be if I kissed a married man. I wanted to kiss a married man. Am I lusting? Is this sin? The homosexuality couldn't be though. "Is it really deviance??"
Tim paused to think again. "Well. Hm. There are some verses-"
"I know, I've heard about them. But I don't think they're talking about homosexuality. It could be just an error. It could be referring to a completely different sin. But if you don't mind my boldness Reverend, I really don't think it's a sin at all."
     He nodded slowly, pensive.
"There are verses that have forbidden the consumption of some meats that were unsafe at the time. . .hmm. That's not a sin at all anymore. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. Prophets are still human after all." He stared at the water. "I suppose homosexuality isn't so bad. Why, it's not bad at all. I mean everyone feels sexuality . . .right?" He looked a bit confused. I wasn't sure why. Was he gay? No. . . was he?
          "I believe so."
He stared at the water thinking, I assume. I looked at those hands that tempted me. Guilt was burning me alive.
      "Timothy I've been sinning!"
He looked at me startled at my outburst.
"Ned. . Ned, why are you asking me about this? Is. .this why you and Maude are having issues? Are you gay?"
I froze.
"Ned you said it yourself and I agree, I don't think homosexuality is a legit sin."
"No. I mean, no that's not the issue." I felt my eyes water.
"Ned. ."
"I've been lusting after a married man! That's a sin!"
"Ned. . .are you talking about me? Do you like me that way?" His eyes were wide.
"I do." I started to cry.
"Why are you crying?"
I looked at him like he was absurd.
       "It's lusting!"
"Eh, well. You're not acting on it. I'm sure the Lord understands your intentions and will forgive them."
     I shrugged, "I understand if you're uncomfortable. ."
"Not really. Don't worry about it."
"I just don't want to ruin anything."
          "I understand."
"How long have you felt like this?"
                   "I . .I don't know. Maybe I was born like this."
      "Born??" He looked confused.
"Well not literally. I mean. I've just always liked men." I rubbed my arm anxiously. I was still trying to make peace with myself.
Timothy stared at the ground, his eyes furrowed.
 "Like them?"
"Yeah. Like I've just always wanted to.  . .kiss them and stuff. You know?"
He slowly shook his head looking a bit lost.
   "I don't understand."
I suddenly felt sick. Did he think my attraction was that weird?
"It's just the same feeling that you get  with women."
He fiddled with his hands. He looked really uncomfortable.
    "What's wrong? Is it me?"
"No it's not you.  You're fine Ned I promise. I'm glad you decided to come to me about this." He closed his eyes and bit at his finger gingerly. I had seen him do this a couple times. It was usually when he got stressed or something. "Does Maude know?"
"Yeah. She took it well."
"Good." He stood up and walked off.

Knock Before Entering
If Chase had simply knocked before he went in that room, there would be nowhere near as much awkward tension right now between the three of them.
But alas, he hadn't knocked and they were all in an uncomfortable position.
Let's set the scene: Just an hour ago, Michael and Willow had made their marriage official. In Wiley's playroom they were supposed to be painting stars on the ceiling in so their son could have stars to see when he was an astronaut. He was going to be one when he grew up and so they had begun painting them when the annulment papers had came in.
Instead of annulling their marriage, however, they'd finally said everything they felt about each other to each other- and acted on it. Several times.
They'd decided to go again and were making out like fifteen year olds when Chase barged into the room.
The mood had never been killed quicker.
Glaring at Chase, Michael and Willow threw on their shirts and tried to look somewhat presentable as Chase was standing there awkwardly, looking at everything but the sight in front of him. Willow blushes a deep red color, more embarrassed than upset. For her especially, this is an awkward situation.
When everyone's fully dressed, she excuses herself to go find Wiley. As she leaves, Michael's glare returns, as well as his bulging neck veins. "You wanna explain what you're doing here right now?"
"Brook Lynn and I made a deal where if she and Ned talked, I'd talk to Willow," Chase explains, clearly digging himself deeper and deeper into the hole he's created.
"Why are you and Brook Lynn making deals? And what do you have to say to Willow?" Michael asks.
"We're friends. For God's sakes, she's living on my couch! So, since we both have things we don't want to do but should, we made this deal. She tries to work things out with her dad and I tell her how I feel."
Confused, Michael asks, "What do you feel for my cousin that involves Willow?"
"No, not Brook Lynn. She's great, and very interesting, but I don't feel that way about her. We're just friends, nothing more. The deal was I tell Willow what I feel for her. Willow, she told me you two were getting an annulment so I thought it was my final chance to tell her how I feel about her."
Taking a deep breath, Michael asks, "And what do you feel for my wife, Chase? Please, tell me. I'm dying to know. I'm dying to know how you feel about her."
Chase can sense the anger in his tone as he says, "I love her. I-I know what you two-"
"You cheated on her with Sasha. The two of you broke our hearts when you did that, and I don't think you can say you love her if you can have an affair. I get that your conscience might not have let you date Sasha afterwards, but you still managed to cheat on her while you were supposedly in love with her. It's been months Chase, months since the affair," Michael reminds him. "So don't tell me you love her when you broke her heart and didn't care about that. Don't you dare do that."
"I didn't have an affair with Sasha! We faked it for the custody case, so you two would get married and keep Wiley safe from Janelle and her manipulations," Chase exclaims loudly.
Suddenly, everything comes to a halting stop. How loud was he, could Willow hear? Could Brook Lynn hear? What had he just said? The affair was fake?
Willow walks back into the room, confused. "What did you just say?"
"Willow, I love you. Sasha and I never cheated on you and Michael, we made up the affair because you two needed to get married for Wiley's sake. Now that you're getting annulled, I thought this would be my last chance to tell you that I love you and I don't know if I'll ever stop loving you. I need you to know that I still love you." The look on Chase's face is one of anxiety, but it's obvious he's telling the truth.
"You two were making out on a couch! That's still cheating, you just didn't have sex. Do you want an award? Some applause? Chase, you broke my heart. You broke Michael's heart. I've moved on and I don't love you anymore. It's best you move on too," Willow explains to him.
Brook Lynn opens the door, seeing the three of them in an awkward conversation. "We heard yelling from Chase and it was decided I'd be the best to come up here and figure out what's happening."
Angry, hurt, and annoyed, Chase kisses the Quartermaine girl intensely. Is he using her? Only slightly. The kiss feels right though, and so they pull away moments later breathless. Neither were expecting that to be... That. For a first kiss, it was a solid 10/10.
Anger fuels through Michael as his cousin actually kisses him back. "What the fuck are you two doing? Chase, you love Willow but somehow you're making out with her? You can't make a decision for the life of yourself. When you chose to play god with all of our lives, you knew what you were doing. And now you don't want to deal with the consequences of your own actions."
"Michael! I'm an adult, I can take care of myself. Look, I'm fine, alright? That was the first time him and I did that," Brook Lynn reassures him and his breathing calms slightly.
There's a pause before Michael's anger at Chase continues to spew, uncontrollable. "I can't believe you! Saying you're in love with my wife one minute and the next you're making out with my cousin. Brook Lynn, I trust you can take care of yourself, and I trust you told the truth. But Chase, how can you do that? How can you break someone's heart and then say, months later, that you love her? Tell me, please. I'm begging to know. Maybe I can break someone's heart who doesn't deserve it like you did!'"
"Look, let's all take a deep breath before we do anything we're going to regret," Willow suggests, bringing Michael back to reality: they're still in the playroom, trying to solve a problem. With annulment papers conveniently somewhere around here if they so choose to get them and sign.
After that momentarily breather for everyone, Chase says, "I do love Willow, and I think you might love Sasha still, Michael. Things could go-"
As he says that, Michael can't hold back and, neck veins bulging, punches Chase. It's a good punch, one Jason taught him to throw years ago. There are perks to having your mother's best friend being a hitman and your father being in the mob, and one is punching lessons. Well, really more self defense lessons, but still. It's a perk to growing up in dysfunction.
Chase and him fist fight for several minutes to the protests of Willow and Brook Lynn, who both were trying to stop it. But alas, nothing can stop two angry men from fist fighting each other like 12 year olds over an XBOX.
They finally stop the fight, both having taken good punches and thrown good ones. Fury burns in Chase's eyes as shame fills Michael. He let his temper get the best of him and this happened. "Look man, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have thrown that punch and started that-"
The detective throws another punch, this time leaving a bloody lip. "Damn right you shouldn't have. But now, you're going to be arrested for assault."
"You do not want to arrest him. Arrest me," Brook Lynn suggests.
"As much as I'd like to, Brook Lynn, you don't have any grounds for arrest at the moment and he does," Chase reminds her.
"Chase, please don't do this. At the very least, let me take care of his bloody lip," Willow begs and Dante walks into the room.
Whistling, Dante says, "What the fuck happened in here? It smells like sex and Michael's got a bloody lip and Chase has what looks like a bruised forehead. Is this some weird sex thing I don't know about because if so I feel like it's illegal."
"Do not start that conversation or there will be more blood," Brook Lynn warns him. "But currently all I know is Chase told Willow how he feels and Michael punched him when he said that she still loved him and he still loved Sasha. But I'm guessing that the sex thing came from Michael and Willow, so I'm pretty sure that's actually encouraged in most religions. Also Chase made out with me."
"How much did I miss? But Detective, arresting him is a shoddy at best move. Trust me, I was with the police department for a while." Dante chuckles.
"Thank you for your input Dante, but I'm going to go and bring Michael to the station," Chase says before reciting the Miranda rights to him. "If you don't want him to be in jail tonight, I suggest you go to the police station."
"I feel like this is harassment and that that's how the commissioner will see this as well," Dante informs him.
But the protests of his family don't have any meaning as Chase handcuffs him and he's dragged out to the police car, absolutely silent while everyone sees him being arrested by his former best friend.
An hour later, Diane's there and clearly displeased with him. "Michael. I would expect this behavior from, say, Jason or Carly. They've actually both been in a situation like this at one point. Irony's a beautiful thing. That's not the point. You are supposed to be the good one! Not the one fist fighting people with no real reason except you're mad they're in love with your wife!"
"I know, I know. I overreacted to it and I'm sorry for that and I let my anger get the best of me which I shouldn't have and I feel like hell but it was so great finally punching him. But, in my defense, he also said false things that we'd already said we're false and made out with Brook Lynn after insisting they were just friends. And he gave me a bloody lip, so I'd say we're even," Michael struggles to defend himself. "Is it still bloody?"
"Yes, it's still bleeding. Carly, Sonny, and Jason have been made aware you're here, and I'm sure that you and Chase have very different sides to the story but, provided he drops the charges, you'll be let free. If he doesn't, someone will need to post bail money for you and this petty case will be taken to court."
Chase walks back into the interrogation room. "Michael, I think we can make an agreement. I'll drop the charges if you and Willow get annulled."
Diane steps in, chuckling. "This form of agreement seems harassing, as does the proposition in question. Detective, I understand you decided to arrest him on the grounds of assault but a jury or the commissioner will just see this as you harassing my client. Additionally, the annulment papers were received by them today."
"Diane, we're not getting annulled. We, uh, we decided we're staying together. Chase, he walked in when we were making out and then told us he'd lied about the affair and that he still loves Willow and so Brook Lynn came upstairs to figure out what was happening and he made out with her and I asked him how he could do that and he insinuated several things about my love life so I punched him, not hard, and he fought back so we had a minor fist fight and then I apologized for throwing the first punch because that wasn't smart or productive and he gave me a cat lip," Michael explains.
"Detective, I strongly advise you stop harassing Mr. Corinthos here because that's what it looks like to me. Willow can make her own decisions, that's her choice who she wants to be with. She is not to be sold as property."
Chase, exhaling, says, "You're right. I shouldn't have arrested him in the first place, and I'll drop the charges, but someone does still need to bail him out."
"What is bail set at?" Diane asks, smiling.
"$500. I'll alert his family, which is loudly congregated out there," Chase says, standing up from the table.
"Thank you," Michael smiles.
As Chase leaves, Diane's smirk widens. "What's this I hear about no annulment? Did your grounds for it become, how shall I say this, void?"
"Well, the Quartermaine's already know, why not you. Yes, we did decide not to get annulled. It isn't something either of us want, so sorry for wasting your time."
"It's your private life so I'm not going to dig into it, Michael, but for what it's worth, I wish you and Willow the best on your marriage. Trust me, she's probably the only woman who both of your families will agree is good for you and who can deal with the chaos that is your life."
"Thanks, I think," Michael chuckles as she leaves and he finds out his bail has been posted and gets uncuffed.
He walks out of the room, embarrassed but fine minus the bloody lip, and sees that there's a good fifteen people out there for him; Carly, who's pacing and talking to Jason very loudly, Jason, who's remind her they're at a police station, Willow, who's trying to just ignore the situation, Brook Lynn, who's harassing Chase about how he acted, Dante, who's smirking about everything that's happened, Wiley, who clearly isn't comfortable with this situation, Sonny, who's just scrolling through his phone, Diane, who's discussing something with a disinterested Sonny. Dysfunction at it's finest.
Willow looks up and sees he's there and runs up to hug her husband. "You're okay? Your lip's not bleeding, but are you sure you're okay and we don't need to go to the hospital right now to get you checked out?"
Chuckling, Michael says, "Willow. Look at me. I am fine. Trust me, I've been through worse than my busted lip and soreness. You have absolutely no reason to worry."
"You were arrested! For punching him over me! I feel like there was plenty of reason for me to worry and be upset," she smiles.
"Well, I promise you, I am fine and don't need to go to the hospital. Your overreaction is, though adorable, unnecessary right now. I'm fine, Wiley's fine, you're fine, and that's all that matters," Michael assures her.
Smiling, she quickly kisses him which is convenient seen by everyone there. "Promise on your life?"
"That's a bit extreme."
"Then you're going to the hospital," she declares as Carly and the adults are laughing. "What's so funny?"
"How casually you two just kissed. Yesterday, you were getting an annulment and today there's this. We clearly need to be caught up on what happened. Besides, your concern is just so much like a wife, you two really are married now," Carly laughs.
"I'm still making him get checked out at the hospital. Would any of you like to join me?" Willow asks, earning another chuckle from them.
"Sure, why not?" Dante chuckles as the rest of them minus Brook Lynn agree to join; she's doing a thing she does where she just stares blankly while you talk so you can't see her emotion with Chase.
"You are way too worried about me," Michael protests.
"You wouldn't swear on your life."
"You're lucky you're my wife."
"I am," she agrees as they walk out, him kissing her forehead. "And you're lucky I'm your wife."
"That I most certainly am."
