#i feel like frank and hazel couldve been best friends

ive been thinking about boo a lot lately, but i think maybe jason should've been on laos with hazel + frank + leo, when leo met apollo. bcuz

it introduces Jason with apollo ahead of toa... this is also right before Jason meets his dad for the first time and apollo gets sent away. anyway

since it WAS storm or fire plus they're best friends, then Jason should've at least had more clue of the plan. maybe not all the details, but just enough for Jason to have some thinking on it and maybe put it together. also Leo tells Frank + Hazel because they're roman which Jason is too. but also i don't think Frank n Hazel should even agree to Leo's plan in the first place as they did in canon, so at least with Jason there, Leo would give a shorter explanation without mentioning his self-sacrificing part... would be a more believable plan

when Hazel makes the fake i think either of these should happen: A) leo and jason disagree and then they pick randomly and leave it to fate. fates a pretty big thing with them. this is just funny to me. if leo dies from the fake, then jason is there clutching the real one while knowing he couldve prevented the death 😊 works well if Jason keeps it during toa and explicitly makes the decision NOT to use the cure. if Leo gets the real cure than boo proceeds as usual but jason now wonders who actually had the real or not. B) one of them (let's say leo) purposely takes the fake and Jason protests, but relents quickly. but later at the last moment, Jason would switch the fake with the real vial to ensure his friend's safety

it would probably click afterward at um asclepius' for Jason that Leo has plans to sacrifice. he'd probably be more suspicious at this point and gather his own ideas for handling the prophecy

anyway i was thinking abt why i would do these changes and it's cuz it feels better for their characters. while Leo wasn't sure if his plan would work, him willingly taking the fake certainly show his more selfless nature that he's shown prior to hoh. and then literally in no world would Jason let ANY of his friends do that (see TOA where he takes on Piper's risk of death instead) and ending the series after books of talking about Jason's hero-ness and his leader role with something like this will definitely be more meaningful
