i rlly have just about had it with self-proclaimed leftists (whose leftism is often exclusively about posting whatever opinions they were told to hold by other ppl in their online spaces) foaming at the mouth to support reactionary initiatives because it suits their specific distastes (tiktok, AI, kink at pride, etc), then being shocked + appalled when the underlying reactionary logics of those initiatives manifest in harm + do not stop at just getting rid of the Thing They Don't Like
i'm not being dramatic when i say that, as a leftist, you need to find a developed + foundational set of beliefs as to what it means to be a leftist. not just a cluster of opinions that could be crammed in a dni but a reason why those opinions are coherent with your underlying values. new issues are always going to arise that your dogpiling meanhearted mutuals haven't thought through yet + as leftists we have to parse those through a radical politic, not just run with our gut or follow the liberal zeitgeist as if leftism is just "liberalism with tweaks".
