ok what gortash did to karlach is terrible but i think way too many people forget that she clearly states she used to care VERY deeply for gortash and knew much of what he was up to (not everything, like the banite thing) because she was the one protecting him from people trying to kill him for the shit he was involved in like....

obvs karlach is a good woman for the most part and got screwed over royally but i think waaaay too many people ignore that fact. that she knew gortash wasnt a good person but cared deeply for him anyways and thats a huge reason she was so hurt by what he did, not only because of avernus being so awful but also because of who it was who sold her to zariel.

its rly interesting dynamic that ppl tend to ignore (esp paired with how he basically defends himself by saying it was to make her 'stronger' and stuff, which when you later learn gortashes backstory.......almost makes you wonder if he wasnt actually talking out of his ass)
