you'd think it'd be easier to figure this out but most of what i'm getting is like "go to the catalog portal and add data from your organization or the web!" like yeah if i wanted random california wildfire data from 2016 that might help BUT THE DATA I NEED TO MAP DOESNT EXIST ONLINE BECAUSE IT'S MINE, NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S

fully aware i am probably just blatantly missing some tutorial that does tell me exactly that but i haven't found it yet lol

stumbling my way through arcgis pro by googling the absolute most basic questions like "how do i add a new layer"

#then it’s also like 'well you can add data from a folder on your computer!'#like ok that's nice. what format does the data in the folder need to be in?#like if it needs fo be a .txt or a .xml file thats fineeeee just Tell Me That #sadly i only sort of remember this from my qgis class 2 years ago #and this is arcpro so.
