Different malware/viruses affect him differently. Some can cause cold symptoms, other flu, some mono, etc. Some just simply make him itchy and sneeze and he absolutely HATES IT BC THOSE ARE THE EASIEST TO CATCH

He doesn't have a nose/sinuses so it's just this all-encompassing sensation stuck in his head and he can rarely ever sneeze once and be done with it because it's just THAT intense of a feeling. He's at least gotta get two out before feeling any sort of relief.

Electronics and rain/water do not mix, if he's ever caught out in a storm he shortcircuits, which lowers his immune system (?) and makes him prone to catching a cold

His air filtration system for overheating is essential but if something gets in there and mucks it up, he's done

Allergies: dust (oh man do you know how much dust my pc tower collects? this is prime pickings my dudes), cats/animal fur (the hair gets trapped in his vents and it's game over for him)

When he first manifested, he didn't know that he could even sneeze in his new form until he came into contact with an allergen, which was a Disastorous event and memory he'd like to forget

Can lose control of his electro-teleporting abilities, especially if the sneezes sneak up on him or during extended fits

His sneezes have an effect on electronics and electronically-powered things - from lights flickering out to complete building power outages

Val and Vel have a nickname for him "Sparky" (that he hates ofc) because he has the tendency to give off sparks during particularly intense fits

Definitely one of those workaholic CEO types that would try to ignore/work through the beginnings of illness until the point of collapse

Building off the last HC, he would also be one to squirrel away in his office and avoid interacting with anyone when he's ill, probably the only time he's away from the multitude of screens

Downright terrible patient - will be in denial for as long as he can get away with it and hates being coddled when he's found out

I also LOVE the idea that Alastor is able to set him off with radio wave manipulation

ik you've seen me ramble abt twewy all the time but I also love pokémon, kirby, legend of zelda, detroit become human and golden sun !!! my brother has also been playing Hades lately and tho the playstyle isn't my thing bc I get stressed easily IT'S AN AMAZING GAME AND I LOVE IT

THIRD TIMES THE CHARM AMIRITE??? I've worked on several books at once but am trying to pick a single one to be more productive. My question is, should I worry about how big/complex the book is? Will agents feel like such a book is too risky for a debut? For example, sab is def not as "big" as soc, trc is bigger than previous books by the author, and from what you've posted sd is grander than sd+h

2/2 the cleric book. I’m not saying one book is lesser than the other, only not as grand, you know? (there are more examples of authors who didn’t publish “bigger” books until later in their career but I’m drawing a blank!) Is this something I should take into consideration? I know the general advice is write for yourself first! But all of my books are for me first, it’s only that some of them might be….less of a risk for a debut? thanks for taking time to answer this, I hope I’m making sense!

ok this question has many layers. So to start i’ll point out that 6oC came after an entire trilogy, TRC came after…. like 6 books from Stiefvater, etc. Your writing skills progress in complexity as you…. write. There’s a natural order to things. 

at the state my own books are currently at SD+H is far more emotionally deft than SD (if I rewrite SD would that flip? probably, but I had to write SD+H and 12 thousand unfinished drafts in the meantime to get there).

So thinking in terms of complicated/not complicated might not be the proper way to approach this. Because when I started SD+H my thought process was: literally whatever weird thing happens I will let happen no matter how bizarre it gets. Now I have a… weird, convoluted, and highly complicated book because of that (oh, god, SD+H is way more complicated, plot-wise, than SD ever was. Like, SD as a sprawling saga is more complex, maybe, just because of its scale but a book by book basis? oh no. no friends. SD+H is not a simple book. You guys have just seen way less of it because I became more focused on making it publishable when i was writing it.) 

Sometimes it is a case of the author holding a story back until the time was right to write it (i.e. TRC), sometimes the natural progression and drive to better ones writing leads to… well, better, vaster books later. 

What I’m trying to say is, don’t worry about this. Don’t play it safe because safe isn’t going to get you noticed but be… aware of what’s appearing in the market and what’s not. At the heart of it, yes, you have to write for yourself but I think getting into the mindset of ‘oh this is too weird/complicated no one will want to take a chance on it’ is the wrong mindset. Can you write something that’s too weird to get noticed? Absolutely, but it’s better to risk that than play it safe.

I mean, SD didn’t go anywhere because it was…. bad. It was a juvenile draft that I was too emotionally close to because I’d worked on it for a third of my life. The bones of that story are good but I need distance and many other books before I’m ready to go back, I think. I wouldn’t call it any grander than SD+H, honestly, it’s just far more twisted. 

BUT ANYWAY my advice to you is don’t get caught up in the worry about playing it safe. The worst that can happen if you write a book and querying it goes nowhere is….. you wrote a book and querying it went nowhere. Then you write something else and try again. Deciding what you should focus on really should, at this point, be based on what do you want to finish? what do you want to revise 7 times and write a query letter for? what’s the project that you think the most about? write that one. focus on that one. and if it doesn’t work? it doesn’t work and you set it aside and say ‘ok maybe one day, let’s try something else now.’

50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.

For some reason, my brain read this as 'read' instead of 'had', so here's my answer for fics and fic ideas I've seen out there first, then I'll get to my own ideas xD

My immediate thought was about the sex lives of various innanimate objects that I would have never even considered to write about in any way ever but um the Internet can be a very strange place xD

Apart from that? Probably the story where Hogwarts has access to a spaceship. And like, what's even weirder is that the story makes complete sense in itself??

For my own story ideas: idk about weird?? The thing is that all my story ideas start out fairly tame and canon compliant-ish and then get longer and longer and AU-er and crossoverisher the longer I let them simmer instead of actually writing anything, and my headcanon crossover multiverse is probably a very strange place for anyone but me, but I couldn't pinpoint any particular weird parts of it, really?

Weirdest one-shot ideas: idk, does Crowley (good omens) pole dancing count as weird? Writing for poolnoodel-level rarepairs of one-episode minor characters in crime shows? Making a character in PotC that I don't even remember the canon name of anymore genderbent to have a lesbian couple? Idk! Somebody tell me what my weirdest fics are? XD

I mean, I probably also had a bunch of weird fic ideas that got discarded because of that, but then my memory is too bad to remember those, hell I had to look at my ao3 fandom list to even remember the above!

Wait, there are some fucked up TOG ideas that haven't made it out of the draft stages (yet), namely one that I tend to call the Andronilynh pain sex fever dream (and have in fact already shared the WIP of on the discord), where mortal!Andy gets injured and ends up with a prosthetic arm or leg, but in the end she regains her immortality and the prosthetic falls off because the limb grows back, but slowly and painfully and basically Nile and Quynh fuck her through it to ease the pain... and another one about trans woman!Andy being unable to transition because of the immortality, with dysphoria and blood gore body horror and maybe a (happy?!) ending of cutting herself in half and operating on the bottom half before piecing herself together again to trick her body into thinking it's correct that way... Not being a trans woman myself idk whether to write that, I mean it was just a plot bunny and while I don't read gore, when for once I have a gory fic idea I do tend to write it because like. It can't fucking terrify me anymore than it already does in my mind?? But again not a trans woman and while fic is not mainstream media and doesn't have to worry about representation and shit as much, and I'd never tell anyone not to write a fic about something themselves when they have an idea for a story just because it's not their own experience... I still feel kinda weird about it but I Def wouldn't want to ask a trans woman about it and force her to think about my potentially triggering fic idea?? Then I'd rather just write it and tag appropriately... We'll see.

52. How did writing change you?

I'm not sure whether writing itself changed me very much? Or rather, I've been coming up with stories and also writing them down since such a young age that it's hard to tell whether any changes are from writing in particular.

Posting fic changed me in being less of a perfectionist even in what I share publicly, in being kinder both to myself and to others about what we create, and to really understand that being nice goes a long way and one thoughtless comment can ruin someone's day, and to try to never be that person.
