#ian works as an emt and they all live happily ever after

Ok but I’m an absolute slut for outside POVs and I’ve been having fever dreams about this fic where I imagine Ian working as an EMT again (for important reasons obviously) and they’re married and there’s a new trainee (let’s call him Jake) who starts working there.

And Sue is there too (also for important reasons) and she and Ian are training Jake together and Jake obviously develops a super giant crush on Ian because like who wouldn’t?

And Jake listens to Ian talk about his family and how many people are apparently in and out of his house (“so then the pipe explodes and Mickey and Franny are SOAKED and then Lip came running in and slipped on the water and yeah it was a fucking shit show I’ve never laughed so hard”)

Anyway it’s hard for Jake to keep all the names together but he thinks he has several brothers (he’s heard Mickey, Ian, Lip, and maybe one other?)

Also Ian isn’t wearing his ring because I looked it up and that’s totally a thing that EMTs do because they get caught on shit (and this is important to the story so LISTEN UP)

So it’s been a week of training and becoming infatuated with Ian and he finally works himself up to ask him out at the end of the week and he catches Ian as he’s leaving and there’s a guy leaving with him too with dark hair and very intimidating knuckle tats with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth as Jake runs up to him.

(“Oh, Jake - Mickey, Mickey - Jake”) and maybe he briefly thinks ‘oh his brother right?’

And Mickey gives him a half glance and a barely there acknowledgment and nods his head at the car for Ian to come with and then Jake just blurts out if Ian would be interested in getting a drink with him and he’s blushing and nervous and geez this guy is really cute.

So this is where it gets great cuz Ian gets a bit embarrassed and he scratches the back of his head and glances at Mickey, who’s slowly turned his head and is now fully invested in whoever this guy is (I’m picturing that smirk of his from the bar when he sees Ian come in with Cole, complete with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth) and Mickey looks up at Ian and is like “I told you to wear the fucking ring man, this is like the third time this month you’ve got someone drooling over your dick.”

And then Jake is starting to think maybe he’s missed something and then he KNOWS he’s missed something when Ian says, “Uh Jake this is Mickey - my husband.”

And now Jake’s thinking back to all the conversations he’s heard this past week between Ian and Sue and yeah Ian doesn’t shut up about Mickey and ok this makes way more sense than him being his brother but excuse the guy for having a super crush and maybe ignoring some rather obvious tells and oh god is he about to get beat up by Ian’s husband?

Anyway, maybe he apologizes profusely after this and runs away and then Ian shows up to work the next day with one of those rubber rings people wear instead of their regular rings, along with a very obvious hickey on his neck and Sue finds the whole thing absolutely hilarious and they work it out so they end up being good friends in the end (even if Mickey gives him a panic attack every time he comes by the station after)

And they all live happily ever after and maybe Jake meets a cute doctor on one of their runs and the end.
