You should hate J. K. Rowling.

You should avoid her work as much as possible.

You should dunk on people who continue to buy and talk about her work.

You should not tell people who have a lasting attachment to old works to kill themselves by the virtue of having that attachment and not being willing to pretend they never loved her work to begin with.

Harry Potter especially is something that was so, so important to a lot of characters. By all means - don't buy the books, or the spinoffs, or that stupid fucking game. But you can't pretend like HP never helped anyone. You can't pretend that aren't a fuckton of people alive, today, right now, who are only here because they had stupid wizard adventures to turn to for escape from their problems.

Hate JKR. Hate her work. Hate the people who continue to support her.

Do not hate the people just trying to get by in a world that is so, so incredibly persistent in trying to kill them.
