crawls out of my hole

good evening apex fandom and a special good evening to those who have read pathfinders quest but have NOT played the titanfall games. no overarching plot spoilers for PQ but this post IS about bangalore’s chapter because hoo boy am i feeling some feelings about that, so youve been warned!

firstly, by no means am i trying to argue that the militia is this perfect organisation who could or would do no wrong, because that’s not true. in a war, neither side are ever saints. 

think of WW2. the allies weren’t this perfect group of people, but history remembers the them as the good guys. and RIGHTLY SO. i am 100% NOT comparing the IMC to the n*zi’s, and you should never do that because at the end of the day, the IMC is a fictional organisation, but it falls under a similar context. the militia are indisputably the good guys when it comes to the wars, and the IMC are indisputably the bad guys. 

i fucking loved paths quest. but my one issue with that book is that it did a scary amount of playing both sides. yes, im more than willing to accept that the militia did some questionable shit, but im not willing to accept the way they tried to humanise genocidal corporate colonists through bangalore. for those who have not played the titanfall games (or at the very least titanfall 2), they were completely angled on ordinary people who took it upon themselves to fight the good fight against the IMC. 

the frontier militia began as farmers, laborers and mercenaries, stealing arms and titans directly from the IMC to build their arsenal. why? because they were thriving without the IMC, until the fuckers ran out of resources to help them fight in a conflict that is literally and canonically called the Corporate Wars. then they returned, hundreds of years later, laying claim to something that stopped being theirs a very long time ago.

so when bangalore tries to say that the outlands is a shithole because of “militia terrorists” not knowing their place and staying in their lane, its..... fucking hilarious. it was the greed of the IMC, setting up shop, pillaging planets of their resources, and then abandoning these planets as quickly as they took them over that made the outlands what it is. 

and also. bangalore’s sob story about typhon is equally ridiculous. yes, her brother zeke was killed, and that’s sad for her. but typhon had a zero civilian presence, and the planet... you know... wouldnt have even been destroyed in the first place if the IMC weren’t trying to use alien technology to blow up harmony. and for those who don’t know, harmony is a militia-controlled planet that is. heavily populated. by civilians. so with that being said, bangalore can shut the FUCK up about typhon.

but don’t get me wrong. i actually do like bangalore. she could be such a great character as an ex-IMC soldier who is learning to come to terms with the fact that the people she spent her whole life serving are very much on the wrong side of history. instead, the writers are trying to change the entire conversation between both titanfall games - the story that made the apex games possible. what they’re really doing is giving the IMC a redemption arc, instead of giving bangalore a redemption arc. and that fucking sucks :)

thats my biggest issue. there are many, many avid apex fans who’ve never played the titanfall games, who will never play them. and that’s okay! you don’t NEED to play them to really get what’s going on in apex, and path’s quest has some pretty good history lessons in it. but what the writers are currently doing is...indoctrinating is too strong a word for a videogame, but those fans are now under some really wrong impressions, and its not even their fault. bangalore’s chapter just seriously erased a lot of what the titanfall game’s stood for, and that makes me angy >;(

ok, my tips are!!:

draw as much as possible! even if it’s just lines and shapes with no meaning, you’re still developing your hand/eye skills

BUT: dont draw if you’re not feeling it! if you’re feeling fried, it’s better to take a break. go on a walk to somewhere scenic, read your favorite book, listen to some new music, hang out with friends, or just take a nap! rest up and find some inspiration! you can come back to your sketchbook when you feel energized again

draw stuff that you like! you’ll improve way faster if you’re passionate about what you’re doing

look at art you like with a critical eye. try to examine the different components and figure out what you think works or doesn’t work. try incorporation those components into your own work

read a lot of tutorials and other resources, but take what they say with a grain of salt

ultimately, remember that the only real rule to drawing is that doing it should make you happy

ohh um! im not sure which pens youre referring to, but if you mean the ones I use for my comics, i color them with Winsor & Newton ProMarkers, and I do the lines with a purple fine-point Sakura Gelly Roll Classic pen! i also use micron pens of all different sizes and colors in some of my non-diary comic art!

DEFINITELY. OKAY OKAY.im currently watching riverdale (youve probably heard about the hype) and its great if you like tv shows with town settings plus a good murder mystery and plenty of dramaalso everyone is hot. like plz could you noti really need to catch up on the 100 and once upon a time but they are definitely faves toothe 100 has like a post-apocalyptic, distopian scifi vibe to it which i loveee and it has a really great cast and some scenes are absolutely heart-wrenching

once upon a time is exactly what it sounds like, its based on fairy tales and its got a bit of EVERYTHING mixed together, set in a town called storybrooke in which everyone used to be a storybook character and the main character emma is swept up in all this and its just greatNOW FOR MOVIESi have so many. here we go:-power rangers (2017)m y g o o d n e s s. i just watched this a few days ago and i was blown away. its not like the best movie in the world but it definitely exceeded my expectations; the characters are developed pretty well i would say, its got #representation and kickass moves with team bonding which is rlly cute and i live for stuff like that

-sunshinethis is a scifi movie which really need more love cos its got a believable plot with so many ethical dilemmas and watching the characters struggle with it just hurts but its so intruiging at the same time(tw for suicide and blood btw)-the road to el doradobeautiful beautiful soundtrack, amazing storyline about two friends trying to find the city of gold and the struggles of their differences. its a feel good film ultimately and has really humourous moments. yeahh-emperors new grooveFAVE. THE BEST. SOOO FUNNY. this movie never fails to make me laugh, its brilliant, also has some really touching moments and i just love life and living(its got a sequel too)-pacific rimthis will always be in the top of movies i love because ill admit, it is quite cliche and your generic badass robot vs monster stuff but when u look past that and more at the characters relations and their development its just so beautifulalso dont forget the fact that the main two characters are not painted as a romantic couple which is gr9just read this post, it basically sums up how i feel about the movienow for books. hoo boi-the song of achillies (madeline miller)i bought this book off bookdepository and let me tell you, one of the b e s t investments i have ever made. it tells the story of achilles and patroclus in a different(read: gay) light and way its written is really beautiful to read and madeline miller is just a genius okay. you probably will cry-dustbin cat (ingrid lee)this books pretty close to my heart mainly cos i love cats and i could really relate to the protagonist, its also in a town setting if i can remember correctly. yeah i actually havent read it in a while but i remember i really really liked it-bridge to terabithia (katherine paterson)hfnfnrkksmsmen i have too many Feelings about this book. honestly so beautiful yet tragic. a friendship interwoven with an imaginary magical world. and great character development too as well as well as a really good movie adaptation-ill give you the sun (jandy nelson)hoooooooly shit i love this book to pieces. so it follows two stories; noah’s and jude’s who are twins and both artists specialising in different thingsyou can really see the character development and okay, i havent read it recently but like dustbin cat, its really good and i loved the endinghope this is what u were looking for anon ^o^
