ppl think maybe golbetty didnt revert to golb but her humanoid lightning form turns into a blob thats more golb shaped. hm.

I realized something as I woke up this morning. Gumbald isn’t just PB’s uncle, he’s her GREAT-UNCLE – she always specifies that whenever she mentions him. Him being a great-uncle means he’s actually a grandparent’s brother instead of a parent’s. But, with PB that’s an issue – her parents were the gum blob that formed on its own shortly after the war, as shown in Simon and Marcy. She can’t have grandparents naturally, much less a great uncle!

So, Gumbald HAS to be another creation of hers – hey, if she can make her own boyfriend (Mr Creampuff), and specify that this one specific candy person is her heir, why not make herself some older relatives?

(Unless he really is wonderful and cherished enough that “great-uncle” is actually just “great uncle”; unlikely, since even if she did admire his tree-chopping abilities and keep his cabin and outside clock around, he is still wearing a wizard robe and got thrown in the dungeon for being involved in the rebellion.)

I’m really banking on Gumbald being PB’s second experiment gone wrong. If she had to specify that Lemongrab was the first, there had to be a second or more, and that was way before Goliad (and arguably James). And the something that went wrong is almost definitely the rebellion, and very possibly him being in the Golb camp (with the Lich, we now know.)
