contemporary art get behind me🔪
#crying sobbing trying to tell people it's genuinely great and impactful#it's just that this obsession with the ''artist as an inscrutable figure'' and general elitism towards the arts#makes it so I it's almost always presented without the context to give it meaning bc ''you should already know''#or ''art doesn't need to be explained'' well that CAN be true but at a certain point contemporary and especially abstract art#are so tied to the artist's identity and beliefs themselves you can't just completely omit them that's detrimental to art itself#isn't art about putting something of yourself out there into the world and hoping someone else can experience it and understand?#isn't that the whole point? to connect? we're empathetic people not telepaths#can you tell I feel strongly about this. also hi I've been inside a train with no AC for over 5 hours#chi.txt
