⋇ random kita shinsuke headcanons

feat. his new dog 🐕

look, Kita never wanted a dog

sure, he finds most dogs cute and wouldn’t mind giving one a quick pat if it ever approaches him

but he wasn’t interested in actually having one and having to take care of it. he’s busy enough as it is with the farm, deliveries, household chores, etc.

but one day he comes across a dog by his farm. it doesn’t seem to be a particular breed, a yellow-brown medium-sized dog with a long snout and pointy ears.

they make eye contact and just stare at each other for a whole minute before Kita decides to just let it be while he works, it’ll probably go back home soon

surprisingly, the dog sticks around for the whole day. for the most part it just naps under the sun, but occasionally it will approach Kita to kind of see what he’s doing

at noon, Kita takes a break from working to have lunch. the moment he cracks open the bento box he packed earlier, the dog is sitting at his feet, looking up at him expectantly with its big brown eyes and mouth beginning to water

Kita is kind of weirded out by the dog staring at him while he tries to eat. at first he tries to shoo it away gently.

the dog is persistent, though, and it hold its ground, so Kita tries his best to ignore it

but the second the dog rests its head on his knee and whines

and that’s how Kita ends up sharing half of his lunch with the dog that day : )

when he’s done for the day and starts to walk away, he hears some very suspicious dog noises from behind him

turns around to see the dog is now right behind him! and also looking up at him so they stare at each other again for another minute

Kita starts walking again and he can see from the corner of his eyes - the dog is following right behind him

so he stops to see what it does - it stops and waits for him again. when he starts walking, the dog does too

at this point Kita is thinking oh no, what have i done because, again, he’s not planning on having a dog

he tries again to shoo the dog away, but to no avail. eventually he gives up and just lets the dog follow him home

back at home, he does not let the dog inside at all, because who knows what kind of diseases or ticks this random dog might have, and he’s kind of hoping it will go away on its own

after he washes himself up, he checks outside to find the dog is still! there! it’s napping by the front door

it’s not ideal, but Kita isn’t heartless. he leaves out a bowl of water for the dog and cooks more meat than usual for dinner for it

when he opens the door to give it some food, the dog immediately stands up and wags its tail at the sight of him and Kita just melts a little

as he’s about to fall asleep, Kita wonders if the dog will be ok sleeping outside. if it’s too cold or if it’ll rain tonight.

so he sighs as he gets up from bed and goes to get the dog, quietly calling for it to come inside

the dog very happily obliges

Kita doesn’t let the dog sleep with him in his room, but at least he can sleep peacefully knowing he didn’t just leave it outside throughout the night

the next morning he exits his room to find the dog already waiting for him in front of his bedroom door and seems very excited to see him

the dog just follows him around? everywhere?? as he’s cooking, cleaning up, even to the bathroom

and again, comes along with him to the farm. the same thing from the previous day happens again and Kita shares his lunch again

since the dog seems very adamant on following Kita around, he wonders if it belongs to someone or if its lost, so he decides to leave the farm a little earlier that day to take the dog to the vet clinic to get it checked out

at the vet, he finds out the dog is healthy (he’s very relieved) and is not chipped, but due to its friendly behavior they conclude that it probably had a previous owner, maybe it’s strayed too far from home or has been abandoned :(

the vet offers to take it to a local shelter if it’s too much of a hassle for Kita to take care of a dog

the dog shoots Kita those big puppy eyes and without realising, Kita is already declining the offer and says he’ll hold onto the dog until they find its owner

congratulations Kita, you are now a dog parent🥳

both Kita and the dog easily and quickly adjust to each other

every morning the dog is already waiting for Kita outside his room. Kita then proceeds to cook breakfast for himself and for his dog. after cleaning up, they walk to the farm together and his dog will lie down and watch him work. at noon, they eat the lunch Kita packed (he makes a separate bento box for the dog now) before Kita finishes up his work and they walk home again together.

Kita finds that he enjoys the company a lot. he’s generally a self-assured man but it does feel nice to know that this dog loves being around him so much. it’s adorable and warms his heart!!

Kita never names his dog💀

just straight up calls it “Dog”

as the dog probably belonged to someone, they must have had a name right? so he just calls it “dog” because: 1. he doesn’t know what its name is and 2. he thought this was just a temporary stay

he did try to find Dog’s owners - he lets the local shelter know, posts a picture of Dog on his instagram (Dog is 1 out of the 4 pictures he has posted on his account) along with his contact information, he even has Atsumu post about it

but no one ever showed up so Dog is still living with him now

and he’s gotten so used to calling it Dog and it doesn’t seem to have a problem responding to it, so it just sticks

his siblings and Atsumu thinks it’s so weird

at first he doesn’t talk to Dog at all unless it’s to call it for meals, and most of the time he just whistles

but one day he’s got some things on his mind and he’s sitting in the living room just pondering about it, the tv playing in the background and he sees Dog just staring at him with its head cocked to one side

Kita hesitates but eventually voices out his thoughts to Dog. it’s awkward and he feels stupid at first but is pleasantly surprised to feel much better afterwards

so now he talks to Dog a lot. on their walks or when Dog is just watching him as he does housework, etc.

and you rarely see them without each other now! Dog also goes along with Kita when he makes deliveries to Onigiri Miya (one of Dog’s favourite places. Osamu always gives him a dog-friendly onigiri as a treat) or whenever he visits his family (also gets a lot of treats). they just walk around as a pair now

Atsumu got an MSBY jersey for Dog, which Kita puts on it when they visit the MSBY team once. needless to say, Dog was the star of the show that day and was even featured on the official MSBY social media accounts

Dog becomes the unofficial mascot and honorary team member for MSBY because it kind of looks like a jackal and looks very cute in the jersey

Kita is a proud dog father
