Ōoku: The Inner Chambers was painfully realistic in its depiction of patriarchy, I can't even be mad at it properly
#even when the endemic raged. men still acted the same. had the luxury that women don't that was escaping house work#no wonder the women were eager to let men take over the labour work again#although that was not the same for the government workers who got to relegate the chores to servants#it wasnt just gender in question. if the female governors did proper reforms then. it wouldn't have slided back into the olden day#can't expect much from aristocrats#i dont expect escapism in this premise but god. could have pulled the band aid nicely
