upon reflection several months later i have to admit. bg3 doesn't have the greatest story ever. but is it still really good and really enjoyable and really top tier? hell yeah brother
#i think if you had to ask me at gunpoint i'd rank it below the shadowbringers expansion from hit catboy dressup simulator final fantasy 14#but that's a REALLY really really really high bar to clear#and bg3 by itself is already clearing a lot of other excellent games in their own rights#yin-thoughts#baldur's gate 3#it's a very well written and surprisingly airtight plot and most of the problems i have with its story come down to like#presentation and obviously dropped plotlines and some characters being clearly loved by the devs more than others#(coughs. a certain vampire twink compared to my man wyll)#i cant stress enough that these critiques of it are not saying i hate it it's literally my favorite rpg ever i adore it with all my heart#it's like. objectively i would not put it at the tier of best video game story of all time. sorta like lonetrail vs lingering echoes#but subjectively i adore both and love one more closely to my heart than the other#yknow?#idk if im making sense. im rambling too much. these tags are too long. ignore me
