Frank Chin is kinda insane for "Come All Ye Asian American Writers of the Real and Fake" because he lays out all the psychosexual tensions suffusing the political problem, like complete with illustrative examples from both high and low culture, and then he goes "okay anyway, here's my book report on The Romance of the Three Kingdoms"

#like it is relevant. most of the things in the essay are pertinent #actually looking up old and contemporary responses around on the internet- it's surprising how little people actually respond to him #like zooming in on ''fake vs real'' to say ''well Kingston saying what she felt so it can't be fake'' and completely ignoring that Chin's+#+trying to make a point about a particular falsehood #and of course he ignores whether or not Kingston's expressionism is authentic because it's relevant to what he's saying only+#+inasmuch as the authenticity of any expressionist work is just one of the questions about ''truth'' you can ask of these works #like he never doubts that she believes what she's saying #it's too bad Chin has an anti marxist bent cos I think he'd kinda fuck with Brecht if he read him
