Tagged by @mrcatfishing to talk about 10 random songs from my "playlist". Thank you! I love an excuse to ramble about music. I have my stuff curated by projects and mood, so I picked the first couple from several smaller playlists.

Delirium by case/lang/veirs– my current go-to for fresh blood on the playlist is putting on the Neko Case Pandora station and liking all the most interesting songs on Spotify, in a sort of algorithim soup. This is a supergroup for which I am only familiar with one of the artists. I will fix that eventually. Lovely song.

Howard by Cake Bake Betty– this song in particular is a deep cut, but I love love Cake Bake Betty, peak edgelord anti-folk jangly piano music. It’s a genre. I swear.

Vampire Smile by Kyla la Grange– on account of this iconic Utena AMV

Taxidermist Taxidermist by Lady Lamb– this album has been consuming my mind, I am DESPERATE to edit something with it. Probably not this song, though. It’s a bit long.

Paralytic States by Against Me! – like, the only, non-folk adjacent song that ended up here. It fucks. I don’t think I need to tell anyone that, I feel it’s obvious.

What Can I Say by Brandi Carlile– Bless country music and its best utility, for which I have been making efficient use of: crying real bad, real, real bad.

Leave the City by Magnolia Electric Co. – Jason Molina, in my heart forever. How can a trumpet sound so sorrowful (and the live version, jesus)? His heart is broken, and now yours will be too. “Broke my heart to leave the city / I mean, it broke what wasn't broken in there already”

Beggar’s Guild by Roadkill Ghost Choir– All-timer, to me. Did an OTGW AMV to this, a million years ago. Weird song to be nostalgic about, but I was a weird teen.

Once I Was by Tim Buckley– It was not until this very moment that I realized this song was not by Tim Hardin. Oops.

Kurt: Bondage makes it for a good part in what is the vast world of Dominance and Submission, and in itself, there are also several ways in which it can be used. A new form of it came to mind when I thought about ways to bond the body itself under the clothes, about how the inner fitting of certain clothes can act like a form of bondage, in ways that are more than just restricting. Think of a corset on steroids, in which the maker, or the Dom in this case, has sole control of every single movement their sunmissive make, while wearing these clothes. On the other hand, the right attitude while wearing these pieces made it all that much better for a good ending result.

Kyla: Okay so I had very high hopes for Kurt since he’s his own fashion icon, and he hit me with something I wasn’t expecting. The inside of the dresses are restricting, but looking at the outside you can tell that the restrictive inside is necessary and worth it. Just goes to show how deep fashion goes, and he’s a genius for figuring this one out.

Young Royals, Omar Rudberg and Edvin Ryding opened the QX gala 2023.

QX Gaygala 2023 was a wonderful 25th anniversary with great emotions, surprises and performances that lifted the roof.

It was a fantastic evening. When the QX Gala turned 25, at the beginning of February. Sissela Kyla led the Gala for the 8th time, but this was also her last Gaygalamormor has retired, she said from the stage. This year’s QX Gala began quietly and beautifully when Omar Rudberg sang the theme song from Young Royals together with a choir, all dressed in Hillerska’s school uniforms. At the end of the song the choir split and Edvin entered the stage and approached Omar. They hugged each other to the crowd’ s cheers and Edvin called out. Welcome to Gay Gala 2023. And we were on!

As usual humor and seriousness are mixed at the Gala, Sissela had a sharp script written by Edvard af Sillen and Dantel Rehnquist and Drew Laughs upon laughs from a full audience. She sat down on Christer Lindarw’s lap and wondered of they had really caught that cobra that escaped from Skansen and sang a new text to Parleporten to hbtq nominee Andreas Wijk. He has opened the wardrobe so you can come out.

Sissela told about the Swedish hero Julia, who lives in Oslo with her girlfriend and who overpowered the terrorist who shot two people outside a gay club in Oslo on the midsummer marathon. Julia was welcomed onto the stage and greatly applauded by an audience that gave her the longest applause of the evening.

On stage we also had a cavalcade of artists including. Molly Hammar, who also won the prize of the best song we were visited by Zara Larsoon, who started by singing a duet with herself in the song. Uncover. From Gaygala 2013 and then performed the new single, Can’t tame here, Sanna Nielsen gave us the middle classic, I’m in love, while Medina raised the bar with his, In I dim an. But the woman’ s trio Hanson Carson, Malmqvist got the most cheers. When they made their entrance and performed C’est la vie.

Main Lodalen was awarded the QX honorary award and was not only the gala’s happiest. Winner but the most surprised winner as we did not notify her in advance, the seconds when she realized she was going to receive the Honorary award we’re magical.

Sweden’s new drag queen Robert Fux handed out the Drag of the year prize and said among other things glitter is courage glitter is battle and the battle is not over long ways.

Petra “September”. Mark Lund gave us a really nice hits medley that got everyone on their feet, snicker-Björn, who came out as Lee was widely praised for his courage and handed out the tv program of the year to the Young Royals. While the HBTQ of the year was handed out by Benjamin Ingrosso and went to Edvin Tornblom. Who attached the older generation of gay’s for everything. They have done in the fight for hbtq rights.

Then she just stood there on stage, Leila K, feat Jessica Folcker and performed the iconic, “Electric” and every guest at Cirkus danced, sang and screamed in ecstasy. One of the many surprises that little has become of the gala’s signature though the 25 years that it has existed.

Saturday, September 23rd: Milestones

This time last year I was getting wasted at CRSSD and ended up spending my spending my Sunday with no ID or voice.

This morning I woke up early, meditated, threw on my baby blue work out gear and "Yes, Chef" hat and went on my farthest and longest run so far. 30 minutes, 3.04 miles. A good 5 K time (according to the internet) for a beginner runner in her 20s is 35.27 minutes. So I'm on track baby! Tomorrow I plan to run the 5 K. I am 0.06 miles away from knowing my current time.

My breathing is great, but my calves are a little sore. Okay a lot sore. Concrete isn't great for my joints. Grass and sand aren't great for my time. BUT I AM DOING IT. I'm 5 K adjacent. That's a win. That's a big deal even if it doesn't feel like one.

I got up and ran to the bay. It was beautiful, full of bikers and volleyball players. A couple of stoners set up a burger shop in the park area, appropriately titled The Fry Guys, the icon had a stoner with red eyes and french fries popping out of the top of his head. I bought a red Gatorade from them and petted some gorgeous golden retrievers on my way out. A day of progress.

I really needed to feel a win today and I'm not sure why. I ate the rest of ramen and ginger bok choy I made last night (lime and ground beef, chives). Coffee was coffe-ed.

I loaned the technicolor dress I was wearing today to Makenna for a dinner party she has tonight. Kelly and Kyla want to go out in North Park tonight so now I happen to be out of anything to wear but fuck it: sharing is caring. Texts from Kiera, Maddy, Nate Bayardo, and Kendall are currently pinging off my phone. Called Mom, and got old photos of me as a kid skating around from Dad. My Hinge is blowing up.

I don't know why I can't fight this intense feeling of malaise. I was high after my run, and now...bored? For the first time since starting sober September, I'm craving a drink. I'm sitting on the couch, tipping my head back and then pulling it forward to write another sentence about why...WHY...I'm not happier right now.

I don't want to give up. Maybe I just want a deeper reward. A sign that things are changing that I can't see even as I hit milestones.

The mantras are coming to mind. Fall in love with the process, worship your current step, look back, and see how far you've come.

Life isn't happening to you, it's happening for you.

Ugh, I'm so awkward sometimes. I just blew out my hair and smoked a joint in the backyard. Let's do this.
