"Edelgard is such a good character because, despite her outer appearance and her initial words, she is truly kind and caring at her heart. She's been through hell, but would never want anyone else to go through suffering, and so does her best to keep as many people safe as possible. She learns, through her friendships she gains through the academy, to put some trust in others - not fully, but her not being able to go all the way with her trust makes her that much more nuanced and complex.
