it's honestly disturbing my spirit that we finally got a recent sci fi/fantasy film with surrealist elements ft christian bale and natalie portman in it but that damn monkey's paw curled up into a fist bc the movie was fucking thor: love and thunder

#movie was trash but gorr + jane deserved their parallel arc in a much better film #like there was never the franchise investment time sunk into jane for an adequate emotional payoff there; def not in taika's bumbling hands #and gorr should've been what we got from thanos but that was so bloated & drawn out & done so recently and dissatisfyingly #that it falls flat even when the second round character is a better one #I'll be nice to brolin too but bale can do roles like this in his sleep & has been able to for 40 fucking years atp #but anyway goddamn that shit was simultaneously way too much at once and also gave us nothing.#at least bale & portman got fat checks out of it #but the dichotomy of watching this movie + sth like the northman in the same year feels insane.#like I KNOW cinema exists I just watched some but you'd never know it based on marvel's corporate media content.#movie equivalent of a hot dog breath burp. smfh.
