Live Oak Theatre Announces its 2024-2025 Season

“Season Passes” for the 2024-2025 Season are now available. Live Oak Theatre Announces its 2024-2025 Season. Live Oak Theatre Season Passes are now available.  Our Season Passes allow patrons to purchase multiple admissions at a discount that can be used for any of our in-season productions, both Main Stage and Youth Theatre productions. The purchaser may choose when they wish to attend an in-season show. Live Oak Season Passes: 3 admissions - $65 for adults, $25 for children 13 and under with the purchase of an adult seat. 5 admissions - $100 for adults, $40 for children 13 and under with the purchase of an adult seat. About the Acorn Theatre Acorn Theatre is Live Oak’s Youth Theatre program for students ages 8-18.   This performance class meets to rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00- 6:30. Open House and Registration for Live Oak Classes at the Live Oak Conservatory

The open house and registration for classes at the Live Oak Conservatory will be held on Monday, July 24 from 5 to 8 pm at the Carol & Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida 34601. New and returning students are invited to meet members of our EXPANDED faculty.. The class runs in 8 to 12-week periods with 6 or 8 performances at the end of each term. The Acorn Theatre works together to produce and perform 2 shows each year as well as participate in Brooksville’s annual Tree Lighting.  The Acorn Theatre production team consists of rotating Directors/Instructors who are assisted by a team of apprentices in the areas of Stage Manager, Assistant Director, costumes, choreography, lighting, sound, music and set design. Parent volunteers are always welcomed in these areas as well.Acorn Theatre apprentices are chosen from regular performers of Live Oak who have “grown up” on our stage. Live Oak Theatre announces its open auditions for Fiddler on the Roof. Open Auditions for Fiddler on the Roof To be considered for this audition, any talent, whether they’ve been involved in a Live Oak Theatre production or not, should submit a video audition of themselves performing one of the pre-selected monologues from the show and one of the pre-selected character specific songs from the show by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, June 21. Nonmembers of Live Oak Theatre company should email marie@liveoaktheatre.org for instructions on accessing links for music and character monologues, as well as full instructions on how to submit your audition video.. Fiddler on the Roof will be performed beginning September 22,2023 for a minimum of ten performances over the following three weekends. Additional performances may be scheduled. She falls in love with the children, and eventually their widowed father, Captain von Trapp. He is ordered to accept a commission in the German navy, but he opposes the Nazis. He and Maria decide on a plan to flee Austria with the children. Many songs from the musical have become standards, including "Edelweiss", "My Favorite Things", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", "Do-Re-Mi", and the title song "The Sound of Music". The original Broadway production, starring Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel, opened in 1959 and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, out of nine nominations. The first London production opened at the Palace Theatre in 1961. The show has enjoyed numerous productions and revivals since then. It was adapted as a 1965 film musical starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, which won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The Sound of Music was the last musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein; Oscar Hammerstein died of stomach cancer nine months after the Broadway premiere. The Theatre has a beautiful 3-acre property, with a covered veranda.
