Actually, it's ALSO fun to imagine Dean sneaking Jack the real, very complicated-and-specific list once Sam's out of earshot.

I would say that Sam wouldn't make fun of him for having a detailed grocery list, but in this very episode, Sam is in judgey-Sam mode, lol. He does this later in the ep -> The victim's arm springs out, like it's come to life (a reasonable fear in Dean's life, mind you):

The idea of Dean being more comfortable with Jack (and Cas), even when it comes to things as simple as grocery lists, really does stick in my head.

Either Dean's list was longer than what Jack read out: "Beer, eggs, toilet paper...beer again."

Or Jack is getting what HE wants from the store, and it's:
