Umang is a yearly event organized for the Mumbai Police where Bollywood actors and other celebrities put up a night of absolute entertainment as a thank you. The event is held to commend them for their hard work and service to their citizens. For those of us who love to glue our eyes to the television just to admire the outfits of our favorite celebs, Umang 2020 came in as a surprise. This year, the theme of the event was a little confusing as the actresses turned up in Indian attires like lehengas and sarees, and the actors wore cargos and casual t-shirts. Um, What? Why the double standards? Read on to find out what exactly your favorite celebrities rocked on this red carpet:

1. Priyanka Chopra

The gorgeous and fashionable Priyanka Chopra showed up in a beautiful Indigo Blue Banarasi saree that was designed by Masaba Gupta. The actress kept her accessories simple with dark blue bangles and lovely silver earrings that dangle. The striking silver borders of her silky Banarasi accentuated her minimal accessories and made her look like a true stunner. The actress took to Instagram to share an image of her look from the event and won an appreciative comment from her other half, who couldn’t travel to the country because of scheduling conflicts.

2. Katrina Kaif

The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actress stunned the crowd with a shimmery white ensemble designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Taking a cue from Priyanka, Katrina too kept her accessories minimal. Her bold smokey eye makeup and nude lips complemented her overall look. The embroidered mirrors on her outfit caused her saree to sparkle and shimmer as she moved, making the actress look like a true vision in white. The actress will next be seen in Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar. The film which is set to be released in March of 2020 is lead by Golmaal director, Rohit Shetty.

The Cocktail actress showed off her svelte figure in a gorgeously draped tie-dye sequinned saree. The stunning blush pink piece was the creation of Akanksha Gajria. The stunning model turned actress styled her saree with a floral tube top and pink jewelry. Going for the signature winged-eye look, Diana added color to her face with her light pink lipstick and bronzed cheeks.

4. Ananya Panday

And it was all yellow… The fresh-faced stunner rocked a gorgeous yellow lehenga that was designed by Arpita Mehta. Pairing her look with large golden Jharonkas, the Pati Patni Aur Who actress showed some skin in the classiest way possible and wowed the crowd with her youthful glow and dewy-eyed look.

5. Janhvi Kapoor

The Dhadak star made all our hearts go “Dhadak” in her fiery Umang Avatar. The actress rocked a gorgeous flame scarlet saree, and a minimal accessory look. She even shared an adorable picture of her with her father on Instagram.

6. Madhuri Dixit

The gorgeous Devdas actress stunned everyone with her subtle pastel yellow saree, beautiful scarlet red accessories, and lovely red lips. Donning a winged-eyeliner look, the stunning actress wore silvery eyeshadow to complete her ensemble.

7. Varun Dhawan

Varun’s outfit made us feel that the Student Of The Year star came straight from the audition of an army movie. While cargo pants are a good look in general, this outfit seemed to miss the spot. Pairing it with an out of place Street Dancer 3D (promotion much) t-shirt didn’t work well either. And to make matters even worse for the actor, the bottom part of his outfit was a lot lighter than the top part which made for a very odd combination.

8. Kartik Aaryan

The Pati Patni Aur Woh actor kept things too casual with his drab t-shirt and jeans. Rather than a red carpet, the actor looked like he was on his way to watch a movie with his pals after work. The up and coming actor is still riding on the success of his latest film and later took a picture with his future cast member Janhvi Kapoor.

9. Arjun Kapoor

Finally, some formals! Arjun Kapoor kept his look classy and donned a simple open suit with no tie and shades. See, boys; it’s that easy!

10. Rajkumar Rao

The Trapped actor donned a classy black colored Sherwani and white pants. The only accessory the actor wore with his outfit was a simple silver brooch. Talk about exuding confidence and rocking it like a pro!

Rohit Bal, whose designs are appreciated globally, has blamed a Chandni Chowk boutique Asian Couture for “blatant plagiarism”. The ace designer says the outlet has been selling his ‘copies’ for a while.

“Here is another example of blatant plagiarism which has been carrying on for a while. A brand called Asian Couture has been doing this for some time now. The worst part is that they just don’t care,” Bal posted on his Facebook page along with a few photographs comparing his designs with the boutique’s offerings.

“I’ve tried my best to stop them but nothing has worked. These are the sort of establishments that need to be targeted. Am posting a few examples. They even gave the audacity to put their name on the images when they advertise them.

“It’s gut wrenching and infuriating and really cuts into my business. But they have been doing it blatantly and without any sense of shame. Despicable parasites,” he added.

Located at Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi, Asian Couture is known for bridal clothes.

Before this, Bal also took on designer Seema Mehta for one of her creations which had a resemblance to his Summer/ Resort 2016 collection. After getting to know about the design worn by one of models on Facebook, Bal posted: “The orginal by Rohit Bal, the fake by some parasitical designer.”
