i feel the need to clarify re: my Control Freak and Mad Mod's relationship...

Neil Richards, the man Mad Mod was before all the genetic manipulation and the cloning, died when Control Freak was still a very small child. Neil was in his 80s at the time.

Control Freak doesn't remember his grandfather; and even if he did, Mod's changed so much about himself that he wouldn't be able to recognize anything but his voice.

seeing the "original" Neil Richards, however, the physical relationship becomes pretty obvious.
