My experience with [band]
My experience with [band] and [band]'s management starts in April 2022. I had emailed the band's business email that used to be in their bio in December 2021, and in April 2022 I got a response. I had been asked if I was available within the next couple of weeks to come down to Brighton and do a photo shoot with the band. Management really liked my work, and wanted to work with me. I was asked to provide my rates and any expenses that would incur. I had asked if I would be at least credited for these images on social media (tagged etc ...), and management said that they could not commit to that at that time. This photo shoot did not happen.
I worked with [band] for the first and only time in January 2023 and photographed / videoed their set.
I was completely blindsided by the fact that this could’ve been a huge opportunity for me, and it could change my career completely. When I got the email inviting me to work with the band, I screamed and actually worried my parents for a few minutes. I agreed to terms that I shouldn’t have (not a full written agreement, but various statements in emails). In hindsight I had no clue what some of them meant (and I think the band’s management knew that).
There was no formal contract, only emails. The band would own my photos 'in perpetuity' and when I asked what that meant, they (management) said that 'the band have the freedom to use them however they please'. Making money off of my photos, and putting them on merch that they would then sell out of, was not mentioned. I was under the impression they would only be using the photos on social media as I did not get any clarification, even though I asked for it. I wanted to press for a more detailed answer, but I was afraid that I'd lose the job.
This was never about the money that I'd potentially make from having my photos on merch, it's that I didn't even know it was happening. I was also 'allowed' to upload '3-4' photos to my social media from the gig, even though they were my photos. I was stupid enough to agree with this. Again, I felt as though if I challenged this I would lose the job.
At the end of the show in January 2023 I was promised at least a couple of shows on the upcoming tour, as '[I was] great to work with. Such a pleasure.' I have no evidence that I was offered shows during that tour as it was said to me in person. I was then let down at the beginning of March (after multiple follow up emails) with 'I don't think there is the additional need for your services also' when I asked about discussing the tour. I was devastated.
I was offered photo passes* to subsequent Manchester gigs and I took them as they had no strings attached, and the band would not own my images (that's why you've seen a lot of them on my socials).
I met a bunch of well-known creators, musicians and photographers while working with [band] and they were all so very sweet. Some of which I am still in contact with today, and some I am good friends with. I am very grateful for this.
I fully support Shelby, she is so incredibly brave for talking about her experiences, and it's because of her bravery that I felt confident enough to share my experience - although very different in nature.
I fully believe that [band]’s management wanted to take advantage of fans who wanted to photograph [band]’s gigs. And pay them as little as possible with no consistency in pay between photographers or how many photos they were allowed to post. (This is my own opinion)
I am not the only one that has had a negative experience with [band] and their management as a photographer / creative, but those are not my stories to tell and if they want to comment then they will. Please don't speculate on who these people are or harass them on social media, they have every right to not want to talk about their experiences. Please respect everyone involved.
Massive love, take care of yourselves.
am
(*Photo passes are offered to press photographers and non-touring photographers. They shoot the first three songs from the photo pit and then leave. Either to go into the crowd for the rest of the gig, or leave the gig entirely.)
please do not edit this post or reblog, do not take screenshots and post this on twitter or any other social media platform, thank you.

Photographers that have influenced me
James Nachtwey:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
James Nachtwey is known for employing various photographic techniques to capture the power and emotion of his subjects and the stories he tells. Some of the techniques he uses include:
Black and White Photography: Nachtwey often works in black and white, which can create a stark and emotionally charged atmosphere. This technique allows him to focus on the raw human emotions and the essence of his subjects without the distraction of colour.
Documentary and Photojournalistic Style: His work is characterised by a strong documentary and photojournalistic approach. He aims to capture unposed, candid moments that tell a story as it unfolds, offering an authentic and unfiltered view of events.
Close-Up Shots: Nachtwey frequently uses close-up shots to bring the viewer into the intimate details of a scene. This approach emphasises the emotions and expressions of his subjects, making the viewer feel a stronger connection with the individuals in the photograph.
Low Light and High Contrast: He often works in challenging lighting conditions, such as low light or harsh sunlight, to create dramatic contrasts that enhance the emotional impact of his images.
I have picked up a few techniques by viewing Nachtwey's techniques, such as the close-up shots mixed with black and white colours to give documentary-style images.
Dorothea Lange:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Close-Ups: She frequently used close-up shots to emphasise the faces and eyes of her subjects, enabling viewers to connect on a deeper emotional level with the individuals in her photographs.
Depth of Field: Lange often employed a shallow depth of field, which allowed her to focus on the subject while blurring the background. This technique draws attention to the central figure or element in her photographs.
For my project, these are the two techniques that I am constantly trying to practice and perfect. I am attracted to pictures that utilise these techniques, and so I am trying to master these techniques in my own photographs. I am constantly working hard to achieve the out of focus effect in all of my images.
Henri Cartier-Bresson:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Use of Shadows and Light: He was a master of using light and shadows to create mood and emphasize the subject. He often waited for the ideal lighting conditions to enhance the impact of his photographs.
Geometry and Symmetry: He frequently incorporated geometric shapes, patterns, and symmetry into his compositions, resulting in visually striking and structured images.
What has interested me in Bresson's work is how he incorporates geometric shapes into his work. Also, when lighting is manipulated to form the shapes, instantly capturing the attention of viewers.
Richard Avedon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natural Lighting: Avedon often preferred to work with natural light, creating a soft and flattering illumination. This approach allowed him to capture the genuine essence and character of his subjects.
Close-Up Portraiture: Avedon often took close-up portraits, particularly of the subjects' faces, to create intimate and emotionally charged images. His detailed approach highlighted the subject's features and expressions.
Since Avedon is a renowned fashion photographer, I have seen many of his portrait images, as well as the use of plain backgrounds, in order to make the subject the main focus of the image. Also, since the dress code in our church gatherings is traditional, there is an abundance of colour and customs that I am to capture.
Vivan Maier:
Tumblr media
Observational Skills: She had a keen sense of observation and a unique ability to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. Maier would often capture mundane moments and turn them into intriguing visual stories.
Medium Format Cameras: Maier used medium format cameras, such as the Rolleiflex, which provided high-quality images and allowed for waist-level shooting. This gave her a unique perspective and made it easier to capture candid moments without drawing attention.
Jim Marshall:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Low Light Photography: Marshall often worked in low light conditions, such as concert venues and recording studios. This required an understanding of camera settings and the use of available lighting, contributing to the atmosphere of his images.
Stage Photography: His stage photography captured musicians in action with the use of dynamic angles and compositions. He would often place himself close to the stage to get an up-close perspective of the performance.
By studying Marshall's work, I became aware that there are certain positions photographers have to be in to get excellent shots. When photographing a musician, it is not ideal to be stationary, but moving around just like the musician is a crucial aspect, as well as getting low on your knees to get an eye-level shot of the musician performing.

Tumblr media
Capturing the moments of your special day through wedding photography is essential to preserve memories that will last a lifetime. To ensure your wedding photographs are both exquisite and memorable, here are five recommendations for preparing for your wedding photography:
Meet with Your Photographer
Establishing a strong relationship with your wedding photographer is crucial for a successful photo session. Here’s why and how to effectively communicate:
Why It Matters
Clear communication helps your photographer understand your vision, preferences, and expectations. This understanding is essential for capturing the essence of your wedding day.
How to Do It:
Initial Meeting
Arrange an in-person or virtual meeting with your photographer. Use this time to discuss your overall vision, specific shot requests, and any particular styles you prefer.
Share Inspirations
Bring examples of photography styles you like. This could be a Pinterest board, magazine cutouts, or photos from other weddings.
Discuss Logistics
Talk about the schedule, important family members or guests to focus on, and any unique moments or traditions you want to capture.
Remember, the goal is to ensure that your photographer is well-informed and prepared to capture your wedding day exactly as you envision it.
Plan Your Timeline
A well-planned timeline is the backbone of a smooth wedding day. Here’s how to create a timeline that maximises your wedding photography:
Why It Matters
A timeline ensures that there is ample time allocated for all important photos, helps avoid unnecessary stress, and makes sure no important moments are missed.
How to Do It:
Work with Your Photographer
Collaborate with your photographer to understand how much time is needed for different parts of the day, from getting ready shots to the ceremony, and the reception.
Consider Lighting
Natural light changes throughout the day, so plan your photos accordingly. For instance, the golden hour (just before sunset) offers the best lighting for romantic outdoor shots.
Buffer Time
Include buffer times to accommodate any unexpected delays. This helps in keeping the day on track without rushing through important photo sessions.
Creating a detailed timeline not only helps your photographer but also ensures a relaxed and enjoyable experience for you and your guests.
Scout Locations
Knowing where you want your photos taken in advance can significantly improve the quality and creativity of your wedding photos.
Why It Matters
Scouting locations allows you and your photographer to plan the best angles, understand the lighting, and find unique spots that add character to your photos.
How to Do It
Visit the Venue
Schedule a visit to your wedding venue with your photographer. Take note of beautiful backdrops, interesting architecture, or natural scenery that would make great photo settings.
Plan for Variety
Look for a mix of indoor and outdoor locations to ensure you have options regardless of the weather.
Get Creative
Think about places that hold sentimental value, such as where you got engaged, or places that reflect your personalities and relationship.
By scouting locations ahead of time, you and your photographer can plan for a variety of beautiful and meaningful shots.

Why a Tanzania Photographic Safari Should Be on Every Photographer’s Bucket List
Introduction to Tanzania Photographic Safaris
Tanzania, a jewel in the crown of East Africa, is renowned for its stunning landscapes, rich wildlife, and vibrant cultures. A photographic safari in Tanzania offers unparalleled opportunities for capturing breathtaking images that tell the story of the wild. From the iconic plains of the Serengeti to the towering heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania is a photographer’s paradise. This article delves into why a Tanzania photographic safari should be on every photographer’s bucket list and what makes this experience so uniquely rewarding.
Tumblr media
The Diverse Ecosystems of Tanzania
Tanzania’s diverse ecosystems provide a variety of photographic subjects. The country is home to several national parks and game reserves, each with its own unique landscape and wildlife.
Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti is perhaps the most famous of Tanzania’s national parks. It is renowned for the annual Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles traverse the plains in search of fresh grazing grounds. This natural spectacle provides endless opportunities for dynamic and dramatic wildlife photography. The wide-open savannahs also offer stunning sunsets and sunrises, perfect for landscape shots.
Tumblr media
Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is another must-visit location for photographers. This ancient volcanic caldera is a microcosm of Tanzanian wildlife, boasting dense populations of predators and prey. The crater's unique geography creates an ideal backdrop for both wildlife and landscape photography. The early morning mist and the rising sun over the crater’s edge create ethereal light conditions that are a dream for any photographer.
Mount Kilimanjaro
Standing as the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro offers more than just a challenging climb; it presents an opportunity to capture stunning images of the snow-capped summit juxtaposed against the surrounding savannahs. The diverse climatic zones of Kilimanjaro, from tropical rainforest to alpine desert, provide varied photographic themes as you ascend.
Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park
For those looking to capture more secluded and untouched environments, the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park offer pristine wilderness areas with fewer tourists. These parks are home to large populations of elephants, hippos, and crocodiles, and provide a sense of wild, uncharted Africa.
Unique Wildlife Encounters At Tanzania Photographic Safari
A photographic safari in Tanzania promises encounters with some of the most iconic wildlife species.
Tumblr media
The Big Five
Tanzania is one of the few places where you can photograph all of the Big Five: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo. Each of these animals presents its own photographic challenges and rewards. Capturing a lion in the golden light of dawn, a leopard lounging in a tree, or a herd of elephants crossing the plains can be the highlights of your portfolio.
Birdlife
Tanzania is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 1,000 bird species recorded. From the vivid plumage of the Lilac-breasted Roller to the majestic flight of the African Fish Eagle, bird photography enthusiasts will find no shortage of subjects.
Primates and Lesser-Known Species
Don’t overlook Tanzania’s primates and lesser-known species. The Mahale Mountains and Gombe Stream national parks are famous for their chimpanzee populations. Capturing these intelligent creatures in their natural habitat can be a profoundly moving experience.
Tips for a Successful Photographic Safari
Equipment Essentials
To make the most of your photographic safari, ensure you have the right equipment. A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a range of lenses is ideal. A telephoto lens (200-400mm) is essential for wildlife, while a wide-angle lens is great for landscapes. Don’t forget extra batteries, memory cards, and a sturdy tripod.
Best Times for Photography
The best times for photography are during the golden hours – just after sunrise and just before sunset. The soft, warm light during these times enhances colors and reduces harsh shadows. For wildlife photography, early morning and late afternoon are also the times when animals are most active.
Staying Patient and Observant
Patience is key in wildlife photography. Spend time observing animal behavior; this will help you anticipate actions and capture the perfect moment. A knowledgeable guide can provide invaluable insights into animal habits and the best spots for photography.
Respecting Wildlife and Environment
Always respect the wildlife and their habitat. Maintain a safe distance from animals and avoid disturbing them. Follow park guidelines and ethical practices to ensure that your presence does not negatively impact the environment.
Conclusion
A Tanzania photographic safari is more than just a trip; it’s an immersion into the wild that promises to enrich your portfolio and ignite your passion for photography. The diverse ecosystems, iconic wildlife, and stunning landscapes offer endless opportunities for capturing images that tell the story of Africa’s natural beauty. Whether you are an amateur photographer or a seasoned professional, a photographic safari in Tanzania is an experience that should be at the top of your bucket list.

Hyperreal Photography: The Fusion of Reality and Imagination
Tumblr media
In the ever-evolving landscape of photography, a new trend has emerged that captivates viewers with its vivid detail and imaginative flair: hyperreal photography. Inspired by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), this style accentuates the minutest details of a scene, blending reality with imagination to create visually striking images. In this blog post, we'll explore what hyperreal photography is, how AI influences it, and why it's becoming increasingly popular.
What is Hyperreal Photography?
Hyperreal photography is a style that emphasizes intense colors, sharp contrasts, and intricate details. It goes beyond merely capturing a scene to enhance and exaggerate reality, often making the images look more vivid and lifelike than what the human eye perceives. This style bridges the gap between realism and fantasy, resulting in images that are both stunning and thought-provoking.
Key Characteristics
Intense Colors: Hyperreal photography often features saturated colors that draw the viewer’s eye and evoke strong emotions. The hues are more vibrant than in real life, creating a surreal yet captivating effect.
Sharp Contrasts: This style plays with light and shadow to highlight contrasts within the image. The use of deep blacks and bright highlights adds depth and dimension.
Detailed Textures: Every texture in a hyperreal photograph is accentuated, from the roughness of a stone to the softness of a feather. This meticulous attention to detail makes the image feel almost tangible.
Imaginative Elements: While based on real scenes, hyperreal photography often incorporates imaginative elements that blur the lines between reality and fantasy. This could be in the form of enhanced natural phenomena or digitally added components that enhance the scene’s overall impact.
The Role of AI in Hyperreal Photography
Artificial Intelligence plays a pivotal role in the creation and enhancement of hyperreal photography. AI algorithms are used to process and manipulate images, enhancing details and colors in ways that are difficult, if not impossible, to achieve manually.
AI Techniques in Hyperreal Photography
Deep Learning: AI systems use deep learning to analyze and enhance images. These systems can identify patterns and details in photographs, adjusting them to highlight specific aspects of the scene.
Image Super-Resolution: This AI technique increases the resolution of images, making them clearer and more detailed. It can turn a low-resolution photo into a high-definition image, perfect for hyperreal photography.
Style Transfer: AI can apply the style of one image to another, allowing photographers to infuse their photos with unique artistic elements. This is particularly useful in creating the exaggerated effects seen in hyperreal photography.
Color Enhancement: AI algorithms can automatically adjust and enhance colors in a photograph, making them more vibrant and true-to-life.
Why Hyperreal Photography is Gaining Popularity
Hyperreal photography’s rise in popularity can be attributed to several factors, including technological advancements, social media, and a growing appreciation for unique artistic expressions.
Technological Advancements
The tools and software available for photographers have become increasingly sophisticated, allowing for greater creative freedom. AI-powered editing software makes it easier to achieve the hyperreal effect, even for amateur photographers. Cameras themselves have also improved, with higher resolutions and better color accuracy contributing to the overall quality of the images.
Social Media Influence
Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest are visual-heavy, making them perfect for showcasing striking images. Hyperreal photographs, with their vibrant colors and detailed textures, naturally draw attention and engagement. As more photographers share their work online, the style gains visibility and popularity.
Artistic Expression
Hyperreal photography allows photographers to push the boundaries of traditional photography. It offers a way to explore and express their creativity, blending reality with fantasy to create unique and compelling images. This freedom to experiment and innovate resonates with both photographers and viewers, contributing to the style's growing appeal.
Conclusion
Hyperreal photography represents a fascinating fusion of reality and imagination, made possible by advancements in AI technology. Its emphasis on intense colors, sharp contrasts, and detailed textures creates visually stunning images that captivate and inspire. As technology continues to evolve and social media platforms amplify its reach, hyperreal photography is poised to become an even more influential force in the world of visual art.
Whether you're a professional photographer or an enthusiast, exploring hyperreal photography can open up new avenues for creativity and expression. Embrace the possibilities, and let your imagination guide you in creating your own hyperreal masterpieces.

Choosing the Best Wedding Photography Style for Your Big Day
Choosing the right photography style for your wedding can dramatically affect how you remember your special day years down the line. Wedding photos are not just snapshots; they are cherished memories captured to reflect the beauty, emotion, and unique atmosphere of your celebration.
From traditional portraits to candid moments, each photography style offers something different. Understanding these can help you decide on a photographer who will best convey the essence of your day. This blog post explores various wedding photography Auckland styles to help you determine which suits your personal preferences and needs the most.
Tumblr media
Understanding Wedding Photography Styles
Choosing the right wedding photography style is essential as it determines how the story of your special day is captured and remembered. Each style has its unique approach, technique, and aesthetic, which can greatly influence the mood and outcome of your wedding photos. It's essential to understand the differences to make an informed decision that suits your personality and wedding theme.
Documentary Style
Documentary wedding photography is all about capturing your wedding day as it unfolds naturally, without any posed or staged shots. This style focuses on capturing the raw, real emotions and spontaneous moments of the day—from laughter during the best man's speech to tears of joy during the ceremony. Photographers who specialise in this style blend into the background, allowing them to snap the most genuine interactions.
Approach: The photographer will move around the wedding, capturing events as they occur, aiming to tell a comprehensive story of the day.
Technique: Expect less equipment, letting natural light and the existing surroundings dictate the mood.
Aesthetic: The result is a series of candid shots that feel both intimate and dynamic, often resembling a behind-the-scenes look.
This style is perfect for couples who value spontaneous moments and want their wedding album to reflect the natural flow of their big day.
Fine Art Style
Fine art wedding photography is characterised by its dreamy, romantic, and aesthetic quality, almost resembling images from editorial fashion magazines. This style involves more artistic input from the photographer, who often uses creative lighting, unique angles, and advanced post-editing techniques to create a visually stunning narrative.
Approach: Photographers often direct scenes to some extent, setting up shots that include compositions that consider background elements and lighting.
Technique: This style may involve more sophisticated equipment to control lighting and create a specific ambiance.
Aesthetic: The photos are typically soft, often with a pastel color palette, and emphasise beauty and a timeless elegance.
Couples who love a more stylised, artistic look, and those who appreciate fine details and a touch of whimsy, often go for the fine art photography style.
Traditional Style
The traditional wedding photography style, sometimes known as "classical," involves many posed shots with friends and family, often at set locations and with specific directions from the photographer. This style ensures that all key wedding elements and important guests are captured deliberately and formally.
Approach: The photographer usually has a checklist of standard shots, and significant time is devoted to staged, posed sessions.
Technique: Flash setups and tripods are common, as is working with assistants to manage groups and setups.
Aesthetic: The result is a collection of poised, gracefully arranged photographs that serve as formal documentation of the day.
This style is suitable for couples who prefer a more structured approach to their wedding photos, ensuring all family members and guests are included and every detail is captured with precision.
Candid Style
Candid wedding photography captures unposed and natural moments of the wedding without intrusion from the photographer. It’s similar to documentary style but focuses even more on spontaneity and individual reactions rather than the entire event’s unfolding story.
Approach: Photographers using the candid style typically hover at the edges of events, capturing moments as they naturally occur without guests often realising they are being photographed.
Technique: Fast lenses and unobtrusive camera equipment are often used to catch fleeting expressions and interactions.
Aesthetic: The photos are vibrant and full of life, capturing laughter, surprise, and affection with a very real and immediate feel.
Couples who choose wedding photography Auckland are usually those who want to look back on their photos and see the genuine emotions and unplanned moments of their day, rather than a series of directed poses.
Each of these styles offers something different, allowing couples to choose a method that aligns with their vision for how their wedding should be immortalised. Whether you lean towards the authenticity and spontaneity of documentary and candid styles, the beauty and artistry of fine art photography, or the timeless tradition of classical portraits, there's a style that fits every couple's unique taste and personality. Choosing the right one will help ensure that your wedding photos are as memorable and special as the day itself.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Photography Style
Personal Preferences
The most important factor in choosing a wedding photography style is what you and your partner personally love. Think about the photos you admire on social media or in magazines. Do you lean more towards the bright, bold colours, or are you drawn to images with a softer, more vintage feel? Your preference will guide your decision, ensuring you are thrilled with the final results.
Venue and Wedding Theme
The setting of your wedding plays a pivotal role in determining which photography style will work best. For example:
A grand ballroom might suit a classic or fine art style, highlighting the splendour and elegance of the space.
A rustic outdoor venue blends beautifully with a documentary or candid style, capturing the natural interplay of light and scenery.
Consider how the surroundings and the theme of your wedding can enhance and complement the photographic style you choose.
Relatability to Photography Style
Finally, consider how well you relate to the photography style. This can mean assessing how comfortable you feel with the photographer’s approach or if their style reflects the authenticity of your relationship. For instance:
If you are typically shy or reserved, a candid or photojournalistic photographer who takes a more discreet approach might suit you best.
For outgoing couples, a photographer who engages more and can orchestrate stunning posed shots might be ideal.
Choose a style that feels natural to you, ensuring that you and your guests remain at ease, and the joy of the day is captured authentically.
Final Words Selecting the ideal wedding photography Auckland style is more than a decision about aesthetics—it's about how you want to remember your special day. Your wedding photos will be cherished for years to come, serving as a lasting testament to the emotions, joy, and beauty of the occasion.
Whether you envision a series of candid moments that encapsulate the spontaneity of the day, an album of fine art images that bring out romance and elegance, or traditional portraits that capture the formal aspects of your celebration, there is a style that perfectly aligns with your vision.
When making your decision, consider the personal connection you feel with the style and the photographer, as this rapport will play a crucial role in how comfortable and natural your wedding day feels. Think about how the style complements your wedding venue and theme, and reflect on how you want to see yourself and your loved ones memorialised.

Plan Your Shoot: Plan your shoot by thinking about things like the time of day, the amount of natural light that will be available, and any people that might be there. Portraits can look great in warm colours in the evening, and talks can be filmed best when the sky is clear.
Take in the Local Feeling: Khar Road is a lively mix of different countries and energies. Take natural pictures that show off the area’s unique vibe, or plan scenes that fit in with the vibe.
Okays and Permissions: Do some research and make sure you have the right permits to film or take pictures in certain places, especially on private property.
Why Should You Pick Khar Road?
An Interesting Mix of Old and New: Khar Road has a special mix of art deco buildings, parks, and trendy shops that can be used as backgrounds for your project.
Accessibility: Khar Road is easy to get to for your shoot because it is well-connected by public transportation.
Hidden Gems: Get off the beaten path and find unique places that will give your work a unique touch.

Working Men: Glenn Busch Photographs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glenn Busch, born in 1948, is an Auckland based photographer who portrayed 30 men in his seminal book "Working men" from between 1981-1983. Busch captured these manual labourer workers in their natural environments and avoided the use of studio lighting nor planned photoshoots.
His subjects faced the camera where a full body shot would showcase their identities paired with their livelihood. The unique ways of how these 30 men stood to be photographed, as an example with a wider stance, or hands in their pockets, it give a glimpse as to how they express and represent themselves.
Busch taped extensive interviews and edited them down to create powerful texts sided with each individual portrait to allow for them to have their say and tell their story.

Kanyakumari tourist places
Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, is a vibrant and picturesque destination that beckons travelers with its unique blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural richness. The allure of Kanyakumari tourist places is complemented by the charm of Kodaikanal tourist places, making this region a must-visit for anyone exploring Tamil Nadu.
Kanyakumari is renowned for its stunning landscapes where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean meet. This geographical marvel provides a breathtaking view, especially during sunrise and sunset, making it a photographer's paradise. One of the most iconic landmarks in Kanyakumari is the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Situated on a small island off the coast, this memorial honors Swami Vivekananda, who is believed to have attained enlightenment here. The serene ambiance and the panoramic views of the ocean from the memorial are simply awe-inspiring.
Another significant attraction is the Thiruvalluvar Statue, a towering monument dedicated to the celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher, Thiruvalluvar. Standing at a height of 133 feet, this statue symbolizes the profound teachings of Thiruvalluvar’s classic work, the Thirukkural. Visitors can take a short ferry ride to the statue, which provides not only a spiritual experience but also a fantastic view of the surrounding waters.
For those interested in spirituality and architecture, the Kumari Amman Temple is a must-visit. This ancient temple, dedicated to the virgin goddess Kanya Kumari, has a rich history and is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. The temple's unique coastal location adds to its mystical aura.
The Padmanabhapuram Palace, located a short drive from Kanyakumari, is another historical gem. This magnificent palace complex, which once served as the seat of the Travancore rulers, showcases traditional Kerala architecture and is adorned with intricate woodwork and murals. The palace offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s royal heritage and craftsmanship.
Nature enthusiasts will find solace at the Vattakottai Fort, a coastal fort offering panoramic views of the sea and the Western Ghats. This 18th-century fort, built by the Travancore kingdom, is now a tranquil spot perfect for picnics and leisurely walks.
Kanyakumari is not just about scenic beauty and historical sites; it also offers vibrant local markets and culinary delights. The local bazaars are filled with handicrafts, seashell art, and traditional attire, making it an ideal place for souvenir shopping. Additionally, the coastal cuisine, with its array of fresh seafood and traditional Tamil dishes, is a treat for the taste buds.
Moving from the coastal splendor of Kanyakumari to the serene hill station of Kodaikanal, travelers are greeted with a completely different but equally enchanting experience. Kodaikanal, often referred to as the "Princess of Hill Stations," is nestled in the Western Ghats and offers a cool, misty retreat from the tropical heat.
Among the highlights of Kodaikanal tourist places is the serene Kodaikanal Lake, a man-made marvel surrounded by lush greenery. Boating on the lake, cycling around its perimeter, or simply enjoying a picnic on its banks are popular activities. The Coaker’s Walk, a narrow pedestrian path along the edge of steep slopes, provides breathtaking views of the plains below and is particularly stunning during sunrise and sunset.
Another natural wonder is the Silver Cascade Falls, a majestic waterfall formed by the outflow of Kodaikanal Lake. The sight and sound of water cascading down the rocks is both mesmerizing and refreshing. For those interested in botany, the Bryant Park is a botanical garden with a wide variety of plants, flowers, and trees, including some rare species.
The Pillar Rocks, three giant rock formations standing tall amidst the clouds, are another must-see. These rocks offer a dramatic landscape and are a favorite spot for nature lovers and photographers. The Guna Caves, also known as the Devil’s Kitchen, add a touch of mystery and adventure with their deep caverns and unique rock formations.
