The speaker of Canada’s House of Commons resigned Tuesday for inviting a man who fought for a Nazi military unit during World War II to Parliament to attend a speech by the Ukrainian president.

Just after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered an address in the House of Commons on Friday, Canadian lawmakers gave 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka a standing ovation when Speaker Anthony Rota drew attention to him. Rota introduced Hunka as a war hero who fought for the First Ukrainian Division.

Observers over the weekend began to publicize the fact that the First Ukrainian Division also was known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis.

Changing up the way the blade severed the main artery would keep the SS detectives on their toes, compared to what seemed like a serial killer targeting male SS officers.

Illya looked down at the body, sliding a glove on so he could make sure the n@zi was deceased. “<You’re rather skilled with a blade,>” he complimented once he was certain there was no pulse, offering a small smile to Kit despite the nature of their business. It sounded like a set up for a joke — two Allied Forces spies walk into an SS bar, and they walk out alive.

“<We need to go,>” Illya suddenly added, eyes darting to the door, tossing the SS officer’s body over his shoulder with uncanny ease. He took Kit’s hand with his free one, going over to the window. “<Can you jump down to the ground from the awning, or do you need me to catch you>?” Illya asked, wanting Kit to get out of there safely. His French accent cracked during the question, a Russian one momentarily slipping through.

ugh. so there's a thing going on in one of my former discord communities where a person bound a fanfic set in a concentration camp... and decorated it in the style of a nazi uniform. they're defending it because "dead dove" and "anti censorship". now i'm not going to lie, some of the rhetoric i've seen around this discourse does sound like anti reasoning, but as far as i know, it's poor fucking taste to put a nazi uniform on your bookshelf.

Considering nazi imagery is banned in Germany I'm going to go out on a limb (a short one) and say that's actively antisemitic.

Even if it somehow wasn't, it's in extremely fucking poor taste.

after   the   death   of   his   father   ﹠   separation   from   his   sister,   bucky   began   to   stray   from   religion   as   a   whole,   as   it   was   becoming   more   ﹠   more   dangerous   to   be   outwardly   jewish,   ﹠   his   focuses   fell   on   combat   training   within   the   military   ﹠   becoming   the   camp’s   mascot.   by   the   1940’s,   he   had   been   sent   overseas   to   england   to   receive   further   training,   the   only   remnants   of   his   faith   now   a   star   of   david   necklace   kept   hidden,   burying   his   past   ﹠   never   making   mention   of   his   lineage   to   anyone.

if   you   ask   him   why   he   chooses   to   do   any of this,   he’ll   tell   you   it’s   to   honor   the   memory   of   his   mother   –   an   act   of   defiance   on   behalf   of   those   who   persecuted for their religious beliefs.   a reminder that his people will always persist   –   ﹠     a   source   of   comfort,   to   nurture   his   inner   child   who   never   got   the   chance   to   just   be   a   kid.
