Yep. It's very likely the data is already been pulled into the AI models and cannot actually be pulled out without wiping the models, regardless of what nice platitudes they say.
Hopefully you can prevent future posts being pulled. That presumes they actually honor this setting AND don't flip it on and off periodically like Tumblr Live - which I'm sure would just be an accidental code update flipping the flag off, not intentional, right? Sure.
For each side blog you want to go to each individual blog settings page either by browsing through as directed above or going to www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/<blog-name> (for those URL savvy) and turn on "Prevent third-party sharing for <blog-name>". Ctrl+F and search for third to do this faster.
To reiterate: I feel like they have made this setting intentionally confusing. To opt-OUT of AI, you need to turn this setting ON.
They are already selling data to midjourney, and it's very likely your work is already being used to train their models because you have to OPT OUT of this, not opt in. Very scummy of them to roll this out unannounced.
