PhoneX Review : Best Budget SmartPhone under $200
Tumblr media
Being 7x cheaper than flagships, I never thought PhoneX could be worth anything at all. Luckly I was intrigued by the design to pick it up. And then.
Tumblr media
"Numbers say nothing about a device", I used to say. I was a firm believer in pricey brand names. But the PhoneX completely flipped my way of thinking. The Phone X series from latest smartphone startup has helped shape what the budget smartphone segment in this world is today. We've had some iconic phones such as the XonePhone, and now the PhoneX, all of which upped the performance war in the budget segment by introducing powerful SoCs under $200. With a vibrant 6.3" screen, triple camera system for real life-alike photos and stellar performances powered by Android underneath the hood — the PhoneX is a true flagship phone. And with 32GB of space and ultra-fast facial recognition technology, you will be amazed to discover everything this phone has to offer. Get your PhoneX while it's still in stock for a discounted price at $199!
PhoneX design
Tumblr media
PhoneX's design just blew me away. It looked didn't look very different from its predecessor, like an extremely expensive flagship phone with its high screen-to-body ratio. I picked the phone up to be fascinated by the blue gradient body. My finger just naturally slid across the surface of the phone's back to what was — to my surprise — a fingerprint reader. PhoneX seems to have gone the extra mile and really knocked it out of the park in terms of design. Available in three striking colors, the PhoneX's best budget smartphone features a glass back which we haven't seen at this price point. The body also has a P2i nano coating, responsible to make this budget smartphone phone splash-proof. >>Free delivery available at your location. Check out availability. The ports are placed ergonomically, with the 3.5mm headphone socket at the top and the USB port down at the bottom. It's nice to see PhoneX has an IR blaster on the top, which can be used for controlling infrared home appliances via the Remote app. The PhoneX does have a white notification LED tucked on the usual top of display panel, making it easy to notice messages.
Tumblr media
Phone X has gone a step further and used Gorilla Glass 5 for the front and back of the phone, which is quite impressive at this price point. The sides are still plastic, but overall, this device feels very premium to hold. 😊
PhoneX specifications and features
The PhoneX features a Snapdragon 660, which is a chip that's become increasingly common in budget high performance smartphone segment. All thanks to price cuts over the past couple of months, smartphone processor prices have became stable. On paper, it's not as powerful as the iPhone is built around, but it's more than enough to handle its fair share of work. The fact that you can get this much power for just under $199 is an achievement in itself. The PhoneX starts with the variant (we are reviewing) 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage at that price (available), and another variant (not available) 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for $100 more. The PhoneX also supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5, 3 satellite navigation systems, USB-OTG, and the variety of sensors.
Tumblr media
PhoneX Camera, Performance and Battery Life
Packed with a decent set of features, it is no less than a best performance phone under $200. PhoneX is a good phone to live with for most day-to-day tasks. The processor has enough power to handle the usual social and productivity apps that we all use, and it even does a good job in games. Battery: The 4000 mAh battery on the PhoneX will last you a full day on a single charge and there’s fast charging support too. The original charger and accessories come bundled in the box. Unlike other budget smartphone, the PhoneX doesn't have any heating issues. Sure, the phone got warm after we played heavy titles such as PUBG Mobile or god of war for a little while, but it wasn't close enough to make us take a break between gaming sessions. Display: PhoneX has a big display, making it look taller. But the user interface has a one-handed software mode that can be activated with a swipe gesture on the Home button. This feature has lagged during test few times, but work as expected most of the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apart from the quick fingerprint sensor, the phone also has AI face recognition. This is decently quick under good light. There's even a raise-to-wake gesture, but it isn't reliable in very low-light, and it refused to work properly for us. That can be avoided as one do not use this feature often at night. Camera: In daylight, the PhoneX captured quite impressive images. Colors and details were good, although a bit of sharpness was lacking. There were also minor traces of chromatic aberration when shooting against bright backgrounds, and the HDR doesn't always handle the exposure of bright areas well.
Tumblr media
Video: We tested PhoneX for media files including videos and it performed well in our tests. Videos were sharp, colors were punchy, although red levels could have been better. The phone is also L1 certified, which means you'll be able to stream TV shows and movies at the highest supported resolution from OTT services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The inbuilt speakers gets fairly loud, while not breaking bass. Edit- After writing the article, we were informed that company has added a new ‘Night' shooting mode. This takes a second longer to process shots, but the end results were generally a bit brighter than using Auto mode.
Tumblr media
Our Recommendation
With a price of $199, the variant we have tested — seems like a no-nonsense. You get a good looking phone with a good display, excellent build quality, a decent set of cameras, day-long battery life and solid app performance. It provide support to Dual Sim and you can use micro SD card to increase storage space. Battery life is good, and we typically managed to average an entire day's worth of usage on a single charge with a little left over. In our HD video battery test, the PhoneX ran for 11 hours and 50 minutes, which is quite impressive. We recommend this phone if you are willing to get high value of your money on budget smartphone. While we can not expect iPhone features, but this phone is quite impressive for best smartphone under $200.

I Couldn't Believe What I Was Experiencing
Tumblr media
The colorful display instantly turned on as the my fingerprint was scanned. I played around with the phone running latest Android, thinking why I had never heard of such an amazing device. I watched in awe as every application I started opened within a split-second after touching the screen. It was unbelievable. I quickly went into Settings just to discover the phone also has a whopping 32GB of memory... why didn't I have so much space on my last high-end device? But, I thought, there must be a catch.
How To Buy PhoneX

The Infinix Hot 10S NFC offers a responsive and large 90Hz display, with a focus on game optimization and ease of use—all for a budget smartphone price of under $200. To help you decide if this cheap smartphone fits your needs, let's take a closer look at what's on offer.
youtube
Infinix Hot 10S NFC Design
Like other budget smartphones, the Infinix Hot 10S has a plastic build that comes in a small array of colors. There's Morandi Green and Heart of Ocean along with the suitably named 95° Black and 7° Purple, to go with the temperature naming convention.
The back of the phone is an eye-catching shimmering texture made via laser microlithography, though it may be a bit gaudy for some. As an interesting bit of the trivia, Infinix notes this was inspired by the largest salt flat in the world, the Salar de Uyuni.
Tumblr media
At the front of the phone, there’s the selfie camera and two dual LED lights placed for both flashlight use and an adjustable selfie flash. On the back, there are three slightly raised cameras, the main flashlight, and a fingerprint sensor. The bottom houses the speaker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the micro-USB port.
The right side houses your standard power button and volume keys. The left side houses the SIM tray. The Hot 10S NFC does have dual 4G SIM slots and a MicroSD slot to expand your storage capacity.
Infinix Hot 10S NFC Technical Specifications and OS
Tumblr media
The Infinix Hot 10S NFC comes with 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and is powered by the Helio G85. To get an idea of this upgrade, the Helio G85 boasts improvements of 210% in GPU performance and 84% in CPU performance compared to its predecessor, the Helio G35. When you combine this with the 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling, it makes for a very smooth experience considering the low cost.
On the software side, the Infinix Hot 10S NFC utilizes the XOS 7.6 (Dolphin) launcher, based on Android 11. Thanks to the octa-core processor, it's all very responsive which makes navigating and swapping between apps a breeze. However, beyond the ease of use provided by the Hot 10S's hardware, there are some initial things to clean up with the pre-installed apps and base experience.
Of Infinix's pre-installed apps, the majority are non-removable, so if you have a low tolerance for bloatware keep this in mind. However, if you take the time to disable their notifications, they're largely forgettable. There are also some advertisements, but you can disable the commonly seen ones from the screen they appear on.
A Massive Bright Screen for Gaming and Entertainment
Tumblr media
The Infinix Hot 10S NFC measures out at 171.5mm x 77.5mm x 9.2mm. To give a better idea of its size, this places the Hot 10S NFC slightly above the base Samsung Galaxy S21 and the iPhone 12. Now despite this large screen size, the phone itself isn’t too heavy but you will definitely feel it in your pocket.
For its display, the Infinix Hot 10S utilizes a 6.82 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1640. While I would have preferred a 1080p screen, the quality wasn't too much of a concern while gaming. When streaming video content, the 720p resolution limitation was more noticeable especially with some colors appearing more washed out.
As smartphones go with us everywhere, you do need to be able to see your screen in outdoor lighting. Thankfully, the Hot 10S NFC possesses an adequate 440 nits of peak brightness. So even on a sunny day, you can make out the screen just fine.
DTS Sound, Headphone Jack, and Speaker
Tumblr media
When it comes to sound, the Infinix Hot 10S is merely acceptable. However, if you’re really looking for immersion especially when gaming, it's worth capitalizing on the 3.5mm earphone jack or its Bluetooth for wireless earbuds.
If you want to take advantage of the inclusion of DTS sound, this is even more advisable. With a proper sound setup, you can swap the stereo sound between wide, in-front, and traditional headphone presets. There's also the option to boost the bass, vocal, or treble.

For fans of WhatsApp, Infinix has empowered the app via its Social Turbo assistant. While the feature itself suggests it's for chatting apps in general, you'll be prompted to install WhatsApp if you haven't already. With Social Turbo, you can access a voice changer, voice recorder, beauty mode, and save your friend's statuses and any messages that you've missed.
While the limiting factor of this integration won't appeal to everyone, the plethora of bonus features does make it easier to focus on a single chat app.
Gaming Experience With the Infinix Hot 10S NFC
Tumblr media
For its intending focus on gaming, the Infinix Hot 10S NFC provides instant accessibility to bigger mobile titles. To get the most of the Hot 10S's refresh rate and for smoother animations during gaming sessions, there’s the option to swap between 60Hz, 90Hz, or auto-switch based on use. Keep in mind that not all apps and games will support a 90Hz display, so it's not the best decision to just always leave it on at the cost of your battery life.
The 180 Hz touch sampling rate did a good job detecting my finger movements even against more fast-paced movements in games like Call of Duty Mobile or Asphalt 9. Still, the bigger question is always how a budget gaming smartphone holds up over longer testing.
For the first gaming benchmark, Call of Duty Mobile on medium settings ran without issues for two to three-hour gaming sessions. Similarly, Genshin Impact ran on its low and lower preset very smoothly when played for that same timeframe. To push the Infinix Hot 10S NFC further, I also ran Genshin Impact at overclocked settings with only a little more lag and the phone running a bit hotter.
For those looking to do lengthy silent or voiced screen recordings in tandem, the Hot 10S NFC tends to run hot. For this, Infinix does provide its own cooling option under the Phone Master app, but you can also mitigate this by taking a short break. For more graphically simplistic mobile games, you can have extensive gaming sessions without ever noticing the phone getting warm.
Amongst the user-focused areas of the Hot 10S NFC, it felt like the game mode and game assistant panel were the most developed by Infinix. With the assistant panel, you can take screenshots and start screen recordings quickly by simply swiping from the left to pull up a quick-access menu. Similarly, you can access game mode settings to track your gaming time, impose anti-addiction settings, or make sure you can't accidentally swipe off a game in progress.
Despite all that, the inclusion of the assistant panel's Magic Touch option was a pleasant surprise. This quick panel option allows you to map parts of your screen to the volume buttons at the top of the phone. While this temporarily disables their functionality for volume, it's easy enough to adjust via the slider while capitalizing on the additional inputs.
Infinix Hot 10S NFC Battery Life, Power Saving, and Charging

When it comes to the battery life of the Hot 10S, it definitely benefits from the large 5000mAh battery. If you want to spend a whole day gaming, the Hot 10S can handle that. For less intense use cases, you can spread a full charge out across days.
If you're still afraid of running low, you can optimize your battery life by taking advantage of the power boost presets to reduce power consumption. After running down to around 5% of the battery's capacity, there's also the option to enable ultra power saving which can add 3.5 hours of life by only allowing calls, SMS, and use of the calendar.
As a downside, the micro-USB port charges at 10W, so it takes three hours on average to get it to a full charge each time.
Keeping the Infinix Hot 10S NFC Secure
With any smartphone, it's important to have different ways to keep your information protected. In terms of smart locks, the Infinix Hot 10S offers the standard PIN, password, and pattern options for a screen unlock. However, you can also take advantage of your biometrics.
If you prefer to use the fingerprint sensor located at the rear of the phone, you can use either a single fingerprint or multiple fingerprints. To quickly unlock your phone, there's also the option to register your face.
The Focus Areas of the Infinix Hot 10S Camera
Tumblr media
One of the more disappointing areas of the Infinix Hot 10S is its cameras.
On the rear, there's the 48MP main camera, a 2MP depth camera, and an AI camera. For those ready to grab a selfie at any time, the 8MP selfie camera comes with adjustable flash brightness via its two front LED lights. In good lighting conditions, you can get some good shots for personal use or social media with either the selfie or rear cameras, but it's in the quality range of what you’d expect from a sub-$200 phone.
With the AI camera, the exact way it functions isn't entirely clear. The in-camera description suggests it automatically detects the scene and optimizes for the best photo quality. However, it can take a moment to get the camera to recognize anything; the quality still seems entirely based on the amount of available light.
Tumblr media
Of the other offerings, the bigger items of note are the super night mode for low-light shots, the 240fps slow-mo, and the 2K video recording.
With super night mode, it's all about holding your phone steady and letting in more light until a photo is taken. So you may wish to consider a tripod or gimbal while taking advantage of it.
Tumblr media
Personally, the lack of a macro camera or ultra-wide shot was disappointing, but understandable given the price point and gaming focus.
Infinix Hot 10S NFC vs Infinix Hot 10S
When making your purchase decision, it really boils down to whether you're after more overall power to your phone or NFC as a feature.
For those unfamiliar with NFC, NFC enables you to make wireless payments through your device (Google Pay, in this case). You can also connect two NFC-enabled devices just by touching them with each other to begin sharing contacts, photos, and video.
If you'd rather capitalize on the budget performance power of the non-NFC variant of the Infinix Hot 10S then you can take advantage of its 6 GB of RAM and 6000mAH battery. This does cost a little more; if you're interested in this device for straight performance and continuous use, the upgrade cost isn't significant.
Can You Repair the Infinix Hot 10S NFC?

When setting up the phone, you're able to activate an e-warranty for the Hot 10S. This is done via integration with the preinstalled CarlCare app. However, it requires you to go to a customer service center that is only located in select countries.
So repairs for this phone might prove difficult unless you're in the target demographic areas of Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Should You Buy the Infinix Hot 10S NFC?
When considering whether to purchase the Infinix Hot 10S NFC, keep in mind that you’ll need to know the current status of its availability in your area plus keep in mind how its warranty functions. With that said, it is a very impressively specced phone that offers a lot for under $200, even if it's not all perfect.
If you want to get into mobile gaming without spending a lot, while having a really responsive phone to support that, consider the Infinix Hot 10S NFC.

The iOS 14 is here. It is available for beta users in July. So when you do get to install it, your iPhone is going to look totally the same and it’s gotta look the same. there are widgets that you can put right on your home screen and there is this app drawer. They call it an app library thing but it’s also different. They’re not just trapped in this vertically scrolling today view that you have right now. I still have the today view actually but now you can put them anywhere, you can intersperse them with your icons and your folders. So it’s just like Android, except not really for a couple of reasons. The first reason is, I just think these widgets look better than Android widgets and widgets they’re not that well supported. And I don’t know, I just have a sense that these are all gonna just be a little bit nicer on the iPhone. The other reason I do think it’s like Android is because it’s more like Windows Phone.
All of these widgets basically come in three different sizes, small, medium, and large. They all sort of fit into rectangles or squares which means that they fit into a grid that feels a lot more like a lifestyle home screen Windows Phone than an android home screen does. Okay, so widgets how do you use them? Well, it’s pretty simple. You can long-press on them on the today view and then drag them out to where you wanna put them on the home screen and then you can put them anywhere you want on your home screen. You can’t just put an icon on the bottom of your Home screen like you can on Android because Apple apparently hates people having their icons or they can reach them more easily with their thumb or, but hates people seeing you know their wallpapers. I don’t get it. Anyway, there’s one other way to get at widgets and that’s actually the more fun way and that’s to go into the jiggly mode. So we should talk about jiggly mode for just a second. You long-press anywhere in the home screen to get into the jiggly mode. Because Apple called it jiggly mode in the keynote and when you’re in a jiggly mode, you get the minus buttons as usual, and I’ll get to those in seconds but you also can tap this little plus button in the upper left-hand corner to get to the gallery of widgets.
#gallery-0-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
You can search for them, you can tap on an app to see the available sizes for that apps, widgets and then you can grab one of them with a long press, drag it out and then you can move it anywhere you want, anywhere you want on your home screen. But jiggly mode actually has one new really interesting feature that I wanna get to really quick. If you tap on the dots that present all your different pages on your iPhone, it opens up a view of all of your pages on one screen and you can turn them on and off so you can uncheck them and then they aren’t there scrolling on your iPhone or you can go back into jiggling mode, go back into those pages and turn them on. So in theory, you could have a page that’s like, specifically for work and you turn it on when you’re at work and then you uncheck it to turn it off for the weekend so you don’t get out there when you’re scrolling through your iPhone. You can do the same thing with the social media apps if you’re afraid you’re gonna look at them too often. It’s really, really clever. The other thing I love about Apple’s widgets is you can stack them. You can have them all in a stack and swipe through them with your thumb to get to the one that you want. Now, this does mean that developers have to redo their widgets so the old widgets that you currently have in your today view won’t automatically work on the home screen
And that is for battery life actually but it also brings up an interesting feature with these stacks. There’s a smart stack so when the App Makerremakes their widget, they’re able to put a timeline on it that says, well, you should update my app at 4:25, there’s a storm coming and it’s really, really important and so that smart stack will look at all the widgets in the stack and see which one thinks it’s most important and then floats that one to the top which is really clever. I hope nobody abuses the priority things, we’ll see. So that’s widgets but to me, the bigger chance for the iPhone is this thing called the app library. There’s the home screen where all you know, you rearrange all your apps and put them in folders and put widgets there and whatever. And then Android also has the app drawer which is usually just an alphabetical listing of all of your apps and so Apple is now doing the same thing. They might instead be in the app library or in both places like Android. Now the app library the way Apple implemented it, it’s interesting. You can swipe down to get an alphabetical list of all of your apps if you just wanna find something that way or Apple puts them in these little categories and it figures out on its own.
So there are suggestions in the upper left and that is four apps that Apple thinks you might wanna launch and I don’t know, we’ll see how accurate that is, often it’s not. There’s a recently added box for all the apps that you’ve just installed and then the rest are just categories that Apple decided on. I think they’ve based online the store categories. I don’t love them. So for example, my WiFi utility app, eero is in the lifestyle category for some reason, the Apple Store is in the lifestyle category which I guess makes sense but the productivity category has my banking apps which I don’t love and you can’t actually customize any of this. And so it’s not so much that Apple stole this idea from Android as they kind of stole it from Samsung because Samsung has an app store but they kind of try and customize it for you with all these little categories and it’s just a little bit too confusing. We’ll see how this goes. I think that eventually, you’ll learn where your stuff is and if you can’t remember where your stuff is, well guess what, you can put it on your home screen. The interface is also interesting because it shows three big icons and then for little icons and they do different things depending on if you tap on it, if you just tap on one of the big icons, it doesn’t open a folder like opens the whole app which is like surprising. If you tap on the little icons, you get a listing of everything inside that category but there’s no obvious way to get out of it.
You have to know to sort of tap on a blank space on the screen or swipe up to go back just like going home. So the app library is fascinating to me because it is the first real-time that Apple has added real complexity to the iPhone home screen. The third application is this thing called App Clips and these are just like instant apps on Android. They’re little baby versions of an app that you don’t technically like go through the full Apple Store install process. You can install just a little baby version of the app on the fly when you need it and then it sits there inside your app library, the little dotted line around it and eventually goes away or if you want the full version of the app, you can tap on the app clip and then you can install full version app from the App Store.
The idea behind it is actually really clever. Sometimes you can do a thing that only an app can do but you just don’t want the whole damn app sitting there on your phone forever. So a good example of this is if you’re renting a smart scooter or paying for parking, I don’t know I go to a random city, they have their own custom parking app. I don’t, I’m gonna, I don’t want that app. I’m gonna delete it. I’m gonna forget to delete it. I’m gonna be annoyed and might track me and I don’t know. Just having an app clip for that thing is really smart but I don’t know how much use this thing is actually going to get because if you think about it, you’ve got webpages for stuff that you just wanna look at and you want to go away pretty much right away and you got apps for things that you wanna be permanent and App Clips live in the middle for things that can do things that webpages can but you don’t want them to stick around like full apps and I just don’t know how many things live in that the middle zone like parking meters, renting scooters, maybe you know paying for like certain things or like a, I don’t know, amusement park app or something but really that’s about it.
You can install them using QR codes or NFC codes or maybe it’ll be some custom URLs but we’ll have to see just how much developers really adopt this kind of thing because on Android it’s sort of been seen that many of them. Alright, so let’s review the ways that I think Apple has made the iPhone home screen more complicated in iOS 14. There are widgets that you can put anywhere on the home screen and you can scroll through them into little stacks that might algorithmically try and figure out which one should go at the top at any given moment. There’s the new jiggly mode which lets you go to the app pages view and turn app pages on or off if you don’t wanna have to see them at a certain time of day or whatever. There’s the app library which means that your apps are potentially two different places, the home screen or the app library and your home screen folders in your app library folders work a little bit differently and last but not least there are App Clips which is a whole new kind of app and you need to know what that means or what the dotted line around an icon means. And those apps might go away in 30 days if you don’t use them. Oh, and there’s actually one more complication.
There’s now a setting for the home screen where you can go in and decide whether app badges show up in the app library and whether new apps show up on your home screen. So that’s a lot of complication and it probably sounds like I’m complaining about all that complication but I’m actually not and don’t get me wrong, I can complain about complications on Apple’s platforms. I think that Apple has made the iPad way too complicated when it comes to selecting text or knowing what’s going on when there are multiple windows especially multiple windows from the same app. But on the iPhone, it’s different and that’s because the defaults on the iPhone are not complicated. You don’t have to learn any of this stuff, the widgets, jiggly mode, even the app library you could ignore even though it’s over there. The defaults are still the classic that you’re used to and you can just keep using your iPhone in the same old way that you always have. So Apple makes you understand the new iPad OS interface. They’ve made it more complicated. With the iPhone, Apple lets it get complicated. I think it’s also great that you don’t have to. Everybody.
IOS 14 Beta announced The iOS 14 is here. It is available for beta users in July. So when you do get to install it, your iPhone is going to look totally the same and it's gotta look the same.

The Fairphone 3 is an Affordable, Ethical, Sustainable Must-Have
Our verdict of the Fairphone 3: The Fairphone 3 is a great all-round, affordable Android smartphone. Although, it's the company's ethical and environmental credentials that make this phone worth the investment. 810
It’s no secret that smartphone production is not an ethical or sustainable industry. From the workers who mine the materials, all the way through to the factory line staff, modern electronics manufacturing is rife with issues.
As a conscientious consumer, you may have been looking for a better option, but found yourself lost in a sea of marketing and unproven claims. However, there is an alternative out there.
Environmentally and ethically-minded manufacturer Fairphone has been making devices since 2013, and recently launched the latest iteration of their flagship smartphone, the Fairphone 3.

Design
Most smartphones come in a rectangular package, roughly the size of the palm of your hand. The display dominates the front of the device. In this respect, the Fairphone 3 is no different.
At first glance, the unassuming device looks much like any other mid-range phone. However, look a little closer, and the unique details begin to show.
Front
The front of the Fairphone 3 is covered edge-to-edge by the display, aside from small segments at the top and bottom. The top of the phone houses the speaker and front-facing camera, while the bottom displays the Fairphone logo. The speaker seems unusually prominent, and that’s intentional.
This smartphone is designed to be easily repairable, so many standard components are replaceable with minimal effort, and can even be purchased from Fairphone’s website. This is part of the company’s commitment to environmental concerns. Many people upgrade their phones when they become damaged—like a broken speaker or damaged charging port—as the cost of repairing them isn’t economical.
Fairphone devices are designed to last, and the company eschews annual upgrades and releases. In fact, four years separated the release of the Fairphone 2 and Fairphone 3. Being able to service your device not only increases its lifespan but also keeps costs down, too. In keeping with this ethic, it is possible to pop-off the back of the phone to access the battery compartment and the SIM card and SD card slots.
Rear
The back is the device isn’t colored, with Fairphone opting for a translucent effect, allowing you to see an outline of the electronic components below. The 12MP camera is located on the upper left, while the fingerprint reader is slightly lower in the middle of the phone.
The placement of the fingerprint reader is a little awkward, as it’s too high up the back of the phone for your finger to land on it comfortably. Unlike many of their peers, Fairphone hasn’t removed the 3.5mm headphone jack, which can be found on the top of the phone.
On the underside, there is a single USB-C charging port. You’ll also find all the device’s buttons on the left-hand side, including options for volume up, volume down, and power.
Operating System and Software
The Fairphone 3, like the company’s previous models, runs Google’s Android operating system. While some manufacturers layer their own software atop Google’s platform, Fairphone uses stock Android in their smartphones. The device ships with Android 9.0 Pie pre-installed, which was released in 2018. Google follows an annual upgrade schedule, so in 2020 Android will be again updated to Android 11.
There was a time when OS updates used to be feature-heavy releases, but these days most updates are relatively minor. Android 9 supports many of the same everyday apps and services that you’d expect from your smartphone. But it is worth considering if you feel like this would be an important factor to you, especially if you intend to keep the Fairphone 3 for around four years.
The Fairphone 2 supported two operating systems; Android and Fairphone OS, the company’s open-source Android platform. Android, as most of us know it, is heavily focused on Google services, with this software deeply embedded into the OS. However, Android is actually open-source software, allowing anyone to customize their own variations. Fairphone OS was designed to provide a Google-free Android experience for the Fairphone 2.
Unfortunately, Fairphone OS is not currently available for the Fairphone 3, although it may be an option in the future. That the company is committed to a Google-free Android experience is evidence of their ethical stance. Google, as the world’s largest ad-provider, comes with many ethical and privacy-related problems. Generally speaking, those who care about repairability, ethical consumerism, and environmental impact are likely to embrace ways to minimize Google’s presence in their lives.
Fairphone 3 Performance
While ethics and environmentalism are crucial considerations, so, too, is the performance of the Fairphone 3. After all, you wouldn’t want to be lumbered with a sub-par device for the next few years. Fortunately, that won’t be the case if you opt for this smartphone.
As is to be expected for a phone at this price point, you won’t get flagship-level performance. However, unless you produce professional video or photo content with your smartphone, or hope to play the latest mobile games, the Fairphone 3 will be more than enough for most other uses.
Compared to similarly priced alternatives, the camera is lacking. In theory, the Fairphone 3 has a similar sensor to the Google Pixel 3a. However, it is the power of Google’s software that polishes average snaps into something worthy of your favorite social network. There’s nothing wrong with the Fairphone 3 camera, but it’s not spectacular either. This will become more evident over the phone’s lifetime, too.
If you’re transitioning from a flagship device from the past few years, the Fairphone 3 will feel slow. There is a slight lag when opening or switching between applications. It’s not enough to be annoying, but you’ll notice it all the same.
That said, the point of the Fairphone 3 isn’t necessarily to make the highest-performing device; it’s about rethinking how we approach electronics. Although it would be easy to dismiss the phone when comparing it against other recently-released smartphones, that would be to miss the Fairphone’s difference. This isn’t an excuse, either, but is the reality of choosing an ethical smartphone.
Fairphone 3 Battery Life
Given the specifications of this phone, I wasn’t expecting much when it came to battery life, either. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it lasted about a week in standby—powered on, with apps running in the background, but no regular use—and easily made it through a day’s worth of regular use. The Fairphone 3 doesn’t come with a charger in the box.
As the phone uses the now-common USB-C charging port, it’s likely you already have a suitable charger. If not, they are easily found in most retailers. This decision reduces the amount of e-waste generated by the Fairphone 3. Most of us also carry portable chargers around, too, reducing the need for a wall socket charger. As you can easily access and remove the battery, you could also keep a charged spare with you to swap out as needed.
Ethical Considerations
Apple, generally regarded as the most principled of all the large tech companies, uses a company called Foxconn to manufacture their iPhones. Since 2010, there have been ongoing worker welfare issues in these factories, and in some cases, becoming a contributing factor in several suicides.
Apple is certainly not alone, of course: Doro, Google, HMD Global (Nokia), HTC, Samsung, Sony, TCL, and ZTE have all received Ethical Consumer’s worst rating for supply chain management. In the same rankings, Fairphone was the only company to be awarded the best rating.
It’s a similar story for toxic chemical management. However, in this category, Fairphone received the worst rating as they failed to provide relevant information to Ethical Consumer. Their last known award, in 2016, was a middle rating. The fact that Fairphone, a company striving to produce the most ethical and environmentally-friendly devices, achieved merely a middle rating, shows how complex this area is.
In the EU alone, there are over 211 million new smartphones sold each year. In a 2019 Coolproducts study, it was estimated that Europe’s phones had an annual climate impact of 14.12 million tonnes of CO2, with 72 percent of that attributable to production and disposal. That tremendous impact is fueled by the tech industry, who market the slightest improvements as revolutionary, must-have new features.
The Fairphone 3’s Ethical Credentials
The Fairphone is a reaction against that industry. It is an alternative for those who don’t want to give up smartphones, but take issue with the way manufacturers run roughshod over the planet. The phone is easily repairable—there’s even a screwdriver included in the box—and if the past two Fairphones are an indication, it will be supported for years to come. That’s not to say that this is a 100 percent ethical and environmental phone.
Given the complexity of modern manufacturing, it would be unrealistic to expect this phone to achieve all of those goals. However, the past seven years have seen the company steadily improve their credentials and make significant inroads towards a better future. It’s also important to remember this isn’t a zero-sum game; some progress is better than none at all.
For example, the company found they weren’t able to identify the source of the gold used by many components manufacturers. Instead of abandoning their position, they now buy “fairtrade” gold and sell it on exchanges to compensate for the lack of traceability, acting almost like a carbon offset, but for gold.
Should You Buy the Fairphone 3?
Ultimately, the Fairphone 3 is a decent phone. But it’s the company’s ethical and environmental credentials which are its key selling points. It’s not an easy phone to compare against the competition, either. It lacks some of the specifications of the latest phones and even runs an older variant of Android.
However, it is easily the most repairable phone around, with iFixit rating it a perfect 10 out of 10. Fairphone’s commitment towards fairer worker rights, improved supply chain management, reduction of electronic waste, product longevity, and carbon impact are a significant part of the reason you’d buy the Fairphone 3. It may not be the fanciest phone around, but it doesn’t need to be.
This is a phone you’ll be able to keep for years, and can even repair yourself. As awareness grows of the impact humans have on the planet, the best choice you can make is obvious; the Fairphone 3.

There’s Finally a Decent Smartwatch for Android
IIswitched from an iPhone to the Google Pixel 2 a few years ago after thinking about the move for a long time. My Apple Watch had held me back. The watch is an expensive device, but it would be rendered a paperweight if I used a Pixel full time, because Apple doesn’t allow it to work with Android phones. There were few alternative watches that would work with my Pixel — or at least few that seemed at all appealing.
Ultimately, I still decided to change over to a Pixel, which had become compelling enough despite the lack of Apple Watch support, and gave up wearing a smartwatch altogether.
But now I’ve finally found a smartwatch I’m willing to wear again, from an unexpected source: Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Active2. Awful naming aside, it’s one of the strongest competitors to the Apple Watch I’ve seen.
Companies like Fossil and Misfit make wearables that run Google’s Wear OS, while FitBit and Withings churn out smartwatches focused on fitness or aesthetics. For the most part, smartwatches like the TicWatch look decent online, but are thick and chunky to wear in real life. They feel more like knock-off spy watches than accessories. Worse still, Wear OS devices are notorious for poor battery life and aren’t likely to get updates for the long haul — manufacturers don’t make money from keeping the software up to date, so they simply ignore it.
Samsung’s Active2, though, works with any device, looks great, and can make it almost two days on a single charge (not bad, given Apple targets 18 hours of battery life with its Series 5 watch).
What’s most surprising about the Active2 is an attention to detail that’s rare.
The difference starts with its appearance. I have wanted a circular smartwatch ever since the Moto 360 debuted and ultimately disappointed back in 2014; the shape looks natural for a watch. The Samsung’s Active2 is also slim enough to hide under a shirt or sweater, and small enough that it doesn’t seem like a smartwatch at all. The always-on display, especially with circular analog watch faces, helps it blend in even better.
What’s most surprising about the Active2 is an attention to detail that’s rare. The edges of its round display, for instance, can be used as a way to scroll through the UI—dragging your finger around the edge to the right scrolls down, and to the left scrolls up. While the bezel doesn’t physically move as it does in previous generations of Samsung smartwatches, it understands touch, and it’s more intuitive as a way to interact with a watch.
Many of the watch’s other features take advantage of the round display. The “My Day” watch face, for example, places reminders of the day’s meetings around the edges of the display, which is a helpful way to see what’s coming up for the entire day without jumping into an app.
Though not specifically targeted at fitness tracking like some of its competitors, the Active2 delivers on health features as well. While many watches require you to manually specify when a workout has begun, the Active2 automatically logs workouts, so that you don’t need to explicitly indicate you’re out for a run or cycle. After 10 minutes of activity, a little vibration notifies you the workout has started — which is so much better than fidgeting around with menus to get a workout kicked off.
Active2 has other thoughtful fitness prompts, clearly inspired by the Apple Watch, like a “heart” that fills up (similar to the Apple Watch’s rings) as you exercise and go about your day. But the Active2’s prompts go even further than Apple Watch’s prompts: Rather than pushing you to simply stand up hourly, the Active2 detects and shows inactivity, prompting a short walk or stretch.
I tested the Bluetooth version of the Active2, but I’m thinking of returning it for a refund so I can buy the LTE version, which would allow me to stream music, as well as get calls and notifications on the go.
What I most want from my smartwatch is the option to leave my phone at home entirely while I go for a run or cycle — or even just to escape scrolling through social media for a while — and Samsung might be the first brand to truly pull it off. The Apple Watch only allows Apple Music to sync offline. With the Active2, you can sync the device to Bluetooth headphones directly and use a Spotify integration to play play music offline while still doing GPS tracking on a run with the Strava watch app, finally free of wires.
I had worried that the Active2’s battery life wouldn’t be good enough. For the last two years, I’ve worn a Withings Steel HR, which only needs charging once every month. The Apple Watch I wore before that needed to be charged much more frequently — about once every two days — and I rarely remembered to charge it before the battery died.
Despite my fears, I was delighted by the Bluetooth Active2: Every night after a full day’s use — including workout tracking — I dropped it onto the magnetic charger with a solid 60% of battery life leftover.
Samsung didn’t get everything right with the Active2. One of the biggest pain points is its app store. Samsung has its own entire ecosystem of apps, if you’re noton a Samsung phone like the Note 10, you need to install three separate apps to even get started with the watch. That’s notincluding the Samsung Health app, which you’ll also need if you want health data on your phone andthe third-party syncing app for Google Fit if you want your data in there instead of Samsung’s silo.
Unlike the Apple Watch, Active2 allows third-party watch faces, but almost all of them are terrible. And its app store does a terrible job of showcasing watch faces that aren’t hideous. Instead, it shows a giant list of poor quality designs before you eventually find a good one buried at the bottom. That’s a shame, really, because the included watch faces are really good— they show off interesting ways to take advantage of the display, and I found myself wanting even more.
The Active2 has other minor quirks, like coming with always-on display disabled by default and burying the setting to turn it on yourself deep in a menu. Samsung did the same with the setting for the bezel-scrolling feature, which is also disabled out of the box.
Then there’s Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant. Settings need to be disabled in multiple places to avoid accidentally triggering it on the watch. And Samsung wouldn’t let me use a different, more capable assistant, like Alexa or Google Assistant. I found myself even wishing Siriwas on this watch, something that I’ve never wanted any other time in the past — Bixby is that bad.
But, amongst all of these quirks and annoyances, the Active2 is surprisingly delightful. It delivers a good smartwatch alternative for anyone who is notdeeply invested in the Apple ecosystem (it works with an iPhone too, but has limited functionality due to Apple restrictions), at a fraction of the price — and with great aesthetics on top. I went in with low expectations, but was delighted to find myself enjoying wearing a smartwatch again.
If you’re in the market for a watch that isn’tthe Apple Watch, the Galaxy Active2 is what you should get. Samsung has delivered something for everyone, and the quality is at the level you’d actually wantto wear on your wrist, rather than hide it up to your sleeve.

iPhone XS UNBOXING nReview
Yesterday when I was out with my daughter to walk in the snowfall and soak up all the winter, snow and cold in Vancouver downtown we could. And yes! off course to take some pictures, to make some videos and then I realized  my phone is switching off often and I thought damn what's the problem in my phone and as soon as I came back I googled why it happened and I got to know that "This is not a flaw with Apple products. This happens with any lithium-ion battery-powered device. Apple designed the iPhone to turn off under extreme conditions, such as very cold or very hot weather. This actually helps protect your iPhone from malfunctioning as a result of low voltage from the battery. Apple recommends that you only use your iPhone (and other iOS devices) when the temperature is between 32-95 degrees Fahrenheit to avoid temperature-related issues." That time I got the butterfly in my stomach and I was so proud that I have an iPhone now. Absolute thanks to my husband Nimish (https://bit.ly/2WPxUdB) for that.
Alright, Folks so it has been more than 30 days when had brought this new family member iPhone XS in our lives for the first time. Remember I told everywhere on my Instagram (http://bit.ly/2r1qAzL) and Facebook (http://bit.ly/2DrpqQq) and my recent YouTube videos too that I am going to do an unboxing video as well as the review? Guess what, here I am with it. let me tell you iPhone XS do deserve my time and effort to tell the people everything I know about it through my YouTube channel (https://goo.gl/2zQsdp) and my website in detail. Now let's Start, shall we??
So our baby iPhone XS is Silver in color and 256GB phone and came with earpods with a lightning connector, Lightning to USB cable and USB power adapter.
Some basic features which I absolutely love are
1. Face Id: That means your phone recognizes your face to unlock, authorize Apple Pay payments, and perform other tasks.
2. Control Center: Swipe down from the upper right corner to quickly take a photo, turn on room lights, control music, Portrait orientation lock, WiFi, mobile data, torch and more.
3. Home: Swipe up to go home.
4. The left side of the body has 2 buttons and 1 Switch. Top Ring/Silent Switch to choose either of it. 2 buttons to adjust audio volume.
5. Tap to Wake: You can tap anywhere on the screen to wake your iPhone.
6. 3D Touch: You can access menus, shortcuts, and content by pressing the screen with 3D touch
7. The right side of the body has 1 button which has 3 functions. A) press once to sleep or wake. B) Press twice to activate Apple Pay. C) Press and hold to turn on iPhone or activate Siri.
8. In Emergency: Press and hold the side button and either of the volume button to turn off the iPhone or make an Emergency call.
Let's move towards Specifications to know and love iPhone XS more
Display size, resolution  5.8-inch Super Retina OLED; 2,436×1,125 pixels Pixel density 458 ppi Dimensions (millimeters) 143.6×70.9×7.7 mm Weight (ounces, grams) 6.24 oz; 177 g Mobile software iOS 12 Camera Dual 12-megapixel
Front-facing camera
7-megapixel with Face ID Video capture 4k Processor Apple A12 Bionic Storage 64GB, 256GB, 512GB Fingerprint sensor None (Face ID) Connector Lightning Special features Water-resistant (IP68), dual-SIM capabilities (nano-SIM and e-SIM), wireless charging, Face ID, Memoji Price off-contract (USD) $999 (64GB), $1,149 (256GB), $1,349 (512GB)
  Display
In case if you are wondering what the Retina oled in the World is than Retina display is a brand name used by Apple for its series of IPS LCD, and OLED displays that have a higher pixel density than traditional Apple displays. The goal of Retina displays is to make the display of text and images extremely crisp, so pixels are not visible to the naked eye.
  Camera, Picture, and Video
Trust me or not most of us when we see specification or just go through any new mobile phone we check camera quality first. At least I do it. If you agree on it then comment down below "Yes I do", it will be really fun to see all those comments. Okay so I am showing all the videos I filmed and pictures I took in iPhone XS and with that let me explain the specification which I also did not know and that is the 4K resolution, also called 4K, refers to a horizontal display resolution of approximately 4,000 pixels. Digital television and digital cinematography commonly use several different 4K resolutions. So I hope now you also know it.
You guys might have seen some of my recent videos on my YouTube channel (https://goo.gl/2zQsdp ) like Day In The LIfe – CANADA LIFE Video (https://youtu.be/WWYnNNaPllA) and right now also you are seeing my iPhone camera videos and pictures only. Let me tell you I am literally obsessed with it. But Why I am obsessed with the iPhone XS camera? here are the reasons
The cameras are better, especially in low light, and the new Depth Control for portraits works really really well as well.
Slow Motion video quality though Oh my goodness you can take screenshots from slow-motion video and edit it a little bit and trust me you will have some really good captures ever.
Portrait mode though, my goodness iPhone XS has nailed in this quality. It is great in close-up photos and especially I love how it takes photos with real good espouser and the way it captures yellow in the back wahoo I love it.
It definitely delivers more detail of the picture.
Speaker and Microphone
Sound Sound Sound… Okay, when you will turn the audio ON in iPhone you will definitely avoid connecting it to earpods or any other Bluetooth speakers because they are surprisingly very amazing. Audio in iPhone XS is sweeter stereo, Apple says it widened the stereo sound to deliver more detail. Yes! you are going to love it too.
You won't believe I am loving this audio quality of my YouTube videos to the extent that I am wondering whether I will switch to my canon rebel t6 again or not. Let's have a comparison in sound quality of SAMSUNG galaxy and iPhone XS. Cum on the galaxy is a high-end smartphone and we expect something really similar. so let's see.
Battery Life
If you know me a little bit from YouTube or Social Media I am not a big fan of spending hours and hours behind the phone and playing games. Trust me I use to when I was not a mom. So if you are a person who for any reason does not spend HOURS on phone you will be very with battery life too. For me I charge once in every 24 hours, mostly I put it in charge when I go to bed every night. 100% battery charging lasts for more than 24 hrs. for me, I am not joking.
Conclusion
So in the bottom line, I would say the iPhone XS is one of the Best phone and deal in the price range it is coming for sure. If you are the among those people who are either thinking of purchasing iPhone for the first time in the life "Just like I did" or still holding off on upgrading your iPhone 7 or iPhone 6s, do not think twice for spending on iPhone XS. Also, the cameras are miles better especially in low light.
In between iPhone XS and iPhone XS MAX, I would definitely recommend MAX because of screen size which is 6.5 inches if you can afford and hold in one hand obviously. But for me, I preferred the iPhone XS because I wanted a one-handed friendly one.
That's it all for today's review. I want you to write to me in the comment box  "Which iPhone or Smartphone do you own"? If you buy iPhone XS or iPhone XS MAX take a picture and please tag me on Instagram( http://bit.ly/2r1qAzL) and Facebook (http://http://bit.ly/2DrpqQq) I would love to repost it. Give this video like and share it with your friends.
Thanks for sticking here till the end. Until next time XOXO

Point And Shoot Digital camera Compact Digital camera
Canon's full-frame 6D Mark II is a strong upgrade with a catch. I strongly believe that each traveler ought to think about complementing their tools with one of many many premium compact models available. WHY IT IS A TOP CHOOSE: Amazingly sharp photos and movies, especially versus different fixed lens cameras. We have been excited to get our hands on the Panasonic GH5 Ever since it was introduced with 4K 60p video, we have been chomping on the bit to get it moist. Designed for use on-the-go, point and shoot cameras are constructed sturdy and resilient. If I've one criticism - it is a minor one - it is very easy to bump the dial on high of it to a different setting so I had to actually watch out of that one as I ruined a bunch of photographs in shutter priority mode. This deal matches the bottom value we have seen on this Sony digital digital camera. Having only 7.three ounces (i.e. 206 grammes) G9 X Mark II is full of surprises which might make your photography process not only handy thanks to its measurement but additionally extremely professional. Apple followers itching for extra of a recreation changer should sit tight till September; this factor was by no means meant for you. A compact digital camera that's lightweight and simple to make use of won't gradual you down or steal focus (no pun supposed) when need to want to capture a second quickly and candidly. Let's check out the evolution of the GX PowerShot line. I like having wi-fi on my dSLR because it allows me to wirelessly transfer my pictures to my iPhone to edit, then to social media as quickly as I've taken them, so I respect the inclusion of wi-fi on more and more compact cameras too. That makes it great for low-light taking pictures, in addition to making it easier to take images with a blurred background for knowledgeable look. It falls down in a key area, nonetheless, providing just 1080p video resolution reasonably than the 4K you'd anticipate in a contemporary DSLR. Because of the mounted apertures, fashions with flash haven't any way of controlling the exposure from the flash. However, contemplating all the most recent options and different attributes, we've got jotted down the checklist of best point and shoot cameras of 2017, which you may select from. A 30X optical zoom lens offers the Canon SX710 HS loads of versatility amongst compact cameras. Fujifilm XT20 has some body changes, specifically a three.zero-inch touchscreen. But, you'll want to handle just a few things and make just a few changes to get that image quality. Best macro functionality in the Superior Compact class. Accent add-ons embody an optical viewfinder, exterior mic and a secondary flash (a smaller pop-up mannequin is constructed-in, and retracts when not in use). Nevertheless, the sacrifice in a superior picture and video quality makes it a tough promote for best point and shoot camera customers looking for out a brand new major digital camera. Sony's RX10 collection has been a high performer since it first appeared just a few years in the past, with the latest iteration proving to be the most effective but. When contemplating the acquisition of either a DSLR or level-and-shoot digital camera, it is very important research producers and models, to get an concept of which cameras would supply probably the most rewards within your worth range. When you already use an Samsung Android smart telephone, the Samsung Galaxy Digital camera 2 would little doubt have a very short studying curve. The Olympus TG-5 is hands down the most effective camera we now have seen for tremendous macro shooting. At , you will get instantaneous access to a variety of digital cameras from properly-trusted brands like Canon , Nikon , Panasonic, Fuji Film, and many more. This being Panasonic, 4K video and 4K photograph modes are included with the LX15 - each of that are appealing to a wide range of people. There's so much to like about the latest iteration of the Canon Powershot. The 5D MkII shows up on Apple's iMovie compatibility list, although oddly not the 7D; still, for those who're even contemplating getting an SLR for video use, save a few dollars for FCP X too. If you wish to kick things up a notch, you can use the remote capturing feature. Sony's famous for point and shoot camera reviews dragging its toes in relation to getting customers onto the latest and biggest version of Android. Neither the Sony RX100 V or Canon G7 X II can do each of these tasks. For many who can see crucial concentrate on a display or optical viewfinder very properly, it is a must for macro shooting. We particularly looked at models under the $1,000 mark, since models priced above that are usually specialist units, past the perfect for most people” focus we take. One other great feature is the 10fps speedy fire shot functionality of the Panasonic. Because of this we additionally included runners up on this overview in addition to our high choose. But with no 4K 60p video and horrible ambient gentle white stability, we will not suggest it for serious video shooters. You possibly can simply match these cameras all over the place you want, even in your pocket. Certainly, many of the cameras here have sensors which are a lot bigger making them ideally suited for low gentle images. And one of the best thing about these cameras is that they are very pocket-friendly, even in comparison to loads of smartphones. Canon's PowerShot A1100 IS is available in at around $190 at most on-line retailers, and for $10 more than the Kodak you get a number of extra megapixels, a much less highly effective zoom, and a barely wider aperture. Especially when working at most resolution, many users have observed that there are some serious delays in shutter restoration time. The PowerShot N is ready to ship in April for $300, and can be out there in both black and white. Leica Q has a full-frame 24-megapixel CMOS sensor and Maestro II processor. Clients in government, healthcare, manufacturing, education and a wide variety of business enterprises, massive and small, rely upon integrated options from Panasonic to assist them acquire, handle and interpret the knowledge that drives innovation. The ShippingPass subscription can be purchased with all main credit score and debit playing cards. This is usually used as a selling level, however do not be sold on megapixels (MP) alone. The Z3C's countless battery life is actually something to behold, and in contrast with competing handsets of a similar size, it is reasonably priced, to boot. I really like the addition of Wi-Fi and NFC which allows you to switch images to your good gadget to add to social media in seconds. Price: $349.00 Read Full Assessment: Olympus TG4 Review Optical Zoom: 4X Decision: sixteen MP. RX100 V presents 4K extremely-excessive definition recording at up to 30 fps with an option of gradual-motion video. The purpose is that it does not provide 4K video, although 1080p video at up to 60 fps is obtainable. This explicit model options the DC Vario-Summilux lens, which masterfully handles broad angled landscapes and up-close portraiture alike. You may discover a 3-inch LCD screen with touch capabilities on this digital camera, too, making it easier to make use of for inexperienced photographers than cameras with out touchscreens. What's more, you may get NFC, WiFi and 1080p recording at 24, 25 and 30 fps, while the max ISO vary is set at 6,400 and 12,800 for video and photos, respectively. Positive, we've run into a couple of duds , but the previous couple of years have brought a slew of fashions that exceeded our already lofty expectations, with Sony usually main the pack.

The Many Ways Of Accepting Payment For Your Music and Merch [HOW TO]
For DIY artists looking to monetize their creations, either through music, merch, or something else altogether, there are now more ways than ever to make it fast and easy to sell to your fans with just a single click. Here we walk through the many ways of making it happen.

Here’s the best case scenario for every artist: someone finds your music and falls in love with it, and they decide to support your project in some way. They want to buy some tracks or a full album. Or if they catch your live show, grab a t-shirt or other merch after your set. The worst thing that you could do in this situation? Making it hard for them to pay you.
The good news is that new ways to pay for physical or digital goods are popping up seemingly every day. And with them, many more options for the types of payments you can accept. The support of your fans is now a tap, swipe, or click away.
If you’ve never attempted to set up anything online or at your merch table outside of making sure you have enough change on hand to break a $20 bill, this article is here to help gently guide you into the process.
Accepting payment via the web
PayPal is, at this point, the default for most folks looking to accept payments online. Most often that comes from personal accounts where people can log in and pay using a PayPal balance or using stored credit card or bank information. For folks without an account, they can simply enter in their credit card information
Another great option is Stripe, but customers don’t have to set up a Stripe account like they do with PayPal. Stripe plugs into websites and apps, providing back-end credit card processing that is invisible to consumers except at the time they buy something from you online. With Stripe, people have to enter their credit-card information the first time they use it, but they can opt to link their payment information to a mobile phone and reuse it later at any site that relies on Stripe.
While PayPal and Stripe charge almost the same fees to accept payments, PayPal is often seen as more impersonal and sometimes hostile to merchants, freezing payments when a lot of money is collected at once—such as with an album release or a big event. Stripe has better and friendlier policies and customer support, and should be easier to work out the kinds of issues you’d face. The good news, though, is that you don’t have to pick between them. The CASH Music platform supports both PayPal and Stripe, and it makes sense for most purposes to accept both so that you don’t miss out on people who use their PayPal account balance to pay for things.
If you use Squarespace for Web hosting, you can connect Stripe there, too. On a plain Web site, you can also make a simple PayPal payment button that doesn’t require any programming, but you’ll have to handle sales manually. (There are many other payment processors, and different ecommerce and hosting sites may have relationships with them or let you use Stripe, too.)
The advantage with Stripe, however, is that you can also use it with Apple Pay, Apple’s smartphone-based payment system. Apple Pay launched in October 2014, and until October 2016 you could only use it for paying at a store’s point-of-sale terminal or for an in-app purchase on an iPhone (or via an Apple Watch).
But in October, Apple extended Apple Pay to work with its Safari browser in the latest operating systems for Mac and iPhone/iPad (macOS 10.12 Sierra and iOS 10). For people who have both Apple Pay set up and use Safari, when they go to pay on a Web site that uses Stripe, an Apple Pay button appears automatically. They can click or tap it, and then their associated iPhone or Watch lights up with information for them to approve. Much, much easier than entering credit card details.
Accepting payment by text, app, or person-to-person payment sites
Web sites are a great way to take payment directly, but there are other digital options that could be easier for some of your fans, and being set up to take them could result in retaining sales you might have lost from people who don’t want to pay on a Web site or don’t have a credit card or debit card.
Pay via Circle, Square Cash, Venmo, and others. Several companies have set up person-to-person payments systems that let you send small to large amounts of cash directly via their app. Many require that you set up a business account, in which every transaction has a fee that’s about the same as a credit-card payment. But these systems let people draw funds from a bank account or debit card at no cost and can be an alternative for many to credit cards. (See my in-depth article.)
Pay via P2P Web site. All of the sites above also let you use a Web site on a mobile or desktop browser to handle the transaction. You don’t have to have an app.
Pay via Apple’s iMessage. If you’ve got an iPhone or iPad running the latest operating system release, someone else with the same setup can “text” you money as an iMessage through Circle, PayPal, Square Cash, and Venmo. Accepting payment in person
I’m probably preaching to the choir here about accepting in-person payments, because anyone who performs in public and sells stuff themselves has already figured this out. But you might not be up to date with the latest.
Many artists I know long ago got a Square Reader, a dongle that plugs into an Apple or Android phone or tablet, and lets you swipe a credit card. PayPal makes a rather ugly versions of the same, offering up its Mobile Card Reader. The trick is that while the Square reader is free, PayPal charges $14.99 for its swiper (though you may find a better deal via retailers like Office Depot).
However, the latest and greatest Square scanner handles contactless payments from mobile devices, from an iPhone or Android phone, and accepts chip cards. The specialized reader for that costs $49 and also works with Apple and Android devices. Its full name is the Square Contactless and Chip Reader. (Check its list for phone and tablet compatibility; it’s much more restricted than the swiper.)
The price tag may seem high at $49, but people increasingly want to pay in a way that makes them feel more secure. The ease of tapping a phone reduces hassle, and both tapping and “dipping” a chip is safer overall, making people more comfortable with the purchase. The scanner has a built-in battery you can recharge through a standard USB cable, and Square also sells a charging dock for it. (You’re also protected against reversed charges or “chargebacks” if customers tap or dip if the card has a chip. If you swipe a chipped card, you’re responsible if there’s a dispute and you can’t prove the transaction involved the real cardholder.) PayPal offers much more complicated Chip Card Reader that also handles contactless payments and card swiping, and has a tiny screen, so the transaction can happen entirely on the device. But it costs a whopping $149 without any real advantage.
There’s one last low-tech/high-tech in-person payment method. If you’ve been reluctant to take personal checks, many banks and credit unions offer apps that let you deposit a check via a picture taken by a smartphone’s camera.
This option isn’t without issues. Snapping a check on the spot doesn’t verify whether the person has enough money in their account to cover it. Nor does it ensure the check isn’t forged, however unlikely that would be for someone buying your music or merchandise.
But it does have two benefits: first, it makes sure the check can be deposited correctly, and there’s nothing that will keep a bank from processing it, including the numbering information at the bottom that identifies the financial instituti on. Second, it clears more quickly: once you snap and deposit, the funds are available within a business day in most cases.
What you’ll need
Typically to get paid, all you’ll need is a checking account, although a few services also let you withdraw funds via a debit card account or even as a credit to a credit card. But make sure to read the fine print for any service you sign up for, because fees and timing may vary in cashing out the funds collected.
P2P services, like Venmo, tend to accumulate cash in an account, and have limits on how much and how frequently you can transfer funds out. But services will increase limits of all sorts if you provide them more information, such as your social security number’s last four digits and your date of birth, which further verifies your identity.
PayPal and Stripe don’t have a limit on how much you can accept, but do impose delays on withdrawals under certain circumstances, and may require you provide more documentation on your transactions if you’re charging hundreds of dollars a week and then suddenly bump up to thousands at once.
What this will cost you
The fees for transactions reflect a combination of the risk that a payment processor and credit network thinks it’s exposed to, the cost of overhead for handling moving money around, and a profit margin that’s impossible to know. But because there’s so much competition for small businesses (like yours!), fees and conditions started low and stayed there. That’s great news.
For most transactions, you pay about 3%, with an additional 30¢ if the transaction is not done in person. And that’s about it. There are no recurring fees and no rentals required, although as I explain above, you might have to pay for certain kinds of adapters or peripherals to accept cards and mobile payments.
So for an online $5 charge, you pay 45¢ of it: 3% of $5 is 15¢; add the 30¢ flat fee for a net of $4.55. This is rougher on small transactions, like someone buying a 99¢ track: you wind up paying about 33¢ (3¢ as a percentage plus the 30¢ flat fee) and keeping just 66¢.
For in-person charges where someone hands you a card, dips a chipped card into a slot, or taps to pay, the percentage is slightly better for you: 2.7 or 2.75% and there’s no flat fee added. For a $5 charge, you pay just 14¢, netting $4.86. You can also take phone orders and tap in a card with some of these systems designed for in-person use, but you pay a higher rate, because there’s more risk: it’s usually 3.5% plus 15¢.
For now, there’s no lower fee for dipped and tapped transactions, but that may change in the future.
Friction free
The fewer steps and the less typing and tapping, the more likely someone is to make a purchase or complete one in person. Take advantage of everything that’s out there so you’re not leaving fans who want your work and want to support you, but need more options through which to hand over the dough.

Specifications
Operating System: Android 9.0
CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 632
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 64GB, expandable
Battery: 3,000mAh
Display: 5.65-inch Full HD+ with Gorilla Glass 5
Camera: 12MP front, 8MP rear
Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, NFC, Dual SIM
Ports: 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C charging port
Price: €450 (currently available in the EU & UK only)
As awareness grows of the impact humans have on the planet, the best choice you can make is obvious; the Fairphone 3.

iPhone XS UNBOXING n Review | Specification And Features Explained
Pragya Gautam
