It's so hard having a genuinely abnormal family that makes most of your past and current experiences completely unrelatable to 98% of the general population
#I'm 24 years old and I'm still to this day hiding the fact that I listen to secular music from my family#because when I was a kid Baptists believed it was sinful to listen to music that wasn't gospel.#nowadays most baptists don't give a shit anymore but my family still follows the old ways.#so apparently my grandma told my mom every time she comes into my salon we have Fleetwood Mac playing#(this is true I do it purposefully when I know she's coming in bc it's funny to me)#but my mom confronted me about it and was like 'so do you listen to Fleetwood Mac???'#I been dodging around the question but it really just. idk. the weight of always hiding the most basic aspect of myself is so heavy#and it's like. if I'm just honest this could open a new path. this could be a way I help music come back to my family's lives#but it might also not. it might be an argument. it might be an ongoing argument. it might be something they always throw in my face.#it might be even more exhausting than carefully constructing my life around a dozen small lies.
