Day 3 – Lindsay to Hastings – 75 km
Mostly flat.
Another great ride on the TCT. A sunny warm day (mostly), pleasant scenery, and a wonderfully well maintained trail.
Last night I stayed with old friends Rudy & Wayne. It was nice to catch up and share a few laughs. I especially appreciated their hospitality and incredibly large meals.
The morning started at a coffee shop where I met a friend, Dave, whom had decided to join me on today’s segment. It was nice to have company.
We passed through Peterborough. The Peterborough Lift Lock on the Trent Severn Waterway is the highest in the world - worth seeing.
We travelled over Doube's Trestle Bridge, originally a train bridge built in 1883. From the bridge there are beautiful views of the river valley and drumlins formed in the ice age.
Dave and I rode together, talking about family and travel, for about 3 hours until we reached the town of Keene. There we met another friend, Rod, at a locally famous BBQ restaurant for an oversized lunch.
There can be obstacles even on a well maintained trail. Beavers do what they do and occasionally drop a tree on the trail. I also found the nearby beaver lodge. The trail presented a couple more obstacles, as well. In Lindsay, access to the trail was blocked by construction and in Hastings the trail bridge over the river was closed. Both required a minor detour to get back on the trail.
The last hour of the day, the wind changed to become a forceful head wind, the sky darkened, thunder and lighting started and then it rained. Sorry, understatement. It poured and it hailed. Within minutes the trail had a couple inches of water on it. It rained over my glasses and I could barely see the trail. I was very happy to finish my ride and get my wet clothes off.
The local trail names included: Rotary Greenway Trail, Omemee Rail Trail, and Jackson Creek Kiwanis Trail.

I am on a state of Omemee mind
I am on a state of Omemee mind
Sitting in my friend’s living room and writing at the same time
My thoughts on a piece of paper
I am on a state of Omeme mind
And I finally got a drive to the country after such a long time
That I am welcoming the country to my life once more
But I feel that my life is getting a special gift
That is the country because God made the country also

PSB Alpha iQ Review
Despite what he sang in his song Helpless (“there is a town in North Ontario, with dream comfort memory to spare…”), Neil Young’s home town of Omemee is very much in South Ontario. In fact, it’s less than 100km from PSB’s base in Pickering, which in Canadian terms is basically next door. Read our PSB Alpha iQ Review.

What is an uncontested divorce and how do you proceed with it?
An uncontested divorce is all about settlement and agreement that tends to benefit both parties. The lawyer works as a mediator between the parties, resolves the situation, and gives suggestions and inputs after studying the information and proposals provided by the parties. The main question that comes to the audience's mind is how do I get an uncontested divorce in Omemee? An uncontested divorce assists individuals facing relationship, child, or property issues. They act as mediators, listening to both parties and determining a resolution. Read More: https://qr.ae/prjTCG

Some days start out amazing .. incredible temps for middle of November. I had a tailwind all the way up to the top of the Ridge .. through Bethany to the Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden for a quick stop .. then on to Omemee. The first 70km was stunning, even with a pile of climbing. Then I turned West at Omemee and it went to hell in a handcart 😈😈 Actually, handcarts might move faster. I now had 20-30kph headwinds plus some monster hills to climb. It was so bad I had to pedal downhill just to keep moving. 🥴😵😵💫🤪🤬 @coachsandybatten joked before I left that I wouldn't be home until sunset (late start) ... she was wrong! 🙃🙃🙃 I was home an hour AFTER sunset 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Riding 70km into headwinds all the way sapped the strength from my legs .. I was toast when I got home. This 140km adventure felt like a 200+km ride. But I'm still smiling 😃.. some🤪🤣 Nice to see Jay and Bev in a random spot .. you never know where you'll run across me out there! #OrbeaBicycles #OrbeaOrca #Kohana #myridemyrules #destinationroad #shimano #garmin #4iii #visiontech #cyclelife #mycyclelife #bellbikehelmets #capturaphoto #captura #kawarthalakes #ontario #canada #outdoors #churchoftheskinnytire #strava #stravaphoto #dressforsuccess #dressforsurvival #setyoursoulfree #getoutdoors #freshairsaveslives #getoutside #greatcyclechallenge #gcccanada https://www.instagram.com/p/ClcxllrsCPq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
