more things to say about speech, actually. link has never been able to speak "properly" but also never felt like it was something lacking on his part in kokiri forest. for all that mido hassled and ridiculed him over the lack of a fairy, his voice wasn't something anyone seemed to think to touch. that was just link. that's just how he talks. when they can still understand him, what did it matter? link knows what it is to be listened to — and to suddenly not be. to suddenly not want to be, if only so any judgement and condescension will be left out too
