Favourite K-Pop Releases November 2022
1. Fifty Fifty: Lovin' Me
Title: Okay yes, I know that this is cheating and that Higher is the actual title track and debut, but I just enjoyed Lovin' Me a lot more, so pretend with me. I had never heard of Fifty Fifty before and therefore wasn't expecting anything, and this song just blew me away. It's a beautiful mix of sad and hopeful, listening to it always makes me emotional.
Album: I enjoy all song on the album, the stand-out b-side for me is Log in; it sounds like the kind of experimental music certain other groups are trying but failing at. All in all a very solid debut, and I'm looking forward to what they will do next.
2. Drippin: The One
Title: I know K-pop fans don't like comparisons to other artists, but one of my first thoughts was that this song sounds like the love child of Ateez' Guerrilla and Golden Child's Replay - which I both love, so it's really no surprise that I liked this one as well. The rock guitars mesh really well with the synths, and all in all it's just fun.
Album: As usual I really enjoy Drippin's music, and compared to the title track the b-sides are more in line with the sound they established in their debut. My favourite is probably Silence, but I liked all of the songs. Maybe I'll get around to learn all the members these days, so that I can finally stan them properly.
3. Kara: When I Move
Title: I'm sadly not to familiar with Kara, but I was excited for this since the first teaser dropped, I love this type of sound. It's fun, sexy and elegant, and Kara embody it perfectly. Their performance at MAMA was amazing too.
Album: It sounds both nostalgic yet current, very solid. My favourite b-side is Shout It Out.
