I will admit that Mystra’s design in BG3 is not…amazing. However, I LOVE the fact that it’s a bit uncanny valley. The idea that the gods just fundamentally are so removed from people that when they try to look like them, they inevitably fail because they can’t quite understand what or why tiny details are important to those little mortals, because they’re just so much bigger and they function in such a different way and on such a different scale is a *fascinating* one, especially with the game’s themes about the apathy and carelessness of gods towards humans, even “good” ones.

And that Gale becoming a god is his bad ending!! (Also ties in with #astarion’s endings but he has very different goals so it doesnt entirely cohere. The stuff about certain amounts of power fundamentally #Fucking up your brain and ability to care about people does though)#Gale thinks if he becomes a god he could be better than the current ones and actually use the power to help people #And he does intend to!!!#But the thing is if he became a god he would be just as bad as the others because he would *stop being able to care in that way*#It’s not that the gods that were originally people that didnt care about other people #(Although of course a lot of them did…like the dead three)#It’s that once you become a god you become so much bigger than people that you lose your ability to care about them more than like.#Plants.#Which is a FASCINATING bit of worldbuilding that i will definitely have to steal for a project at some point because #OUGHHHH #d’s notes
